Oh, Christmas Tree!

When hubby and I got married, we had this idea of getting small Christmas trees for the holidays, and whenever we feel that we have "progressed" we will buy a bigger one. This year, we felt that so many blessings where given to us, including the blessing that I can be a full-time home maker / stay-at-home mom, so we got the Christmas tree I have wanted to get for the longest time. all of us were very excited to go home after buying the tree and some adornments. we couldn't wait to set up our first "big" Christmas tree!

Our tree is still incomplete in terms of adornments and lights, but here it is after our initial set-up...

Although it kind of looks big for our tiny place, we still got this because I really really love the goldish color of the tree, but there are no more smaller sizes.

I am now looking forward to installing the lights and some more adornments, though it looks ok na rin for me.

Exercising with the Hubby

I previously mentioned that using our condo's gym is now free, and so today, the husband and I hit the gym to shake our bootehs. I LOVE IT! What I mean is, I loved and enjoyed exercising with him around. It's just so funny that while warming up in the treadmills, we were still holding hands (hahahha, cheesy ba?). I also love watching him during my break periods (ok, I am a woman in love, so bear with me). Plus, I don't know, additional motivation perhaps? Because I normally just use the treadmill, lift some weights, and do some crunches. This morning however, I tried the Precor elliptical and actually liked it, enough for me to use it for 5 minutes (hahaha).

Anyway, hubby and I promised that we will exercise at least three times a week. With him around, I am so looking forward to getting fit and buffed (feel!).

Hubby is Getting OC Again!

It's been only a week since hubby came home (thus 1 week vacation for him), but he is already showing signs of hims "taking charge" and acting as if he's still onboard his vessel.

See, he's always like that after some time, like planning what will happen during the day, and FOLLOWING THE PLAN (ugh, can he relax, noh!). Then he checks out every nook and corner of the house to see if there are any signs of wearing out or needs improvement. Then he makes an inventory of house tools that we should have.

What is "annoying" though is he starts noticing my collection of magazines and bullies me.

HUBBY: You have a lot of magazines.
ME: Yeah, as my past time while you're away.
HUBBY: Isn't internet surfing enough? Anyway, I'm throwing them out.
ME: WHAT???? Most of them are new.
HUBBY: Ok, I'll throw out the old ones.
ME: But my home magazines are still useful even if they're not the current issues.
HUBBY: Some have to go because I'm sure you'll buy new ones.
ME: Ok, ok fine. I'll make a collage again of the stuff I want. Then let's recycle or give the magazines to our Admin.
HUBBY: Ok, good. How about Preview and Mega magazines? They're not home magazines.

AAARRRGGHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!

Filipino Pride: Efren Penaflorida

It is true that Manny Pacquiao's win over Cotto last Sunday has given us national pride. However, I feel that Efren Penaflorida has also given us more reason to be proud of being Filipinos when he won the CNN 2009 Hero of the Year.

This is a very meaningful event / award to us, for it shows us the greatness and the good we can do to our countrymen, if only we make full use of our capabilities and our hearts into it.

There is still hope for us. I believe it. All we have to do is think and feel. Then act.

Grandma is Coming to Manila!

I love it!

My Grandma (we fondly call her Mama) is finally coming to Manila to spend the holidays with us. She hasn't been here since Papa (our Grandpa) died last year. Of course, it is understandable, because she wanted to wait for the first death anniversary before she leaves their place in Marinduque. I was hoping though that she'd spend her birthday here. But any which way, I'm happy that she decided to go here soon. I would love to bring her to the malls to shop (hehehe) and of course, buy her my yearly sponsored best eye cream for wrinkles, which I believe is L'Oreal Perfect Age (for mature skin).

which reminds me again, hmmm. Gotta buy Eanna's bed already. I would want Mama to spend some days here in our place!

