Van's List 2: TV Nights

categories: ,
When it comes to fashion, I definitely love the Fall Winter collection. I guess it is the same when it comes to TV shows, because I seem to enjoy more the Fall TV lineup. :) This year, there is just too much to choose from, but I just have to put in my list those that I couldn't wait to see. Here are the 6 shows that keep me late at night and leave me wanting for more.

1. Quantico - this was one of the shows I have eagerly anticipated ever since I learned about it a few months ago. It is by chance that I stumbled upon it, and I almost forgot about it until I saw the list of Fall TV Premier again (thanks Cinemablend). The storyline is very promising, with the right amount of action and mind games.

2. Scandal - started late with this, but thank goodness I got in the bandwagon. Question is, how long till the angle of failed attempts of being together gets old? Not sure about that, but for now, I still keep on waiting for the next episode after watching the last.

3. Reign - Craig Parker  aka Stephane Narcisse. Enough said. :D

4. Downton Abbey - I still feel sad that this is going to be the last season. I will miss all the characters once the show's curtains fall. I do have all the seasons, so I can watch it whenever I feel like it. :)

5. The Good Witch - LOVE LOVE LOVE. The Good Witch used to be a yearly movie offering by Hallmark Channel, but early this year Hallmark offered it as a series. Though the 2nd season will start early next year, the Halloween special was already shown. I just can't get enough of the series (and the earlier movie offerings), and I love it enough to watch everything at least three times already.

6. The Originals - I have loved The Vampire Diaries since it aired, but there is something in the spin-off "The Originals" that pulled me more. This 3rd season first fees episodes provide that I will be glued again to this show.

Honestly, there are a lot more shows that I watch, so yeah, here are the rest of the shows that keep me up till the wee hours of the morning, and kept me from getting out of bed too!

  • Gotham
  • Scorpion
  • NCIS LA
  • Blindspot
  • Minority Report
  • Supergirl
  • Scream Queens
  • The Bastard Executioner
  • Marvel's Agents of SHIELD
  • The Flash
  • Arrow
  • American Horror Story
  • Law and Order SVU
  • Chicago PD
  • Code Black
  • Empire
  • Rosewood
  • Heroes Reborn
  • How To Get Away With Murder
  • Grey's Anatomy
  • Sleepy Hollow
  • The Black List
  • The Vampire Diaries
  • Haven
  • Ancient Aliens
  • Da Vinci's Demons
  • The Walking Dead
  • The Last Kingdom
  • CSI Cyber
  • The Good Wife
  • Madam Secretary
  • Homeland

Da Vinci Shows, Theories, Etc.

Yes, I am back to bed rest after our Head practically ordered me to take care of myself, rest and not think about work for the meantime.

So, here I am super bored at home. I can't even play with my daughter because right now she has this viral eye infection. I feel sad because she is so desperate in being with me. :(

But anyways, I'm back to my old habit of downloading tv shows not currently shown here. What's new in my list are: Hannibal (kinda gruesome but hey, the title itself should warn anyone right?), Da Vinci's Demons, Cult, The Following, Vikings, did I miss anything? Of course, no need to mention my regulars, like Game of Thrones, Mad Men and the like.

I'm also glad Ancient Aliens resumed. Apart from this, I also downloaded movies that I already watched but wanted to again. Da Vinci Code! National Treasure! Hahaha. I know, some people call me a fanatic of conspiracy theories, but hey I can't help it. There really are some mysterious things out there. Ancient and masonic symbols (check out a sample masonic ring here) really do make me think that maybe there really is more to history than what is taught. Hahaha.

That's it for now. Back to regular viewing (and downloading) for me!

Sick + TV Series Marathon

categories: , ,
I've been sick for the past 3 days, and it would've been a bummer if not for Grey's Anatomy and Sex and The City.

Yep, I have been doing tv series marathons for days now, and somehow it made me feel better amid the chills, clogged nose, headaches, and of course, the lethal combination of fever and asthma.

