Phone Stalking

Ever experienced receiving anonymous phone calls (either they just listen to you are hung up after you say "hello")? Sometimes I do, and it gets so annoying because you would think the caller is someone important (in my case, crew who have urgent concerns) and all. I just wish we have a National Phone Registry like the US. Saw this website and it's very useful especially if you want to know who has been calling you. Just type in the number and you would be given a report on the owner's full name, address, relative information and probably even background information. The site's database includes numbers for most of the states (California, New York, etc.). This would have been really helpful to us here in the Philippines. Oh well, maybe someday soon, we'd get a great site such as this.

In Zara With my Family

It's been a while since my family and I went "window shopping"... together! Usually we break into groups (boys and girls) then just meet when it's time to go home or it's time to eat. Yesterday however, we were in one place: Zara.

I got to check out some stuff and gash... I am digging those boots. Mom however told me to be practical: "when will you wear that, it's a hot country?" True true. Still, I couldn't shake that feeling of wanting to get hold of them boots...

Saw some booties but Mom said the same thing. Grrr...

(Mom in the background)

Here's me giving up on fitting (sis stole a shot)

And here's me and my sibs...

I didn't bring Eanna because we were also out the whole day. We went to Glorietta for a change (forever Powerplant noh!) and dropped by the Assumption Bazaar in Intercon to get the baby pouch J and I purchased. Speaking of that, it was an amazing pouch... up until later that night. My back started aching. I guess I'm not used to it but will give it another try. Sayang naman right?

This time, our cousin brought her gold shades and we did the same thing...

Need For a New Bag

... and it ain't for me! Well, I just noticed that Eanna's diaper bag is too big for our short trips to the mall. It was ok when there were a lot of things to bring back when she was a few months old, plus there was that stroller (yes, we have one, but not being used now) where we can hang the bag.

Now however, we bring less items, and we do not bring the stroller (Eanna is addicted to walking!), so I find it very taxing to bring her big bag. I checked out some diaper bags online, and though it's kinda expensive, I found these Ju Ju Be really nice! Check it out...

But if I really like a smaller one... check this out...

Nice noh? I'm really tempted, but I have to restrain a bit. Think it over. And if I still want it, then I gotta have it. :D

Our Kid's Names

Child’s Name: Eanna Marie

Why the name: Ever since, I liked the name/term Eanna. It's a Sumerian place the principal temple of the goddess Inanna. Rough translation is "house of the heavens." Supposedly her second name is Alessandra (my father's name is Alexander) but since her birth date fell on Sept 8, we decided that her second name be Marie, in honor of Mama Mary.

Now if we had a boy…

Child’s Name: Rafael Enrique

Why the name: I just like the name "Rafael" (ancestor's name) and Enrique is after hubby's name.

I am now tagging my friends JenB, Liv and Jammy. Tell me why you chose your (future or current) child’s name.

While paying for the grocery, a sales person approached me and informed me that I am eligible to get the new Citibank-Rustans credit card. At first I declined immediately, given the "past" I had with Citibank (hello... Citibank personnel using my info and calling me back after a heated argument... called me a b*atch and slammed the phone on me; card continuously being used even if account - which was compromised - was terminated already... thus receiving notices of non-payment and all; calls from debt collection agencies). The girl continued to pursue me, telling me of the perks of getting one: 5-10% discount on purchases, no annual fees, international card, etc...).

Hmmm. This kinda made me think if I should get one. But I still feel uncomfortable about Citibank. If it were AIG or Standard Chartered or any other credit card, I would've gotten it. Oh well. Maybe I'll pass. I'm happy with just one card (and no outstanding balance!).

To Loan or Not?

Since I’m in the “budgeting our finances” mode, and that I’m still planning to get the items in our wish list, maybe I should resort to applying for Personal Loans. I initially thought of availing our company’s Personal Loan benefit, but this would only give me an amount equivalent to my one month salary. I already got the soft loan benefit to managers for our down payment of our condo, so I can’t get another soft loan. Well, at least not yet. Well, the good thing though is that it’s interest-free, so that’s a plus factor.

