Congratulations to my dear brother for making it to college! We're very proud of you.

Bro with sis

Mom can breathe now.

Anyway, we had a small celebration last Sunday. Food was good, freinds and family were there. What more can we ask for. Thank you Lord for blessing our family yet again.

For our living/dining area at least! I'm kinda loving the blues, jade-ish greens, Tiffany / robin's egg hues.

Is It Too Early?

I'm seriously contemplating on enrolling Eanna in Gymboree (togetehr with our neighbor's son who happenes to be the same birthdate as Eanna!) but then again... is it too early to do so?

My Mom thinks that it's still too early. Hubby also thinks the same. besides, by September, when my little angel turns 2, she will be a "saling-kit" in the pre-school run by hubby's relatives (in the compound where MIL lives). But I really want her to attend the classes so she'll be more comfortable with a lot of people and kids around. You know, more sociable and all. Because right now, she's very snooty with adults, including our relatives. She only mingles with kids, but she dislikes being played or held or even looked at by adults. Ngik.

*Sigh*

I don't know, probably I'll discuss this more with Enrik. But if ever, she'll just start in May.

Block the Heads

Since I'm in the topic of health (or vanity, hahaha), a colony of blackheads are happily adjustign themselves on my nose. Could be because I've had numerous bouts of cold for the past few days, and my poor nose has been badly irritated. I initially want to go to the derma (second time in history if ever), but I'm not sure if I really want to experience the same suffering I felt the first time. I'm highly allergice to benzoyl peroxide, so using products containing these are a No-no. AHA's products are a hit and miss for me. Sometimes, I'm ok with it, sometimes I'm not.

Blogger friends, any suggestions? Thanks thanks!

Cleaning the Insides

recently I have been obssessed with inner body cleansing, and I have been "nagging" dear hubby about getting into detoxification programs and more specialized medical examinations. As usual, he is less than euphoric about it, and dismissed my idea as something that is just a fleeting excitement. Hmph. Though these plans have been halted (for now, at least), I'm still in a quest to find ways on how to do this inner cleansing. I have read somewhere about this product or kit (I forgot, sheeps) about cleaning your insides, which takes around 3 weeks. Interesting, I must say. there are also products I've heard of, such as Colonix, but I am still uncertain in using these products. Must read on them more.

*sigh*. Hubby is wrong, this is not just a fleeting thing. If it's about health, I'm always serious about it.

Bratinella

We have recently noticed that Eanna is becoming to be a certified brat, especially when we're around. She lords over us, really. She bullies us into doing things, like her pulling our hand to go to her room, or her pulling our finger to fast forward a video she is watching. Or her wanting to feed herself, rather than us feeding her. If we hesitate, she whines like crazy and frowns at us. Goodness gracious.

Yet, her yaya tells us that she's such an angel when we're not around. She also noticed that when we are around, Eanna does get a bit bratty, something that she's not doing when we're not around. I've read in Babycenter that this is normal as it shows that the baby shows her true feelings and is not scared to show her feelings to us (you know, trust issue). BUT... It kind of gets a little tiring. Just when you are having a short break, she'll brat her way into getting what she wants. And the whining. Whew. Plus, when we're around, she doesn't want to be with her yaya. Grabe. We love that her attention is on us, but still. Grabe.

All part of being parents, I know. But please... I don't want my little dalaga to be a bratinella.

Eanna @ 7 months... first sign of being a bratinella...

Creative Outbursts?

Creative outbursts my a$$!

This news irritated me so much. No matter how angry you are, you have no right to sak somebody to decided whether he should kneel or be slapped. GRABE. Some people are just plain a$$es, jerks, whatever you call them. They're of another breed.

Last Minute Purchase

Blame it on being picky or just plain lazy... but I almost didn't have anything to wear for Dotty and Consul's wedding! Procastination is evil, I must say. But anyway, I was only able to buy the night before the wedding. I went to lots of shops (note: breezed through like crazy) in Greenbelt 5 but nothing really fancied my eye... up until I went to Adora and checked out my ever-reliable brand Tyler. I still wasn't sure about the clothes that I saw, up until I eyed this yellow-goldish-orange-ish number. My Mom initially hated the color (she dislikes yellow), but I tried it on anyway. And tada!!! I totally L-O-V-E the dress. Liked it so much that then and there I decided to get it. No more looking at other shops. I felt great wearing it, felt a bit sexy having it on. And it didn't show that much skin! LOVE LOVE LOVE it. Truly a best buy this year (if not one of my best buys ever).

