What I Got For The Holidays

categories:
Dear hubby asked me a few days ago what I got myself for Christmas. Here are what I got:

1. Parker Sign (Rollerball) Pen - Got my initials engraved as well. Yes, I have a thing for pens. I'm trying Parker this time as I have always been a Cross user.  Montblanc, someday when I am really made. Hehehehe.

2. Crane and Co. Folded Notes - I hope the National Bookstore will have more options as I am a fan of really nice folded notes! One day I'd have my own personalized notes!
3. iPhone 4s (this one is actually free hehehe) - I love this phone. I'm so glad I have one!
Hubby couldn't believe my list, so I just added one... a Kindle version (readable in iphone!) of The Little Pink Book of Elegance. :) I hope this ebook is good! (costs around $3.95 in Amazon)

And also, the Kor Delta bottle... One thing that I've always wanted to get but for some reason unable to do so!

That's it actually. Well, considering my spending habits throughout the year, I think this list is a fair one.

No new clothes, no new shoes. It's ok. What's important is that I am happy with all of these! :)

Here's to satisfying my nail color fixation!

Chanel Le Vernis - Tendresse, Quartz, Dragon, and Black Pearl.

Plus Etude House Flower Treatment nail color remover. Softer nails, lovely scent too!

I have a feeling that this fixation will spill over in 2012. I just hope I wouldn't be purchasing any more Chanel nail color stuff hahaha. Hubby already raised his eyebrow when I got 2 at a time, what more if I hoard all year through. Hehehehe. Well, it should be ok right because almost all of the time, my hands (and fingers) are exposed. No fancy nor battery heated gloves will cover my hands, so might as well make fun of my nails right?

2012 Chinese Horoscope for the Horse

categories:
I am born under the year of the Earth horse...

Horse can run very fast. Without a guide on its back, Horse doesn't know where it should go. The Dragon in the heavens can be a good guide for the Horse. Following the advice of Dragon, Horse can take off and become a Dragon-Horse. In general, Horse people should have good luck in career and money area in 2012. In Chinese astrology, Dragon contains mainly Earth. Horse contains mainly Fire. Fire can produce Earth. They can get along and won't fight each other. But Horse will become weak when Dragon is around. 2012 is a year for Dragon to show itself off. Horse people need to act as a supporting character. Horse people will do well in the year of Dragon just by following Dragon's wisdom and guidance.

Career: A lucky star related to career comes to Horse people in 2012. Horse people should take advantage of this opportunity to pursue career advancement or expansion. But you still have to keep your profile low and follow your leader or mentor. Then you will have good chance for a promotion, as long as you can manage your current business well. Since a Lonely Star appears in the Dragon year, therefore, you should increase your social activities, do more communication with upper and lower channels and build a stronger network. This way, your job will be easier when your position faces more responsibility and challenge.

Money: A lucky star related to money arrives to Horse people in 2012. In general, Horse people will have a stable fixed income in the Dragon year. It's fine to make some financial investment, but you don't have windfall luck. Gambling, short-term, or risky investments are not recommended. There is sign of that money comes and goes. Horse people still need money management to watch their financial balance. Otherwise, you will have trouble increasing your wealth or saving extra earnings. It's a year of money opportunity. Horse people need to run faster to gain more. Horse people will have nothing without running.

Love: No Romantic Star appears in the year of Dragon to Horse people. There is no conflict between Dragon and Horse. The people in relationships are fine. However, there is a Lonely Star coming in 2012. When dealing with your love relationship, you cannot push your partner to spend more time with you. If you ask your lover too many requests, that will hurt the relationship. It's time to maintain the relationship, not to seek for a closer one. If you are single, you need to attend more social activities. You will have more chances to find a new relationship if you network and get help from friends or mentors. Remember that a good relationship always takes time to develop.

