Going to Marinduque

We are off to the province tomorrow morning in order to attend the wake and burial of my Grandfather. I was hoping that our first family trip to Marinduque is going to be a pleasant one, but I guess some things cannot be planned and are unexpected. I'm still at work trying to address any pending items before I leave. Hubby on the other hand just finished checking our car and is in charge of preparing our things for our trip (baligtad noh? hahaha). Since a lot of us will be there, we will not fit in our ancestral home, we would have to check in the hotel for a couple of days. I was hoping it would be cool when we're there, but my Mom informed me that it's hot right now.

Anyway, all for now. Will sign off and blog again next week.

Don't know what to get, but I really want to buy a portable hard drive for all our photos, files, and mp3's...

Western Digital My PASSPORT Elite 320GB Portable Hard Disk Drive

Seagate FreeAgent | Go 500GB Portable Hard Disk Drive

Dang, I should've bought one in HK. I can kick dear hubby for telling me to just buy here in manila since I couldn't decide. It's more expensive here. Grrr.

Back from HK!

After 5 days of staying in HK, I am now back in Manila. It was a tiring yet exciting vacation for our company, as well as for hubby and I. More stories later, since I am now lagging in my work. I've been out for 3 days, you know. Hahahaha. Will blog about our trip as soon as I finish updating my work and all. Gotta work and plurk too you know. Hahaha. I will also post some pictures, and I found it amazing that in just a matter of 5 days, hubby and I kinda ballooned (probably need to take some orovo too hahahaha). Anyway, ciao for now.

Later again!

Getting Ready

We're getting ready for our HK trip and I'm soooo excited already. Other than vacationing with my colleagues, I'm also looking forward to being with hubby in a different country... a first (and hopefully not the last!). I'm sure this 5 days will be a blast for all of us. I hope that this will also be a major bonding time for hubby and I, since we have been apart for more than 7 months. So blogging (and plurking) is off for now.

See yah!

Unsafe World

Don't you just wish that our country has a system or a way in which we can further protect ourselves from crime and criminals? Each day I get to read or watch about crimes and it makes me wonder if our country (or anywhere actually) is a safe place for us, a safe place for Eanna to grow and live. I hope that we will someday have public records of inmates like the ones the US have. I saw this online website that provides swift access to records of inmates. There is a search per state, but there is also a county inmate search for easier and faster results. Now ain't that amazing?

I know, we should not discriminate them and think that prisons "correct" people and not punish them (naks!), but sometimes I get so paranoid and all. Much as I want to see the good in all people, sometime you cannot help but think that we now live in unsafe times.

Breathe!

Now I can breathe... for now at least! Yahoo, audit is done already. Well, the interview part that is. Tomorrow there will still be some minor audits (go to our work place and observe) but at least I can relax for now. The external audit is 2 weeks away, I think, so that leaves us more room to shape up and review our systems, policies, and procedures. hahaha.

Now I can focus on other things other than work: daydreaming, plurking, blogging, etc. Hahaha.!

Company Gifts for Christmas

What's new right now when it comes to giving company gifts for Christmas? I have previously received various items such as pens, key chains, bags, umbrellas, planners, calendars, among other things. But I really want to think of something new that I can suggest to our Admin.

Since our company is very serious about "zero harm to people and the environment", I might as well suggest Promotional Items that are eco-friendly. It's the trend nowadays anyway (and hopefully this will not just be a trend but a way of living). I visited this website called Gimmees and how fortunate it is to find that it offers eco-friendly products. But of course, there are still a lot of items to choose from.

Still, I would like to push for eco-friendly corporate giveaways.

I am seriously wanting these:

USB Drive with Bamboo casing

Canvas Boat Tote

Now isn't this a good idea?

The Growing Tree

Not to mention ancient. hahaha. Kidding.

Anyway, my Aunt (actually, Grandma already since his husband is my Grandpa's brother) has sent me a text message asking for our little family's details (full names, birth dates, etc). I knew at once that she is in the process of updating our clan's family tree. As the Hidalgo family grows by the year, we really have to have our records updated.

I however wanted to take it a step further... why not research on our family's descendants? I know that there are a lot of genealogy search tools right now, but unfortunately I haven't come across one that caters to Filipinos. The US is quite lucky to have numerous ways in piecing together one's family tree, such as the Public Genealogy website. The last names database is huge I tell you, and it covers almost all states. The site is user-friendly and "neat" (I like simple websites).

What's good in our family though is that we have a reunion to catch up on everybody, who's "new", who's "out" (to put it lightly), etc. I guess for now we have to settle for this, but hopefully, my curiosity as to where we truly originated (and whoa re our really distant relatives... royalty perhaps nyahahahah kidding noh!) would one day be satiated.

One More Day

Ack!!! It's our audit today 9and tomorrow) and my mind is blank!!! I tried to condition myself last night by starting on thinking about our company's policy and mandate, but I couldn't do it. I kept on thinking about honeymooning, shopping, and Eanna!