Something to Look Forward To

Our much-awaited Tagaytay trip is something we all look forward to, and I'm so happy that we're finally going tomorrow! We're staying there for until Wednesday, or maybe one more day, depending on what we feel. Hahaha. Usually we stay in Estancia Hotel because we like staying in their Nipa Huts with great Taal volcano views, plus they have good amenities: jacuzzi, pool, table tennis, billiards, videoke bar. However, I'm considering other places to stay, just to try something new. The Boutique, 8 Suites, and T-House are among our options, but we'll see. We have yet to check the places and all. I know, it may be "just" Tagaytay and not some new orleans vacations, but our trips up there are things that we look forward to every time hubby is on vacation.

Will post pics soon!

Acts of God Clause

Just paid our car insurance, and I still couldn't believe what their "new" policy was because of the typhoon Ondoy. You see, aside from mechanical breakdown insurance, the whole policy included coverage for "acts of God." Because of the Ondoy scenario though, they wanted us to pay additional PhP 4k for the Acts of God clause. What the??? I told the agent that they have already given us a billing statement specifying the amount we have to pay, plus the inclusions, and it included the "acts of God" clause, so they couldn't just easily tell us to pay more right? So anyway, I got to pay the original amount, and they just regarded the PhP 4k as our "discount" but next year will be a different matter. well, next year I'd scout for new insurance companies and see. Hehehehe.

Christmas Gifts 2009

Does anybody know where I can buy custom water bottles? I am in the process of coming up with Christmas gifts for our family, relatives, and friends, and I have come up with the theme eco-living. I thought of water bottles to lessen the purchase of water in plastic bottles. But of course I want to have a personal touch to them.

Or maybe I should buy water bottles, then have the names or initials monogrammed? Hmm.

Other than this, I plan to continue giving eco-friendly products, such as Messy Bessy products - hand sanitizer, house cleaning products, anti-insect repellants, etc.

And we have little time left. Eeeps!

Real Estate temptation

categories:
Do they have ESP (and them knowing the husband is here) or is it just a coincidence that real estate agents we previously talked to have started contacting us again, asking if we are interested in new payment schemes of lots or house and lots they offer?

It is a temptation for us though, because though we are not one of those who plan on being cross country movers, we have always wanted to get a vacation house somewhere in the South. You know, condo living in the city, then having a vacation house. We have yet to materialize the latter. Haha.

Still, I must remind myself that I have stopped working so finances are a bit tight. Not now at least. Maybe next year. Meantime, we are happy to just scout and look. Window shopping? Hahahaha!

First trip to the Mall

Our family had our "first" trip to the mall last Tuesday, and it felt really different if it's with the husband. Hahaha, don't get me wrong, I meant it in a nice way. I loved every minute of it, even though it is couple with Eanna's slight tantrums, hahaha. Hubby tried to convince me to shop for myself (I complained about me lacking clothes. Yup I do.) while they hit the play areas. I told him I'm fine for now and would love to be with them. It was a good decision because when I got a little "bored", I tried this booth where I used five bucks to try to get a stuffed toy. First try, and I got one Mickey Mouse! The succeeding tries weren't successful though. I still wanted to get Minnie Mouse so I challenged E to get one. first try, and he got a Minnie Mouse!

Then we went to Ace Hardware to buy some stuff for the bathroom, plus of course a slight trip to the car accessories lane (hubby has that itch hahaha). Then we went to Our Home to check out what's new. That's what I love about hubby. Though he doesn't have much patience to shop for my clothes, he does have interest and patience to go through home stores.

We had our Sisig cheap thrill for lunch before going back home (we only had the 10 am - 3 pm window for coding hahaha).

I loved that Tuesday. And I am looking forward to more days like these. *Sigh*

Gym is Now Free!

Our gym in the first tower is now free! This is a welcome surprise considering we used to pay PhP 50 each whenever we use the gym. Now, hubby and I can continue working out, everyday maybe?

I am so dead set in going to the gym again after starting again a couple of months back, but stopped. Yes, lazy me, always opting to look for lazy alternatives (mesotherapy? best weight loss pills? fit flops?) but I have noticed that in the 4 days that my husband was here, I gained weight. Ack. So now at least being with my hubby in the gym will be an added incentive for me to shake my booteh. Plus, may I remind myself, it is now FREE!

Just a quick post to say that my dear darling lover hubby came home last Sunday, 10:00 am. That means, our family is complete!