Health: There is an Unlucky Star showing in health area. That's a sign of injury. Therefore, Horse people need to pay attention the safety at work, to drive carefully on the road and to avoid conflict with strangers. Also, if Horse people have physical fights with others or do dangerous sports (like mountain climbing, car racing, diving, ski or even riskier activities), it might cause a bloody injury. Some fortunetellers suggest that doing a blood donation or teeth cleaning will help people escape accidents or injuries. Also, Horse people shouldn't ignore their health in 2012. Otherwise, a hospital door is opening for you.

MORE ABOUT THE HORSE

Personality
Occupying the 7th position on the Chinese Zodiac, the Horse symbolizes such character traits as strength, energy, and an outgoing nature. Extremely animated, Horses thrive when they’re the center of attention. Always in search of a good time, Horses keep the crowds happy with their humor and their wit.

Horses are extremely intelligent so they’re able to grasp new subjects with ease. They’re also capable of multi-tasking however they don’t always finish what they start because they’re forever chasing the next opportunity. Horses are honest, friendly and open-minded. They’re perhaps a bit too centered on themselves and have been known to throw tantrums when situations don’t go their way.

Health
Horses are very healthy, most likely because they maintain a positive outlook on life and because they’re athletic. Lead Horses to wide, open spaces and watch them run free! Horses will usually only feel ill when they’re trapped inside.

Career
Horses enjoy positions in which they can interact with others. They aren’t fond of taking orders and they’ll run from jobs they consider routine. They’re able to grasp new subjects with ease making them capable of handling most any job. They’re effective communicators and they enjoy power. Good career choices for Horses include: publicist, sales representative, journalist, language instructor, translator, bartender, performer, tour operator, librarian or pilot.

Relationships
Horses, being spontaneous, have a tendency to fall fast and hard for others. They tend to give themselves fully in each new relationship a quality that ends up chipping away at their inner being. Fortunately, this exhausting trait mellows with age and relationships are stronger and more stable later in life.

Horses and the 5 elements

Metal Horse – Years 1930 and 1990
Free-spirited in every sense of the word, commitment is the easiest way to scare Metal Horses away. They prefer jumping from one relationship or job to the next. Because of this, Metal Horses make better friends than partners.

Water Horses – Years 1942 and 2002
Adaptable yet indecisive, Water Horses have a tendency to flow like the current. They have trouble making up their minds and as a result, they always seem to be confusing others. And although this behavior can be frustrating, Water Horses are fun to be around so most people just get used to it.

Wood Horses – Years 1954 and 2014
Stable and strong, Wood Horses are better able to make decisions. They interact well with others; a trait that enables them to have more successful personal and professional relationships.

Fire Horses – Years 1906 and 1966
The fire is always burning inside Fire Horses. They love living on the edge and are always ready for change as change always is more interesting. They are incredibly opinionated and one place you’ll never find Fire Horses is standing on the fence.

Earth Horses – Years 1918 and 1978
Earth Horses will work to meet their goals, no matter how long it takes. They’ve got the ability to view situations from all perspectives and this ability is especially useful when it comes to making decisions. They’re very adaptable and they’re funny too.

Compatibility
Horses are compatible with a Dog or Tiger and incompatible with a Rat or Monkey.

2011 was a year full of surprises and challenges - both personal, family, and career-wise. The rise and fall of things, the strengthening and weakening of others.

But, I would like to focus more on the blessings I received this year, as well as the things my family has been blessed with.

To start off, the beginning of the year saw the start of my career in Maersk. Sure I started in Dec 2010, but technically the meat of my work was in 2011. It was a good opportunity for me to go back to being a career woman after 1 year of staying at home. This is a blessing for obvious reasons - financial and personal fulfillment. I have met new people, garnered new friends, and exercised my social skills again. Hahaha.

It is this year too that my other (shall I say better?) half got his promotion. Years of hard work have finally paid off and now he is in a senior role, a step closer to being a Master Mariner. I'm so proud of my dear husband. Again, blessing for obvious reasons - personal and financial fulfillment for my husband.