Dear hubby is arriving TOMORROW. I repeat... T-O-M-O-R-R-O-W. So excited and nervous at the same time. Gash. Somebody help me. I need to focus!!!

If It Ain't Goyard

Our HK trip is getting nearer by the day, and much as I am excited about our trip, I'm getting a bit worried about spending. I hope I won't go gaga over shopping! Dear husband will be there with me on Sunday, so at least I have somebody to control my shopping appetite. My worry though is the first 3 days I'm there. I have a want-list ready already, but I'm not so sure if I want to look at it or even pay attention to it. For one, I've been wanting to get a red Goyard Fidji bag. This bag has captured me for the longest time, but now I'm having seconds thoughts in getting one for myself. I might be too selfish to just think of myself, knowing that 1) we plan to buy a car 2) hubby will be here for quite some time 3) we gotta save you know!

So if I ain't getting a Goyard, then probably I will just settle for a rocawear purse, preferably this:

The brand RocaWear is something new to me, but I'm liking the clothes, the bags, the accessories. Not that cheap, but not that expensive either. In short, this brand fit my seemingly decreasing budget. Clothes look comfy and the jeans look smashing. There's so much to choose from and I love it! Oh, I should mention that Jay-Z is a co-founder of Rocawear. Nice!

Ok, before I get excited once again, I should stop. Hahaha. Focus on the audit (which is today), focus on hubby coming home, focus on saving. Not.

And the anticipation is killing me!!!! This day is such a long day. Tomorrow will even be longer. And on Wednesday??? Longest hours perhaps.

*Sigh*

But for now, I have to focus on work. We have an audit coming up tomorrow until Wednesday. I will really try my best not to have a blank mind (and stare at the auditor).

Can't wait till our family's complete. *Sigh*

Dorsett Seaview Hotel

This is the hotel where our company booked us and most likely where Enrik and I will stay in HK. I hope this hotel has good accommodations though. I'm not really familiar with it. The last time we went there, we stayed in this nice hotel (I forgot the name but kind of looks like the laughlin hotels in Nevada) and near everything, with "everything" meaning shops, malls, etc. Hahaha. That's my main criteria in choosing hotels whenever I travel, you know, "convenience" and all.

Anyway, I'll know when I get there. Definitely I will blog about our HK company trip, but probably less details on our honeymoon. Nyahahahahahaha.

Gash, it's kinda obvious I'm excited noh?

Hong Kong, Here I (We Come!)

Since last week I'm feeling the excitement already for our company's Hong Kong trip. Today however I got even more excited because dear hubby is coming home next week in time for him to follow to HK for our much-awaited second honeymoon! We will stay there until 21 October... I know, it might be too short, but hey we're not complaining. Better short than none right? Of course, it is still our dream to go to other places such as Europe and the Caribbean (they have lovely Caribbean villa rentals) but for now, while we're still "saving", HK is enough. Hehehehe.

*Sigh* I can't wait to see my husband. I can't wait to have that first out of the country trip with him. May not be Paris, but still, we'll make our second honeymoon as romantic as possible.

Look Good, Feel Good!

Hahaha, I coined this sentence from one commercial that had a tag line "look young, feel young!" Anyway, I am just happy with the results of my "vital statistics" taken during our uniform fittings. I was surprised that my figure kind of slimmed down a bit, and it's not what i have expected. Let's just say that when it comes to waist line, the measurement was two inches less than what I thought. Nice! I guess my areas of concern are just my thighs, my arms, and my belly (too much food intake hahaha!). Plus, it also means that I don't have to resort to taking diet pills (as I initially have been planning to).

Dear hubby is coming home next week, so hopefully he'll be pleased with what he'll see. Hehehehehehe.

Home Entertainment System for Sale!

Anybody interested in buying a 29' Samsung Slim Fit TV plus a DVD player and a really nice sound system (5 speakers plus this big box, I don't know what it is called, hehehe)? I really want to upgrade our home entertainment system (feel!) and get an LCD TV and a more compact DVD player. Not for aesthetics, but mostly to save space, since we live in a 62 sqm unit. I'm not wishing for the stars and have a digital signage player, just a simple LCD TV (maybe a 32-inch is good noh? 40' is too big already, given the space and distance).

If interested, please let me know! Price is negotiable. :D

Green Living

It has been a while now since I promised to Mother Earth that I will do my best to live a healthy and green lifestyle, as well as to promote "green living" to my friends, relatives, and colleagues. I have been an "environmentalist" ever since high school, but it's just now that I want to make drastic changes in the way our family will live in order to help save our planet. I already started by turning off all appliances (and unplugging them!) when not in use. At first people would find it a drag to do so but later on, it'll be part of your system. It became part of mine. Consumption of water and electricity is monitored too. It's nice that our household help understands this and she does keep track of our consumption. Both of us get really happy when we see our bills going down! Maybe I should also look into energy efficients (energy-saving products) to further lower our consumption. Aircon... well, we still use it but only when Eanna gets irritated at night. She loves being in a cold room. Then with food... We cook only what's sufficient. We use organic ingredients as much as possible. A little more expensive, but healthier and safer I guess?