Eanna wasted no time and immediately went to cuddle with her Papa. I love that moment, priceless.

Anyway, gotta be a full-time homemaker, Mom and wife first. But, I will try to blog as much as I can too.

Folger's Gourmet Creme Brulee

I stumbled upon Folger's Gourmet Collection while at the grocery, and i was really tempted to get one, specifically the Creme Brulee...

At PhP300+ a bag, I couldn't justify buying it that time because I wasn't really a coffee drinker.

Bad decision.

Now I can't stop thinking about it. come to think of it, I bought Creme Brulee coffee in Starbucks years back, and it cost PhP 90 per cup that time. So why am I being stingy now? Hahahaha.

Luckily the grocery is near our place so I can go there anytime and get me a bag. will blog about it once I get to taste it!

Don't you just terribly dislike it when you go to the mall's public restrooms and find out that they do not have working hand dryers nor paper hand towels? I know times may be hard and that it cost them a lot for these (NAH!!!) But hey, just a little service, right? I won't name the mall but I'm sure some of you have experienced this already. Good thing we have some baby wipes and tissue with me, so we were able to dry our hands.

Maybe the hand dryers were busted, but still. They should have offered hand towels at the very least.

When oh when is my husband coming home?!? Please let him come home, his reliever has been with them for more than 2 weeks already! How much turnover is needed for the new guy to know the job?

Gash, excitement is turning into frustration already,. there was a chance for him to go home yesterday, but the Captain preferred that he stay onboard until next port, which is UK. They;'re in the UK now, but there's still no schedule when they are berthing. ACK.

Maybe this is the cause of me experiencing high blood / low blood symptoms last night? That was such a bummer, I didn't get to enjoy my roast beef I lovingly prepared.

But please, I want my husband home. I hope he's home tomorrow night. Please please.

However, because of the "nature" of this dress, I could easily wear it in different occasions, with different looks of course!

Gotta be a smart shopper now, especially since I no longer have then previous luxury of going way overboard our budget. Hehehe. Husband is gonna love my "new' philosophy.

In this picture, my darling daughter is pretending to be a story teller to her "audience".

She first lined them up according to height, then sat down on her own sofa. Then she sang for them and "told" stories. it was fun watching her do that.

She also did this to her stuffed toys. brought them all out, lined them in the sofa, and danced in front of them. Nice!

Men's Musts: 9 Things Every Guy Should Buy and Wear

Men's Musts: 9 Things Every Guy Should Buy and Wear

While we love dudes who aren't afraid to sport the latest and greatest, there are a few staples that should absolutely, positively form the basis of every man's wardrobe, dandy or not. As perfect paired with of-the-moment get-ups as they are on their own, these totally timeless no-brainer pieces—from dark wash jeans to desert boots—can and should be worn again and again. Yes, it's easy for a fella to get sucked into the trends that cheap-chic factories like H&M and Topman churn out each season, but these closet classics will stick around longer than six months—and should have a place in every guy's permanent rotation.

1. The Classic Dark-Washed Jeans
 mens-must-haves-denim.jpg

There's nothing like a pair of great-fitting straight leg jeans, and dark wash never goes out of style. Truly indispensable, they can be dressed up or down, and get better with wear. Seriously, if you have a pair of jeans with any sort of kooky stitching or pocket designs, discard immediately.

Above, from left: Levi's 501 Original Jeans in Rinsed, $37 (were $46), at Levi's; A.P.C. New Standard Jeans, $155, at A.P.C.; Oak Indigo Straight Jean, $146, at Oak.

2. The Desert Boots

mens-must-haves-desert-boot.jpg

Though the Clarks classics have laces, pull-on versions are an easy update, and let's face it, the less work the better. Whether in universal black or broken-in beige, suede or canvas, there's a version of these to suit every guy's style.

Above, from left: Clarks Desert Boot, $95, at Clarks; Vanishing Elephant Ferris Leather Desert Boot, $264, at Blackbird; Acne Dune Boot, $489 CDN, at Gravitypope.