But still, I would consider a Personal Loan Application from institutions (and even online lending companies such as Personal Loans Markets) and check if the rates are good, the loan amounts are sufficient, and offers nationwide services. I checked out Personal loans Market and its interesting to know that they do not do credit checks for loans up to $1000 and also service those with bad credit (not that I have bad credit).

I know, I know, one must live within one’s means. We do, really. I just don’t like to spend our savings big-time. Hahaha. Gash I can’t wait till dear husband is here. He usually brings me back to my senses and keeps me sane. I think. Hahaha.

If you live in a condo, won't you just love to have a pop up tv like this to save more space and have room for more cabinetry?

This however would mean that you should get an LCD or plasma TV too. reason why I suddenly *wished* to have this is because while I was watching TV last night, I noticed how ugly our TV cabinet was. It was an unfinished job by our contractor's carpenter (among other jobs noh!), which left the cabinet with white paint inside (dark wood stick-on, whatever you call it, outside) and no sliding glass cabinet doors as planned.

*Sigh*

So much wants, so little moolah.

Again, dear V... live a simple lifestyle and you will be happy. Hahahaha.

Will Philam Be Affected?

categories:
Yesterday my colleagues and I talked about the Lehman Brothers bankruptcy, and since AIG was into the picture, one commented... "So, do I still pay my balance in my AIG Card and should I check other international credit cards to replace it?"

Of course, it was a joke, but the issue itself is no joke. Fears of this shaking the Finance world down to its core have not yet disappeared, and a lot of people (like me) are wondering how exposed are the banks (local and international) and the insurance companies where they got policies. I immediately sent a text message to my Philam agent, and it seems to me that the reply, though looks sincerely, was a generic one.

"Your policy is safe. While we are under the AIG umbrella, Philamlife has independent operations. We are governed/monitored by the Insurance Commission and no asset will be dissipated.... the fund you put your money has no offshore investments... We just want to assure you that Philamlife is very much stable and that ON ITS OWN has more than enough reserve funds to cover/meet all its future obligations."

I seriously hope so. That's big moolah (at least for me), you know.

Faulty Faucet

Sheeps. We might have to replace our faucet in the master's bathroom. The flow of water is not nice (some spurts in various directions). It kinda reminds me of something, but don't want to post here (hint: call of nature for women). Other than this, the shower head of the common bathroom is broken too. I reported this already to the Condo Admin but still no word from them as to when they will replace it. Now I have to report the faulty faucet (they should have used Delta faucets for all units noh?), and hope that these two will be repaired before His Majesty (aka as my husband dear) comes home.

Poor Sister (Part II)

I've got something to recommend already for her "acne"! Well, it really did not take long for me to think of one. I suddenly remembered that Mario Badescu Drying lotion is one of the products I considered buying during the time when I was breaking out a bit. Plus I also remembered Martha Stewart recommending Mario Badescu products in one of her Martha episodes. Kinda pricey though (when bought here).

This hopefully will serve as a reminder to my sister to be more patient and wait for her little bumps to heal, rather than picking on them. Picking on them pimples (and people) is a no-no!

Poor Sister

Just got a text from my dear sister, asking me what acne treatment I would recommend for her to use. See, she had this cluster of little bumps in her cheek, and because she was so annoyed and impatient for them bumps to be gone, she kept on picking on them, until the cluster got big and now very visible. My Mom and I warned her before, but she didn't listen, and now she's paying the price.

Since I rarely used acne stuff, I might as well check out some products online and read some reviews before recommending one to her. Poor poor sister.

Family Bonding Fave

For weeks now, my family has been crazy over popcorn! Every Sunday dinner at my Grandma's house, us "kids" always ask for popcorn and when served, the bowl does not even have one minute before it becomes empty. And now that this Sunday is going to be a big family event (you know, the Ateneo vs La Salle finals) which will be held in our Grandma's family room (poor us, we were unable to buy tickets huhuhuh), I'm sure popcorn would be so much in demand that we would need popcorn machines for ample supply. Ok, I'm exaggerating. Hahaha. But anyway, I can't wait till Sunday. I hope we won't get any heart attacks because of the excitement or the tension (or of too much popcorn, haha).

GO ATENEO!