Eanna, my sweet little darling had her little blessings as well - she learned a lot in school, gained new friends, got a lot of material things (hello toysies, womens boots, clothes, and more toysies! hahahaha), and more importantly, bloomed into a very beautiful and social little lady. She's soooo talkative and friendly and sociable that everybody adores her!

This year was a year of travel too - we saved just enough to bring our little girl to Hong Kong and experience Disney and Ocean Park. Yeah, it was a tiring trip (and lots of grumbling too hahahha) but this is a big blessing for us - our first family trip abroad. Hope there is more to come.

Health wise, our family was generally ok. I got very sickly, but at least it's just me, and not my husband nor my daughter. Like what I always say, better me than them. What's good though is that my annual examination turned out to be ok. No findings. So I guess all my illnesses just stemmed from stress at work. Hahahah.

As to my side of the family - my youngest brother went off to college (sob sob I'm getting old), second to the youngest brother's health was ok (though he gained pounds hahaha) and that his small business is thriving. Sister is happy in Singapore considering that she has got herself a really nice BF. Hahaha. Seriously, I adore "Uncle" Kelvin. Mother seemed happier and is looking forward to her retirement in 2 years. Dad, finally he got the right business again so I see that he is much happier too. Aden, my nephew is still sickly but at least I now he is doing well in school (he is too young for Grade 1 but I thin he has the right brains hahaha).

There are so many other blessings I could think of, both materially and spiritually, and all I can say is that  no matter how many challenges I face in life right now (yes, work, I am talking to you), I know that this life I have is the one for me. It may not be as charmed as the others, but surely what I have is what makes me happy. I have all that I need to live a meaningful life. I have all that I need for 2012 onwards.

So 2011, cheers to you!

Tired

Just got home afte a really tiring, disappointing, depressing, and mostly stressful day. My nerves are sooooo wound up real tight right now and I am this close (imagine me doing that "this close" hand/finger gesture!) to giving up.

I know work is hectic and there is a different kind of pressure compared to my previous work, but I'm not so sure if this is really what I signed up for. Well, I thought it was, but with the current conditions, situations, and challenges, now I am not so sure.

All I can think about is how much of a failure I have been at work... :(

Yeah, it's depression talking. But I can't help but feel that way.

I'm a failure at home, and now I'm a failure at work, the one place or the one part of my life where I thought I excel at.

Yes, depression talking. I have so many hang ups.

I need a break, seriously. But I couldn't. I have so many things in mind. How I wish I could just go to a really luxurious spa and hang out in one of their clawfoot tubs. But I couldn't.

Maybe that's the reason why my cycle was sooooo delayed I thought I was pregnant. But I wasn't.

Work is taking its toll on me.

Yup, this really is me in a depressed state of mind.

For some reason I keep experiencing hiring household help who ends up leaving. Is it the condition of our home or do I just keep on getting the wrong people? Some have too many demands like going home and having overnight every weekend, while some do not like to wear uniforms even though the clothes are really nice and resemble nursing scrubs.

At some point it gets tiring, you know. So tiring that sometimes when I get a new housemate, it's Eanna's Yaya who just handles the introduction and Q and A portion. Too tired to repeat all the house rules, what the tasks are, what the expectations, etc etc.

Yup, I got a new household help. And I really hope this one's gonna last. Please, at least 1 year!

Image from Blusing Noir

I just tried it on this afternoon, and wow. Love it. If you want something special for your nails, then this is it!

Quartz is part of Chanel's Fall 2011:

I really really love my Chanel nail polishes. Here's a quick look for Spring 2012...
I'm feeling the May vernis, for obvious (or not!) reasons. Hehehe.

And I am serious. Seriously. I have gained 15 pounds (at least) over the last year, and I don't think I even changed my eating habits.

I tried things (except exercise hahaha) ranging from the lemonade diet, to limited carbs, to whatever I can think of and I'm still this glump of jiggly fat. Check out these pics...
Fat thighs, bulging tummy, flabby arms. *Sob sob sob*.

I know I should exercise, but maybe there are still other ways.