Anyway, more on Dotty's wedding later. Gotta go for now!

Eanna Was Sick

My little dalaga has been down with fever for 3 days, and as usual, the paranoid me was so scared it might be dengue. Good thing it wasn't. On the third day, rashes appeared in her upper body, and it was another case of tipdas hangin. Next time, I really will not allow Eanna to swim in the pool. The last time she had this illness was the day that she swam in the pool.

And as always (when Eanna gets sick), I prayed for her to get well and hoped that I just absorb her sickness instead of her getting sick. And God always answers prayers.

So here I am at work, feeling very sick, while my baby girl plays like she usually does. Ngik.

Insurance for the Unemployed

Got this bit of news yesterday (or was it the other day), and this sounds interesting. Thanks Sec, Recto! I however feel quite uncertain how this would be pushed in the long list of projects of the government. For one, maybe those "corrupt" would not want that their budget be lowered due to this project (hihihi, such a pessimist when it comes to officials). Two, just how much would be given to the unemployed, for how long, and what is the cost for each individual. Three, if ever people are to shoulder some of the insurance costs, just how many would be interested (needs to get somebody or a company for an insurance lead. Government has to figure these out... then the question on when will this be implemented?

We'll see what happens to this. And we'll probably know just how serious our government is "protecting" and helping the people in tough times like these.

Reason to Work?

Ok... last week, hubby and I have discussed that maybe it's time for me to focus on being a Mom and a wife. Me working has always been an issue between us, and just a few weeks ago, it dawned on me that maybe I really have to make a choice. I was teary-eyed one time, when I was about to go to work and Eanna was unusually sweet, funny, and showing off her antics. Aside, from this, I have been feeling very tired after work and I'm beginning to believe that i'm burning out already.

Then last weekend, an option opened before our eyes... Crosswinds Tagaytay! We fell in love with the place when we visited it, you know, out of curiosity.

We really want to own this piece of earth and be a haven for us.

So... should I work or not?

Here's the deal:

HOUSEWIFE:
PROS:
  • More relaxed in the sense that there's no work to think and be stressed about
  • More time with Eanna (hands-on Mom)
  • When hubby is here for his vacation, I'm home with them
CONS:
  • Need to live a simpler life (cut back on "wants" heheheh)
  • Crosswinds would have to wait.

WORKING:
PROS:
  • Hello Crosswinds!
  • No fear on being dictated by hubby on what to buy
  • More savings (err... more purchasing power hahahaha)

CONS:

  • Stressed every day - this would speed up my deterioration
  • Less time with Eanna
  • Work would be an on-going issue between hubby and I

*Sigh* Last night we have decided that I would continue to work, at least for 2 years, to be able for us to realize our dream vacation place. Then this morning when i went to work... same thing all over again. Stress, disappointment, frustrations. Only thing that's keeping me sane is my little time to update our home budget files (I keep them handy by storing them in my compact flash)

Maybe I'm in the wrong line of work or maybe I really am tired of working. But one thing's for sure, I really have to make a decision.

Evangelista St.

Whenever hubby brings me to work, we pass through Evangelista St. just to avoid the heavy traffic in the Makati area. Although I love passing through this area (yep, less traffic), that whole street just makes me wonder... There are a lot of automotive shops along that street, you know, selling automotive performance parts and all. But... where do they get those parts and sell them at cheaper prices? Specifically, where do they get those whole car doors or bumpers??? I know that the thrift and vintage shops there are being sold as second-hand items, and there are shops that sell second-hand cars. But second hand car doors? Enrik laughed and joked... "ever heard of chop chop parts from carnapped vehicles?" Ngik.

Oh well, just an observation. Hahaha.

Got this quiz from Liv's blog, so I answered it...

You Are the Leader

You are inspiring and uplifting. You bring out the best in people, through both nurturing and challenging them.

You always can see the big picture in life. You are very philosophical and deeply spiritual.

You understand people, and you can look at their lives objectively. You can help others grow and heal.

People feel comforted by your presence. You help them gain perspective on their lives.

Eh paano yan, I'm really thinking into settling at home and be a full-time Mom and wife? (More on this later).

Eanna's First "Girlfight"

It was a funny sight, really.