Allergic Me

Ack. For weeks now I have been having allergic reactions to almost anything. My eyes are watery and itchy. I'm continuously sniffing like crazy. I get blotches in my face. I get a nasty cold 75% of the time. Before, my allergy was my perfect excuse to either skip class or be absent at work. It has kept me from having my own pets (no dogs, no cats, thus no need for pet maintenance like cat supplies). But now... It's not funny anymore. It keeps me from focusing at my work. It keeps me away from Eanna. It keeps me from eating seafood and chicken (among others).

I have some anti-allergies with me every time, but hey, I can't Celestamine my way the whole time right? Poor poor me.

To Switch or Not to Switch?

Eanna's pedia has advised me to give her Nido Jr. or Anchor instead of Nan-1, her current milk. Though I'm sure both are healthy and good for kids, I still feel hesitant in giving her milk other than Nan-1. Probably because I'm still in denial that my baby is now a toddler? Or perhaps I feel that she still needs the nutrients from Nan-1 because she still hasn't that much appetite to sustain her throughout the day?

It must have been a sign though last night when I went to Shopwise to buy her milk, and there was no Nan-1. Of course I ahd to buy something else, so I just got a box of Nido Jr. to try it out.

*Sigh*

Time flies so fast, the next thing I know, little angel is already a big girl. Nooooo! She's still a baby in my eyes...

Auto Loans and Budgeting

Last weekend my Dad has asked me if we're pushing through with our plans to get a new car/SUV. This was a sad talk for us (at least for me), because I suddenly realized that since dear hubby will go home earlier than expected and might leave later than expected, our budget might have to be tightened a bit. Plus, I also realized that next year will be the start of our regular amortization, and since we plan to transfer the financing from In-house to Bank Financing, if the Bank would require us to give extra down payment in order for the loan to be transferred then that's a huge expense. It now really depends on my hubby's decision, whether to get a new one (this means checking out suitable Auto Loans) or not. It's good to know however that institutions offering these loans have flexible payment terms and that online companies such as Apex Auto Loan offers services nationwide and gives lowest possible rates - a good help to people like us right?

*Sigh*

It doesn't hurt to dream but I hope our dream will become a reality sooner or later... How soon? Hopefully before E leaves for work again? *Sigh* Cross fingers.

Hmm... wonder if my Dad bought tickets already for the game. Well, if not, I think this will be a bonding time for us... all 4 of us Ateneans against 1 La Salle (my sister). Hahaha. My mom (UP)...she'll bet for Ateneo.

Eanna The Shopper

Last weekend my little baby and I went to Powerplant after her 1-year check-up with her doc. When in Zara, she was so amazed with the clothes and all, she wanted to walk by herself. Everybody were complimenting how well she walks and how cute she is (One teener even said... Awww. I wanna have a baby... nyak!) Anyway, we went to the Kid's section and I fancied this nice little coat. I tried it on Eanna, and she must have loved it that she didn't want it to be taken off. Since I was in splurge-fo-my-angel mode, I just closed my eyes and paid for it. Hehehehe. Then, fearing that she'd slip, we took out her shoes, and then she went crazy walking around. She checked out the shoes and got one and tried to fit it. How cute is that/ Then she went over the racks of clothes as if she's looking for something nice. Hahaha.

Like mother, like daughter? Nyahahahaha.

I felt like a Paparazzi taking pictures of my little baby, following her and all. Hahahaha.

Urban Bazaar @ Powerplant

I must say that last weekend's Urban Bazaar was my favorite one to date. There was more variety, clothes were better, and new shops joined it. What's nice is that this will be held every month till Christmas! Yipee, dear hubby will finally be with me the next time I go there. Entrance fee is still PhP 100 but Yayas don't have any entrance fees. Men have though, because there are 5 shops for men there (should be discounted then, noh?)

Anyway, aside from the smashing clothes offered by various shops (I loved Wisdom, V, Ilaya of course, among others) , what I liked most was Whatshoewear store had a stall there, and I tried on the Tory Burch ballerina flats that I was eyeing for quite a while already. Too bad they didn't have my size.

And the price was too much (PhP 13k, considering it's price is "just" $195). If I can't find one in HK, I would considering buying it here though.

In the meantime, I settled for these Lanvin-esque ballerina flats...

My uber-small feet looked dainty on them! I double-love!