Like this perhaps?
Hehehehe.

Or probably gardening... will my balcony do? Hahahaha. Sorry, just remembered it since I was earlier in the balcony and my herbs are slowly dying (from neglect, might need a composter to revive all my herbs naturally.

Seriously.

I just want to lose a couple of pounds. And eventually be thin like this woman over here.

I wish. Hahahaha! Aiming for the moon, eh?

I won't be traveling anytime soon, so just to take my mind off the fact that my hubby is away, might as well do things I love doing... like taking tests in Blogthings!

You Should Hail a Cab in Barcelona

You're content with what you have in life, and you can't stand feeling worked up.

You feel like you live a life of abundance. There is so much in your life to feel thankful for.

You prefer to sit back and enjoy every situation life has to offer. You put an optimistic spin on everything.

You don't seek out change, but you don't necessarily avoid it either. If it comes, it comes.

One of the small stuff that I do sweat about is this... imagine you are about to pay in cash in a counter (most likely in a department store) and the cashier asks you.. "Ma'am, do you have a smaller bill..." or "Ma'am, do you have so and so amount?" Seriously, you are a big department store and yet you don't have change?

Definitely I give a bigger bill because, well, that's probably the only money denomination I have, right? Is it just me, or am I the only one using cash now, and so they are not used to buyers paying in cash now? Seriously though, I see the cash drawer and there's enough change, and yet they ask if I have a smaller bill.

Yeah, biatch mode right now. Sorry, the hubby left for work two days ago, so I'm probably in the sourest of moods.

Celine Mini Luggage Tote
*Sob sob sob*

I almost got this. Why did it have to cost thaaaat much? Why did they have to jack up the prices to make me think twice and leave me no choice but to let it pass????

I've wanted this last year. I've promoted this to my Aunt (who is a Birkin addict) and my Mom and both got in different colors. Mom got a really good deal when she got hers. Apparently there are a lot of shops (some hard to find because they have got no address signs) that sold designer bags at cheap prices, but apparently Celine luggage tote bags are so in demand their prices are either at par with store prices, or even higher!

It was supposed to be my turn. I should've been first, you know.

Sigh.

PS: Another option was the Orange color. But I feared that it was too orange.

HK Trip 2011: Beauty Loot

categories: ,
Yes, I know. Every time I go on a trip outside the Philippines, buying some beauty loot is a must. Sometimes, these are all that I get out of my vacay. This is one of those times. Hehehe. Thank goodness there's Sasa. Sasa truly is love.

Let me share with you the measly loot I had for this trip:

1. Ex Volume Cyber Colors Mascara
I wanted to get the Majolica Majorca mascara but the Sasa attendant told me this mascara is way better (and more expensive hahaha). It's a Korean brand - instantly curls, instantly volumes. I tried it and it looked good, so I'm sold.

2. Maybelline pure Mineral Compact Powder

Remember this?
I got this in Singapore earlier this year. Thank goodness I did because this powder just suits me perfectly. Forget Mac Studio Fix or the Chanel white powder that I have always used. Maybelline Pure Mineral Powder is love (and waaaaay cheaper, to boot!).

3. Heroine Make Smooth Liquid Eyeliner

Again, I wanted to get a Majolica Majorca eyeliner, but the Sasa lady highly recommended this. Will try this out soon so I really hope it's good. It's cheap anyways so no harm if ever!

4. Giorgio Armani lipsticks
I've seen Giorgio Armani makeup a long time ago (if I'm not mistaken, I've seen it first in, guess what.. our Duty Free Center!), and that time I didn't get any. Felt they were too expensive (that or I had no moolah or purchasing power that time hehehe).

My interest got piqued again upon seeing this lovely photo of Megan Fox....
I told myself, I want that lipstick!!! And so I got one... two actually. Hehehe.