Did Grey's Anatomy for the first two days, and today, it was SATC.

Goodness, I missed SATC so much. Until now I haven't watched a show that I have related to with so much passion. Well at least back then, when I was single, SATC was THE show.
Yes, I was a late bloomer when it came to this show, only got to watch it after my (ex)bf told me that I was the real life Carrie Bradshaw (minus the fashion sense and writing skills though hahaha). I remembered that statement. I was saying something, trying to be a drama queen, when he just laughed and said "Do you watch SATC? Because you should watch it, this Carri Bradshaw character, that's you. It's scary."

Nowadays, there isn't a show that I can relate to in real life that much, because most of the stuff I watch are either sci-fi, murder stuff, medieval-ish, or for-singles shows.

Closest is probably Grey's Anatomy, which is my newfound fave. I can't vouch for the accuracy in portraying medical conditions, treatments, and discussions such as Tysabri side effects, but the show looks convincing to me.
Yeah, I know. It took me what, a couple of years behind to unearth this show. But better late than never. I love it. I love the message it gives. Yeah, this is one show I could relate to.

Anyways, break time over, will probably write about this next time. I hope SATC inspires me enough to get me back into my good old blogging habits.

Hope I get well soon.

12 Things I'm Loving Right Now

Since I'm sick at home and have nothing to do, might as well post something here in my blog. Here's a list of What I'm Loving Right Now.

1. Medieval TV- yep I'm into Medieval TV right now, specifically "Game of Thrones." I'm so glued that I'm thinking of reading the whole book series altogether. We'll see!

2. Cambridge Satchels - yep, I can't seem to get enough of it. But, sigh, enough is enough too. I'm happy with my yellow and green bags. Sister wants a red one, so maybe getting one isn't over for me yet (won't be paying that though hahahah what a cheapskate sister I am!)

3. Pepper Lunch Promo of Standard Chartered Bank - It seems like every week we eat in Pepper Lunch. Thank you Standard Chartered Credit card for this promo! I hope this is extended and that it will offer other selections!

4. Nina Garcia's "The One Hundred" - I didn't know what to get among Nina Garcia's books but I chose this one, and I'm glad I did! Most likely I'll be getting the very first book, "The Little Black Book of Style." It is a must-read for those fashion-philes out there!

5. Vigilant Citizen - I love this blog! Everyday I check it out just to see if there are new posts about "sinister sites," "occult places," the Illuminati, New World Order, etc etc. This blog satisfies my curiosity. Do check it out.

6. Talkative Eanna - yes, my darling daughter is soooo talkative these days, I can't keep up. IT's true, what they say, that once your little baby begins to talk, he/she will talk non-stop. Love Love Love.

7. Jewelmer Pearls - Yes, I'm now a pearl convert. All I have to do is save uo and muster all my strength to finally get them golden pearls.

8. White Denim Pants - just when you think summer is over, you suddenly feel that you gotta need something summery. And for me, white jeans it is. Thank goodness I found a nice one that really suits me well.

9. Net-A-Porter Magazine - I wait every week for the latest issue, and Net-a-porter magazine always never fails. Love love love this.

10. Mike Shinoda / Linkin Park - need I say more? I will meet them someday. Yes, meet them.

11. TKEES Slippers - I recently blogged about these TKEES slippers and I can't wait till I get myself one!

12. Trench Coat - Yep, the yearning is still there (and yep, I recently blogged about trench coats too. Too recent, actually just this morning hahaha). Don't care what the hubby says that our weather doesn't permit wearing this (coz I surely don't bugger him about getting ATV Parts you know). Our office is cold. And so I must get myself one.

That's just about it for me. How about you guys? Please do share the things you're loving right now!

EDIT:

Oooh! How can I forget this lovely gadget??? Didn't mean to leave it out!

The ipad 2 makes my list to 13 items. Nice!