Then there were two stores that sold pre-owned luxury bags. I was really tempted to get the black 2.55 Chanel bag, but good thing I came back to my senses and stopped myself before major damage is done.

I got to buy this really nice CDG-esque "cardigan" from Wisdom. I liked their clothes and maybe I'd drop by Podium (Markati Palazzo) to check out their shop there. My sister was able to get a really nice Balenciaga-type fierce black shoes. I totally loved it and told her to buy it. I gave way so she'd get that one... sicne we have the same shoe size, I can borrow them anytime anyways, hehehehe.

Oh, the best part? I was the first winner of the raffle draw. I won this black top from Splurge in Style...

Nice noh?

I was totally ecstatic upon hearing my name.

We ended the day with dinner at Pepper Lunch, my very first time (I know, late na right?). it was a good meal... more on that later.

Love this weekend!

Feeling Down

... But hopefully this will be in passing. Ok here goes... I'm fairly a tolerant person but I think it's too much already. You know, you think things are settled already and are ok, then you realize it has never been ok because deep inside, there's this deep-rooted feeling - I don't know, insecurity perhaps? - that's really the main reason for whatever issue it was that you have tried to resolve? I don't want to be specific, but really, why is it that there really are those who try to bring you down and try to make you look bad? What's the use right? Why not look at one's self before damning people?

Are those people happy that they hurt others? Nice only when you need something, then become nasty and disrespectful in most days? How vicious can people be!

I hope I will be blessed with more patience and understanding, two things that I'm running out of already. Even if I don't think about it, you cannot help but wonder why. I know, you can't please everybody, but it's really too much. This is not healthy at all.

Car Insurance Part 2

categories:
Since we are in this topic, if ever dear hubby never had any insurance for our car right now, I think I have to suggest to him that if ever we will push through with us buying a new one (very different from my original version of me gifting him with one hahaha, it now depends on the budget), then I guess we have to check out the best online car insurance quotes and packages that would suit us best. I know that Honda offers some sort of package, but hey, I don't know if that package is still out in the market. Or, I could ask my Dad too, who's quite knowledgeable about these things. I know that he has insured our family cars, so maybe he can refer us to a good insurance company. Oh well, shall wait for dear hubby.

Buying a car is now really dependent on our family plans. I know that if we push through with his plans for the benefit of his career, then we definitely have to tighten our budget because he'll be staying here for quite a bit longer, i.e. less income, more expenses. That's aside from the costs involved with regard to the trainings he has to undergo. That's another topic and post though.

Car Insurance

My officemate had a really big gash in her car because of a minor accident (self-inflicted hahaha). Estimated cost of repair is kind of expensive, and it made me wonder if our car is insured. Well, I am a fairly "defensive" driver and I don't take chances, but I'm not so sure about the other drivers out there. Some proved to be very reckless, you know. Anyway, I checked our records and I found out that we don't have any car insurance! The only one we have is the one required when one renews the car registration. Eeps! I don't know if Enrique just failed to get one or if he never really did have any car insurance. Hmm, maybe I should ask him about it.

Stand Up To C

I have watched this very nice TV advertisement regarding standing up to C, meaning Cancer, and I was really touched with the way it appealed to the people. Cancer, from breast to lung to mesothelioma, has affected millions of lives - not only those afflicted with it but the families and relatives of those stricken as well. I dread this disease because people all the while think that they are healthy (and leading healthy lifestyles) and nothing is wrong with them, up until they are diagnosed that something is wrong. And this disease spreads all throughout. You treat one part, next thing another part of you is affected. Admittedly, I know a little about this dreaded C and maybe I should read more about it. I hope there will be more campaigns to promote cancer awareness to people. Time are changing, times are hard already.

Tweeze Me

categories:
I was just preparing to leave the office and go home, so I went to the rest room to freshen up a bit, and to the horror of my horrors, I found tiny dots in my eyebrow area. I suddenly realized that this was caused by my tweezing talent and how poorly I did the deed. Earlier I took off some stray hairs using my old tweezer, and now I regret using it because I knew that it's already old and needed replacement, but I was far too lazy to go to Watson's or Beauty Bar to get me a new one. Actually, I have been wanting to get something really nice, such as this Rubis red number, but aside from it not being sold here, I just can't seem to ignore the fact that it costs a lot!