There's still so much that I want to do and maybe I'd read more about green living in my spare time. I hope you, dear friends, will do the same. It's about time. :-)

To Do For The Weekend

Someone’s coming to town, and it ain’t Santa Claus!

Ok, so I have to make a To-Do List in preparation for dear hubby’s arrival sometime next week (I hope):
  • Wash all his clothes so they will smell really fresh.
  • Buy ingredients for his “request dinner” - spaghetti and grilled burger. DONE
  • Have the car cleaned, tires checked.
  • Change beddings in our bedroom (hehehehehe).
  • Buy his beer (preferably Beck’s). Two only. Hahahaha.
  • General cleaning of the house - utility area, bathrooms, pantry (the usual areas he checks when he comes home). Plus of course, Eanna’s room.
  • For grocery and market - don’t forget to buy more amounts.
  • Set up the home entertainment system looong overdue, but should I just let him do this?
  • Organize our closet and Eanna’s cabinet.
  • Prepare myself. Hahahaha.

Hmmm… did I miss anything? Will just edit this if I think of other things. I’m sooooo excited na!

Good To See Them Again

Though our "reunion" was due to a sad incident (ex-colleague's husband passed away), I really felt good seeing my ex-colleagues again. I have been thinking about them lately because it's been almost three years since we parted ways and went on to different companies, and i sorely missed the friendships and good relationships we had when we re together. Last night we talked about our experiences in our current companies, and I was really relieved when they also shared all my frustrations when it comes to being "new" in our current companies. It was then I realized that those times when I thought that maybe there really is something wrong with me, were based on foolish thoughts. We really were trained in a very good (and different) level and were never into so much gossiping, intrigues, and taking things personally. Sure, we had our moments when we "argue" but it's more about work, and at the end of the day, we still were "friends." In short, all of us, though personalities (and status in life) differ, we were able to adjust and accept each other and were in the same "wavelength." Working with them was truly a joy, and the atmosphere we created in our workplace encouraged us to improve ourselves and to do the best we can and excel in our craft.

After attending the wake, we went to our place (since it's just near) and I cooked pasta for them and ordered chicken. This was impromptu noh! We chatted away about anything and everything we can think of, while watching telenovelas in Channel (hahaha). The night wouldn't have ended but then we realized that we have families of our own and they had to go home. Hahaha. We promsied each other that this will be repeated and that we should still continue seeing each other, not only for occassions such as this. well, they attended my wedding, oo nga pala. Hahaha.

Kulang pa nga kami!

Gash, I miss them so much. I hope that one day, we will work in the same company again. Who knows right?

Credit Cards in the Market

Just this week alone a couple of credit card companies contacted me and offered me credit cards for free. Though I wasn't that interested in getting one, the offers gave me an indication that my credit reputation is still in good standing (I hope!). I thought it would be marred by the Citibank incident I had a few years back (long story), and I was really surprised when I have been contacted numerous times by them to get their credit cards.

Looks like credit cards are offered to the people like crazy! This would then give a chance for my ex-colleague who couldn't get a credit card because of bad credit reputation (long story too). I checked out this website called Bad Credit Offers and it offers various loan products and bad credit credit cards to people with bad credit. This is really a good alternative especially to those whose bad credit reputations were just due to misunderstanding or not really the person's fault (like ex-colleague's case).

Do check out this website!

Her Favorite Spot

Eanna is sooo addicted to walking around.. but she has to rest once in a while right? Here’s her favorite spot to rest and enjoy her toys…

I just love it when I see her walking around then go to that same spot and sit.
Soooo lovely.

PS: I noticed the sockets on the wall. Though Eanna is not that curious about them, I should buy those “protectors” for that place to be more kid-safe.

Two Weeks?

Just got a mail from dear hubby and good news! He really is coming home soon. Yey! Finally, after months of being away, we're gonna be together again, and our little family's going to be complete. I really can't wait to see him and to be back in his arms. *sigh*

I'm imagining again, what our days would be like, where to go, what to do, what to eat. Gash. This is going to be the longest two weeks... Yet again. I also hope the adjustment will be smoother than what happened last year. I really don't want to waste his precious vacation time with my Drama Queen antics. Will try! Ha ha ha!

Can't wait to see him. No fixed date yet, but i'm guestimating it's just a few days away...

Sickly Me

Ack! I can't afford to be sick these days. Hubby is coming home and I need to be healthy and "physically able" nyahahahaha.

Anyway, I must have overslept last night (duh, from 8:00 am to 7 am the next day, kinda obvious huh?) because I feel so groggy, slow, and well, still sick. I have a couple of days to get well. *Sigh* Been chugging glasses of lemonade for days already.

I hope I'll get well soon. Don't want to be be "slow" for our audit in 2 weeks' time. Don't want to jeopardize my HK trip. And most importantly, don't want to be sick when hubby comes home. Hihihihi.