Eanna was amazed by the digital photo frame during the baptism of our friend's baby. While watching, the daughter of hubby's friend went in the same area and watched. For some reason, she started "boxing out" Eanna using her behind. Eanna just kept on going back to her position. When Eanna tried to touch the frame, the girl tried to take her hand off. Then, the boxing out again. The girl did this repeatedly, until finally, Eanna "confronted" her. Frowning, she looked at the girl and started yakking (of course, using her own words). Her fist was even clenched while she was "barking" at the girl. It was really a funny moment and I was amazed watching that I forgot to take a picture or even video it. Hahahahaha.

That was the first time I've seen Eanna mad at a fellow child.

The scenario:

It took us 5 rounds and whining moments before we could finally convince Eanna to step out of the carousel. Hahahahaha.

After which she settled to ride on this...

Wednesday Happenings

I called in sick last Wednesday, due to body ache and a mean cold. I tried to rest but of course, with Eanna around, that was hardly a possibility. Hahahaha. Anyway, Enrique got home early too so we had the whole afternoon to spend time together. When I felt better, we headed to E's office before going to Powerplat. It's been really a while since I last went there! And goodness, did I go gaga! Hahaha.

First, I finally gave in to buying the Martha Stewart Homekeeping Handbook I've been wanting to have for some time now. Good thing I checked National Bookstore, and they are selling it around 200 bucks cheaper than in Fully Booked. Good thing I waited noh? 200 din yun! Hehehehe. Then I got the latest issue of myHome magazine. I liked this issue! Well, I also liked Real Living's current issue too. Anyway, I love love Martha's book. Very OC, and it is a must have for seiour housewives out there. Highly recommended!

Of course, eanna has to have some sort of loot right? So we bought her her first crayons and her very own sketch pad. A ball caught her eye, and since she didn't want to let go, we just got it for her. We also got her a children's book of animals. Anyway, I must say that she totally loved her new hobby. She's a budding artist! Hahaha.

Then I went to Accessory Lab, only to fall in love with the Plum Fidji Bag. I. MUST.SAVE. NO.BAGS.FOR.NOW. But seriously, I am liking it much more than the yellow number. *Sigh*. I also tried these lovely earrings by Jennie Dizon, and I'm seriously contemplating about it. It's not as outlandish as diamond hoop earrings but the pair has some personality. Think think think.

Anyway, we ended the day with a lovely dinner... at home... courtesy of... moi of course. Cooked a simple carbonara dish, using my enameled cast iron. Finally, I used it noh? Hahaha.

Hope we have a fruitful, blessed, and happy weekend!

Learning To Say No

categories: ,
Huhuhu. My baby is now growing up.... and really fast! Now she knows how to say no when she doesn't like something. And she's becoming too bratty already. Even if I want to discipline her, I just don't have the heart. But I have to. We have to, right? I just talk to ehr and tell her that what she did was not good, and that when Mama or papa tells her something, then she should follow or understand. Far too much ba? But i really want that at this early, she knows what is acceptable and what is not.

Anyway, here are her latest pics, taken during my Mom's birthday party last Thursday...

Plus, here's one picture wherein she plays with her utensils.

Mischievous one, eh? Can't believe that just last year, this was how she looked...

Here are two pictures of dear hubby I have taken right before his exams two weeks ago...

Pardon me for the really blurred pictures but this was the best my dang camera phone could do. I have blogged about this previously, but it went ok after some time. Then, just when I'm about to use it again, the focus feature was busted. Grrr. But now it's working again. On again... off again noh?

Anyway, going back... That was around 4:30 AM, so much as I want to have a picture taken with him, I looked like a zombie. Nyahahaha.

Anyway, I'm still very happy for the new blessing hubby received. I look forward to his fruitful career... and my new Jaeger Reverso... Just kidding! Simple living, Vanessa. Simple living. :-)

New Lighting For The Home?

New Lighting For The Home?

Lately I have noticed that home magazines have been featuring led lighting use at home. One home was featured and the lighting looks really nice. Plus, it said that use of this is more efficient than incandescent lights. How true? I have no idea yet, but maybe I should look around or surf the net for more information about it. So far I'm happy with our lighting at home, but of course, we would prefer more efficient (and eco-friendly) products. If led lighting proves to be better than the energy-saving bulbs we currently use, then maybe we should consider switching.