I just hope that the next time I go to the mall, I will find something similar.

The Collector

categories:
I was trying to begin fixing our home in preparation for the coming of dear husband, and I found (again!) the Shell Ferrari toy cars that he collected. This kind of annoyed me (again!) because these little collectibles are really out of place in our home design, and I have nowhere else to place them.

Honestly, I am not a fan of collecting any items, and I don’t know if I will ever be interested in having a collection of my own. Do bags count though? Hahaha. Kidding. Anyway, I have known a couple of relatives who have their own thing. I have seen two huge albums of stamp collection of my Aunt. I was amazed at how meticulous she was, making sure that these stamps were carefully (and lovingly I assumed) put in order and that spacing between the stamps is ample, to ensure symmetry and good aesthetics. My Dad had amassed a couple of collectible spoons from various countries where he had been to. These are displaced in his den.

Ok, going back to Enrique’s cars… I better keep them first in a safe place (hopefully he won’t notice that his cars are no longer in the kitchen ledge – gash, totally an eye sore in my home lab!) and just bring them out in the future… perhaps when he has a den of his own?

The Party Before Christmas

categories:
As early as now, Christmas decor is being sold in the malls. But of course, I'm not really that interested to buy these stuff, because I'm still thinking of one party - a fun one - before we go in Christmas mode... Halloween! gash, I love this "celebration" simply because we would have fun dressing ourselves as creatively as we can. I remember those parties held at friend S's place, and we had to come up with unique costumes and all. The last one though was not a private party but a big event at the Fort. I dressed up as Selene of Underworld. Leather jacket, knee-high boots, black pants, plus I had fangs made. Hahahah. I wonder where that is now. It was really a nice touch and it felt like real teeth. Hehehe.

Anyway, last year we also celebrated Halloween but just in our home.

Look at little Eanna! Hahahah. Love this picture.

This year however, I want to throw a nice little party for kids. Low-budget of course, but I want it to have a real party feel to it - costumes, simple food, Halloween invitations, trick or treat goodies, decor, etc. Kids only though! Hahaha. We'll see, as it depends on our budget, if this can still be accommodated. Fun noh?

Feeling Lonely

We had a blast last night celebrating Eanna's birthday. I tried not to think about it, but still, I cannot help but wished that my dearest husband was with us. I'm sure he would have been very happy and proud of his little daughter. Now I finally had to face the reality (I thought I did before, but half heartedly I guess) that there will be very special occasions when hubby will not be here to celebrate with us. I was happy that my family was with us to celebrate, but I couldn't stop this aching feeling that it wasn't as complete as it should be. Now I don't know how long before we would finally say that it's about time for dear E to stop sailing and just work here. Maybe right now I should start looking into small business opportunities and save money in order to start our own business. Times are hard right now, and maybe I really should re-think my spending habits and lead a simpler lifestyle.

For now, I guess, we have to sacrifice a bit in order to have a better future for our little family.

Eanna'S Pre-Birthday Loot

Here's Eanna's pre-birthday loot, courtesy of the Mama of course. Hahaha.

I also bought her another pair of sandals plus three dresses. She totally loves the mini-grocery cart, complete with goodies. And the strawberry shortcake shades? Goodness, when I tried to get it from her, she cried like crazy!

Last night, we got to celebrate with my in-laws, who graciously gave more goodies to Eanna. Since our home is small, I had to break the birthday party into two. Tonight will be dinner with my family. We set up some balloons and banners already. Gash, it's so exciting. But I think it would be more exciting during the big party of Eanna this November (when the Papa is here).

Of course, I became a little Drama Queen, and hid last night in our room for a short time, you know, to shed a tear because hubby is not here to be with us.

Anyway, enough for now. Gotta get back to work... will leave lunch time to spend more time with my baby... it's her big day today. Love you my angel.

To My Dearest Angel... My First Baby

Dear Eanna,

Today marks your very first birthday, and perhaps today no mother is more proud than I am. I am so happy to have been blessed with a wonderful, amazing, beautiful little human being to love for the rest of my life.

You are growing up real fast right before my very eyes, and though you will continue to grow, believe me when I say that you will always be that little baby who I held in my arms and gave so much love when you came into this world.