525 Mauve from the Fall 2011 collection:
107 Sheer beige, 108 Sheer pink beige, 406 Red, and 525 Sheer mauve

I also got this raspberry-colored Sheer lipstick:
I love these lipsticks! If only I got more hahaha! These will do for now, but I plan to get their blush and powder one of these days (hope these are sold in Singapore for my sister to check out and get for me!).

See, measly right?

There were some that I should have bought and now I'm soooo regretting not getting (and these do not include weight loss pills which were sooo everywhere I was slightly tempted to get some hahahaha).

Like these:

Benefit Sugarbomb

Kiehl's Creme de Corps

I was so in a hurry leaving DFS Galleria. I really thought these would be available in the Airport. Shucks.

Anyways, that's all. :P

Whew! I've just been back from our family HK Trip, and boy it was a blast. We stayed for 4 days and these days were so fully packed that when we got home, I could no longer move my feet... as if they just shut down completely hahaha.

Anyways, I'm still downloading our pics so I'll just update later on. Meantime, I'm going to post the measly loot I had.

Yup, measly. As in.

Why?

Because we simply didn't have time to walk around. This vacay was Eanna's - trip to Toys R Us, whole day in HK Disney, and whole day in Ocean Park. See, no time for shopping. Hmph.

Oh well.

See ya in a bit!

MP vs JMM

Today as the first time I ever watched a boxing fight of Manny at pay per view. It was soooo stressful hahaha! I was used to knowing the results first before watching. It was a good experience though, and I would love to watch the "remaining" MP matches live on PPV.

Anyways, well well well. controversial as it seems, I honestly believe that Manny won. Initially, yes, I was a bit confused how he won considering that what I just noticed were the counter punches of Juan Manuel Marquez. It wasn't a good fight of Manny. At all. But after the emotions left me, I reflected again and came up with my conclusion that yes, it was Manny's game. He indeed had a hard time but yes, he won it. The least I can think of is having a "Draw" result. Sure, I was not that convinced that Manny gave it his all, but I was equally not convinced that JMM deserved the title. He was just responding to Manny's blows, considering that supposedly he was the challenger. But don;t get me wrong. It was a very good fight. And I still think that if there's one person who could defeat Manny, it's still JMM, his arch-nemesis.

Yup, if ever I do buy silver dollars and bet all of those, I do think that only JMM can defeat MP. Not Mayweather, as others would think so. Only JMM. Like what I read on twitter, if JMM and MP were married, they'd be soul mates!

Whew. Just got back from our Baguio trip, and though the journey took hours (5 hours one way!), it was soooo well worth it!!!

The little girl was so happy the whole time, referring to the house where we stayed her "winter house." Hahaha. It was soooo cold, but in a really nice way. We went to the usual tourist spot places such as Burnham Park, Wright Park, the Grotto, Tam-awan Village (Garden in the Sky), Strawberry Farm, etc ets.

The hubby and I also had a date night at the Manor where he treated me a lovely dinner... *Sigh*

Many stories to tell but I'm really tired right now. Pics to follow too, and probably a review on what we ate at Le Chef. All I can say is, thank goodness we pushed through with our trip. I would definitely love to go back to Baguio even if traffic is a major bi-atch hahaha. Wish I could always travel and experience other places (makes me want to check out Travel Jobs hahah).

Promise, more pics and stories to come. For now, I must rest. There's work tomorrow! Now that's another battle. Hahaha.

Long Weekends: LOVE

I know, I know, I'e been a very bad blogger ever since I started working, and made worse when the hubby came home for his vacation. I should make an effort to maintain blogging, because this after all, is my therapy for the longest time.

Anyways, just a quick update, our family has some vacays coming up, and we are really excited. This long weekend, we don't ave any plans, save for trick or treating in Powerplant and in our condo. Then, off to a day trip in Batangas on Monday to visit hubby's relatives. Then, probably just stay at home.

But, next week, we plan to go to Baguio! It's been a long time since I last went there... 2005 I think? Super excited! Hubby is conditioning our car already to make sure we'll have a smooth ride (don't know if he went as far as having an auto estimating software). Anyways, I'm looking forward to cooler and more laid back atmosphere. I hope Baguio's it!