3. The Cashmere Pullover

mens-must-haves-sweaters-1.jpg

Some dudes do V-necks, some don't. We'll admit, dabbling in neck "intricacies" can get you into trouble. But not with a classic cashmere crew. Whether in merino or a soft cashmere blend, it's a hard call The merino wool crewneck gets an upgrade in cashmere--a definite investment, but it'll add polish to any outfit.

Above, from left: Acne Storm Sweater, $240, available at Gargyle; A.P.C. Pullover, $280, at A.P.C..

4. The Polished Top Coat

mens-must-haves-top-coat-1a.jpg

Top coat equals entry into grown-up land. Whether going to the opera or on a dinner date, guys really can't be wearing whatever variation of the North Face jacket they still have from their undergrad days...over a suit.

Above, from left: Topman Charcoal Duffle Coat, $160, at Topman; Patrik Ervell Overcoat, $865, at Opening Ceremony.

Above, from left: Band of Outsiders Polo Coat, $2,070, at Opening Ceremony; Freeman's Sporting Club Pea Coat, $1630, at Refinery29 Shops.

5. The Good Go-to Belt

mens-must-haves-belts.jpg

Every outfit needs a finishing piece, and a leather belt in a neutral color is a functional accent that can be worn daily (and not necessarily to keep up your pants).

Above, from left: UO Solid Leather Belt, $19, at Urban Outfitters; Topman Tan Leather Plaited Belt, $40, at Topman; Tanner Standard Belt with Black Hardware, $87, at Blackbird.

6. Versatile Sport Coat

mens-must-haves-sports-coat-1.jpg

Part-time blazer, sometimes overcoat, always useful. Tweed is a homespun, English novelist-style variation of black, navy, or charcoal. And you don't have to be a nerd to wear it.

Above, from left: Marc by Marc Jacobs Wool Flannel Blazer, $394, at Ssense; Billy Reid Henry Patch Pocket in Brown Plaid, $625, at Billy Reid.

7. Plaid Shirt With the Perfect Fit

mens-must-haves-plaid-shirt-1.jpg

Perfectly-cut plaid shirts (like Steven Alan's) often come in letter-sizes--how many of us are actually "medium-sized," anyway? Don't fear the tailor.

Above, from left: Gitman Brothers Tartan Button Up, $175, at Acrimony; Woolrich Cotton Plain Upland Button Down, $185, at Bird.

8. A Classic Watch

mens-must-haves-watches.jpg

You probably wish your grand-dad passed down his love-worn Patek Philippe, but most of you guys out there won't be so lucky. For reality's sake, every guy should score himself a refined-yet-rugged military-style watch, ideal for every day and just as stylish for night.

Above, from left: G-SAR Dive Watch, $700, at County Comm; Simon Carter WT 1600 Watch, $175, at Blackbird; M&Co 5 O'Clock Watch, $95, at the MoMA Store.

9. Tailored Khakis

mens-must-haves-tailored-khakis-1a.jpg

Definitely not your dad's pleated pants (unless he's Johnny Depp), great-fitting khakis are a bare-bones essential, be they cuffed on the beach or tucked into some worn-in motorcycle boots.

Above, from left: Corpus Sailor Pants, $75 (were $189), at Gargyle; Chimala West Point Chino Officer's Pants, $325, at Bird; Ralph Lauren G.I. Flat Front Fine Chino, $98, at Ralph Lauren.

The Coffee Drinker in Me

I have always been a late bloomer, and this probably includes my liking for coffee. You see, I rarely drank coffee, much less so in spending a lot for coffee. However, overnight I have suddenly come to like, nay, CRAVE, for coffee for weeks now. So much so that my parents and sister got shocked when I begged for us to go to Starbucks after having a full lunch.

Actually, I have gotten to like drinking coffee years back, when Starbucks introduced the Creme Brulee flavor as one of their Christmas offerings. Unfortunately they never brought it back, and so my coffee drinking days went to a halt. Enter movie dates with my sister, and I became hooked again.

Now I am looking forward to the Christmas offerings again, which i believe started yesterday.

I was again disappointed that the Creme Brulee flavor is not offered. but then again, maybe this one is a good consolation...

Ok, I am salivating now. Hahahaha. can't wait to try them!