I love you my little angel. Thank you for bringing so much joy into my life.

With so much love,

Your Mama

I'm sooo emotional right now. I can't believe a year has passed since I gave birth to the most beautiful baby. I still get so amazed to have this little human being, who gives me so much joy and love.

I love you my darling, my own Strawberry Shortcake. Mama will always be here for you.

The Online Clinic and Pills

The week-long illness of Eanna has given me quite a scare, even if her pediatrician and my Uncle (who’s also a pedia) told me that she’d be fine. As soon as I had spare time, I tried to check out in the Net anything and everything about Roseolla. Funny, I came across this online clinic totally not related to what I was initially researching for. Anyway, it is an Online clinic that mostly deal with adult concerns – weight loss, hair loss, smoking, and some “intimate” concerns. Of course, I checked out the page on weight loss and use of Diet Pills.

I was amazed at the medications provided, and each of these cater to different “cases,” if I may use the word. For example, those who keep on dieting and exercising but still manage to gain considerable amount of weight can take Reductil. I know a couple of people who might be interested in taking these. Consultation and prescription is needed for this, but no worries, since the website offers free consultation. For really overweight and obese people, Acomplia pills might be of interest. Again, consultation is needed when using this, and should be taken while continuing diet and exercise. This pill has more to do with helping to control the endocannabinoid system – the one responsible in regulation or consumption, use and expenditure of energy. More info of course are found in the Online clinic’s website.

Anyway, just want to share this “internet find” and hopefully this will be of use to people out there.

Eanna's Pre-birthday Shopping

Little shortcake and I went to the mall this morning to do her pre-birthday shopping. I went gaga over clothes and toys and didn't hesitate splurging on these goodies. They're for my best girl after all. The loot? Three dresses, a pair of shoes, a pair of sandals, another musical toy - house piano, a mini grocery cart with goodies, two soft balls, a toy mobile phone, bubble gun, a strawberry shortcake shades, hmm did I miss anything?

I also bought simple party decor for two special dinners for her birthday - tomorrow with my in laws, and with my family exactly on Eanna's birthday.

I felt really happy when my baby seemed to enjoy all my gifts for her. There's so much more but I prefer that dear hubby will be here to buy the other gifts. But hey, shopping part two will be in powerplant tomorrow. Love you my darling baby, happy birthday!

Missing the Preps

Last weekend, our wedding supplier for photography and videography paid me a visit in order for us to finalize our wedding album. I know, I know, it's almost two years already since we got married, and this was long overdue already. Hopefully, we will get our album and video before our second anniversary. Haha.

Anyway, this meeting has brought me back memories of us preparing for our wedding. Most of the suppliers were a breeze to work and coordinate with. My main concern however is my bridal dress. Don't get me wrong, Veluz Reyes did a fantastic job, I totally loved (and still love) the gown she made for me. But of course, this was one aspect that every bride feared... you know, what if my gown or the Bridesmaid Dresses will turn out horrible?

I have probably missed this preparation too much, and got curious as to what's the latest in Wedding Dresses. I came across this nice website that offers wedding gowns with the best prices they can offer. They have been selling wedding gowns for 29 years, and there's so much to choose from! Not only do they offer bridal dresses, but also offer gowns for bridesmaids, flowergirls, and even Mom's dresses. The designs range from contemporary to classic, with different silhouettes as well.

If I were to choose among the Bridal Dresses, this would be my pick...

Hahaha, I still want those big dresses!

BestBridalPrices.com also sells lingerie, bridal shoes, veils, and other accessories every bride needs. For those who need the dresses asap, they also have products that can be delivered quickly.

So for those bride to be's out there, do check out this website. It really is a one-stop shop for you.

Fever

My poor angel has fever since yesterday, and though she's still very active and eating well, I'm still very worried. I didn't go to work today, and it seems like I won't go to work tomorrow. Not until my baby's fever is completely gone.

Her fever shot up to as high as 39+, and that gave me a sleepless night last night. Dear little girl must have been very uncomfortable because she kept on rolling and gave out small cries. Today however she improved a bit and played as if she's not sick. We went to the doctor and he said that if fever still persists, it would mean it's viral and my baby would have to take a different medicine.

I really hope she'll get well soon. I can't feel well unless she is.