Then two weeks after, we'll be in Hong Kong! Yipee!!! HK Disney will be on Christmas mode so that should be really fun for us, especially for Eanna! OCean Park is in our list too, had pre-arrangements already!

So, I hope these vacays are enough topics for me to blog about in the coming weeks. Wish me luck on that though!

You Are Bold and Attention Grabbing

You are resilient. You have an amazing ability to bounce back when it counts.

You are self-confident and sure of what you're doing. You don't second guess yourself.

You stand out in a crowd, and you'd be lying if you said you didn't enjoy it a little.

People look up to you and often emulate you. Never forget the imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

Well I don't really feel it right now. I'm too drained. If only I could have motorola batteries attached to me and give me more energy... *sigh*

Long story, work-related as usual.

Oh well... let's see what happens.

While the husband was waiting for me, he dropped by the Hyundai showroom near my office. His jaw dropped upon seeing the Santa Fe SUV, which he claimed was way better than the Tucson that I once salivated at. I told him I still preferred the Fortuner. Hehehe. I love the bulk. Hahaha.

But just right now, while checking at the latest rv insurance quote websites, I got curious and googled the Hyundai Santa Fe. Lo and behold, there will be a 2012 version coming in this November!

Que guapo! Love love love it! Now I'm sold! The question is, where do we get the funds? Hahahah!

Car Maintenance Quote Rant

I was really happy last time when Honda casa advised us a few months back that for the next maintenance checkup, the cost will be considerably lower. Imagine my surprise when the husband told me the actual cost. It was double the price mentioned to us before!

Of course, I can;t do anything much about it except rant I guess, but come one, is there no one you can trust now when it comes to giving quotes? Do companies have to check out www.trustedquote.com and have their strategy patterned after it? Argh.

Sorry, rant mode in a major level. Oh well. Lesson learned.

Why am I Away?

It's that time of the year when I rarely blog.... You know, that time when I'm too busy because... the husband is here at home for his two-month vacation! Yay!

So far i am loving these days. We're a bit cooler and calmer than before. It used to be that we get to feel each other's mood and things get a bit heated when one doesn't budge. But for a couple of days now, we've been getting along quire well. Hahaha.

I am also thankful because for me, nothing beats having your love, your husband, your co-family maker right by your side. Sure, emotional support is there. But... physical support is there too... Nope, not what thinking, but more on, you know, physical activities. Not what you're thinking again hahahah! I can't seem to get it right, right? What I'm saying is, I have manpower. Hahahaha! From fixing leaking pipes and water pumps to making sure the car gets washed and all. I just love him being around. Hahahaha.

Kidding aside, what matters most is the emotional support I feel whenever I'm down. Though we get to talk everyday and see each other everyday via Skype, nothing beats emotional support couple with physical presence.

And i'm gonna make the most out of this vacation. Sound valid right, to be away from my blog even for a few weeks!

Eanna's Fancy Birthday Soiree!

Finally, the big day has come... Eanna's 4th birthday party at Rainbow Room!

And here is Eanna's Fancy Nancy costume! Gotta love her for looking it and playing the part!
Pink Glasses, hot pink boa, tight bodice and flouncy tutu, lace tights, pearly shoes, white gloves, curly hair and lots of pins. She worked it!
I absolutely loved the cake... it has a French-y Paris-y feel to it courtesy of the Eiffel tower and French poodle cookie toppers!
The kids enjoyed the food (kids love Jollibee hahahah) plus they were really curious with the cake and the cupcake giveaways!
It's quite obvious I had lots of fun preparing for this lovely party. I'm so proud of the outcome! I love love costume parties, and I'm really hoping we'd have one for adults too hahaha! Wonder what would the theme be... (something sexy or fun so that women will come in wearingfrench maid costumes for adultsNYAHAHAHAH!

But wait... there's more!

To all who celebrated with us... Merci Beaucoup!