ABS CBN's 2009 Christmas Station ID

categories: ,
The first time I saw ABS CBN's Christmas Station ID for 2009, my initial feeling was "wow, very nice." Message is quite clear, and reminds us what Christmas is all about.

ABS CBN for me always makes remarkable station IDs, and in my opinion, always better than GMA's. However, I cannot help but wonder if the station really does take into heart and put into action the messages that they always put across. This year, there were some actions of the station that I frowned upon (hello, Willie issue?!?) and convinced me that at the end, it's all about money.

Again, I just pray that their message in the Christmas ID will remind us what our priorities are and what we should be doing. I hope the station will not just be a "messenger" but the mover as well. Walk the talk, talk the walk, walk the walk, talk the talk.

Piolo Pascual and the 2009 Timex Run

A banner field is expected to participate in the event, organized by the country’s top running coach Rio de la Cruz and supported by TV/moviedom’s heartthrob Piolo Pascual plus other celebrity endorsers.

Registration is ongoing and will end on November 9 at Timex shops (SM Mall of Asia, SM North Edsa, Glorieta 3, SM Megamall, and SM Southmall) Robinsons Land showrooms (Amisa showroom, Robinsons Place Manila; Grand showroom, Robinsons Galleria; Trion Towers, Fort Bonifacio Global City), and Nike Park, Bonifacio High Street.

Wednesday Errands

I did some errands today, and it was a welcome change from us staying at home. First we went to the bank to deposit some moolah. Not as savings but as payment for our amortization (shucks). Then we went to my office to check them out and say hi. It was good to see them hehehe.

Then we went to Bonifacio High Street to pay our car insurance in Honda. Expenses yet again! It was raining so that was a bummer for Eanna. She wanted to play in the field and all. Oh well. Then we had lunch in Conti's. Chicken Ballotine for Eanna and her Nanny, Norwegian Baked Salmon for me, and Cream of Spinach soup for Eanna (she finished it!).

Went to Fully Booked after to check out some books. Bad trip, internet in Starbucks is paid pala. Never mind noh! But we were fortunate that there was a Storytelling for Kids sponsored by the teachers from Cambridge Pre-school. Eanna participated, and good grief, she behaved quite well! At first she didn't want me to leave her side but after a while she managed to get by herself. She even "made" a ghost necklace with the help of one of the teachers there. Nice!

We would have stayed longer but then the clouds were looking over the area and as soon as we left the rains started to pour. again, good timing.

Tomorrow is stay-at-home day for us. Hope it won't be as "bad" as yesterday's frustrating scenario!

This is my first "work-day" as a SAHM and boy oh boy was it full of surprises. And i thought last weekend's tantrums were bad already.

I no longer want to recall my frustrations and the anger that I felt trying to "discipline" and be a parent to my darling girl. After all, after being separated from her for 2 hours and her acting as if nothing happened (usual "Mama Mama" complete with kiss and embrace), she's still an angel in my eyes.

But I have to post this, as it basically sums up my day today with her.

The quality of the picture doesn't even do her justice. Suits her very perfectly.

It's just now that I have got the time to post some (low-resolution) pictures taken during Halloween and our trip to the cemetery, so here goes.

As previously blogged, darling daughter spent Trick or Treating in Megamall. It was an unplanned thing because we initially went there just to buy her a costume and buy me a laptop. But she was so curious about the kids running around, so I just told the Nanny that they join as well. The costume actually is for a later Trick or Treating in my Aunt's village (cancelled though, I got sick... what's new).

The next day, we went to the cemetery to visit my Grandpa. Ugly low-res pictures again (thank goodness my sister bought a camera, though too late for Halloween / cemetery).

Yup, that big chunk of whatever is my face. I have ballooned again (got lazy in exercising, as expected). Is there an available thermogenic fat burner to help me? Gash. Hubby is coming home soon and I will probably be likened to a big cushion when he sees me. Well, probably I'm exaggerating again, but still. Shucks, beginning to be conscious hahaha!

Anyway, I got to take a pic of Eanna and my nephew Aden. They love making faces!

That's just about it. Now I am envious of my sister's new camera. Hmph.