Medieval TV

My favorite TV shows CSI, CSI Miami, CSI NY, Law & Order SVU, Gossip Girl, NCIS LA, Law & Order LA, The Vampire Diaries, and Glee (did I miss anything) have either recently ended or about to end. This means that I need more shows to keep me awake at night (instead of checking out hemo rage reviews!). Hahaha.

I've found two actually, both very interesting to me. First is Camelot. I've been fascinated by Arthurian legends, and have probably read all the famous books (my fave is Mists of Avalon) about it. This latest TV show has a very different twist in it. Actually a lot of twists, rather far from the stories we are (or I am) used to.

Eva Green as Morgana. Joseph Fiennes as Merlin. Need I say more?

Then, on to HBO's Game of Thrones.

Sean Bean as lead. The plot is not Tolkien-ish, though this is a totally different medieval world. This is based on George R. Martin's "A Song of Fire and Ice" series. I have not read these books nor have heard of them before. But the plot (at least for now) is very interesting. Production value is high. I love it actually. Really good actors too.

Do check out these two new shows and get hooked!

Teenage Dream

I'm not talking about Katy Perry's original version. What I am obsessing about is Glee's version of Katy's song "Teenage Dream." Check this out!

What a wonderful voice. That's Darren Criss. And guess what, he's half Pinoy (and half Irish, what a cool blend)! I'm not surprised because I know Filipinos are very very talented (and smart among other positive characteristics!).

Anyway, I read that he's gonna be a Glee regular. Yay! Oh and I read too that another Filipina, Hazel Faith dela Cruz will grace an episode of Glee.

She's the winner of Glee Off to Hollywood Promo.

Galing ng Pinoy!

PS: Yes, It is a Cyber Monday for me today hahaha. I've been checking out videos nonstop from Linkin Park to Mary Bergin to Land Before Time to even TinkerBelle. Well actually, every day is a cyber day for me I guess. Hahaha!

Mad Men in Rolling Stone

Ok, I'm on a TV series roll here. But heck, I got this through Kevin's tumblr...

Love it!!!

Goodness, now I don't know what TV show gets my award for "My Favorite TV Series." Plus I have this new liking for "He's Beautiful" which is a Korean Telenovela. Light show and very funny.

Why can't Filipinos make these kinds of shows. In Pinoy teleseryes, the plot is too complicated, and the villans are just tooo evil. Slapping, screaming, conniving, evil-plotting, revenge. Gash.

Mad Men and Being a Housewife

categories: ,
I know, it has become a habit of me that I don't blog that often these days. Well, aside from the husband being here and that he prefers that I stay away from the Internet world as often as possible, I am also hooked on Mad Men.
At first, I found it a little dragging. But then, it grew on me and now I just watch the episodes one after the other. Just like the Tudors craze of mine.
My big question though, is....

Shall I allow myself to learn a thing or two on being a housewife as per the show? You know, the 60's version of being a housewife: serving the husband, full-time attending to the kids and the house, etc etc.

What I want to emulate though is the fashion! Imagine, all dolled up, made-up, and bejewelled (yes I am, but more like the game) even when at home. Even while doing house chores.
And of course, being the perfect hostess when there are guests.

Actually, I think I am channeling the fashion lately. Hahaha. I was in Salcedo Market earlier today and I was wearing this B&W checkered shift dress and oxfords. Hahaha. The other day, I was wearing red lipstick at home too.

Yeah, maybe I'll try a little on becoming that housewife, then we'll see which the husband will prefer (although i have a strong feeling what he'd like more hahaha).

The City: Guilty Pleasure

I have found another guilty pleasure in the form of MTV's "The City."

I wanted to watch something totally different from the CSI franchise, as this was what kept me awake at night for days now. And since I just finished watching the latest season of CSI, I decided to watch something else before moving on to the latest season of CSI: Miami.

Now, The City.

This show is crazy, I tell you. Catty, catty, catty. Not to mention the bitch-factor of Olivia Palermo is Empire State-high. I love her face, I know I blogged about her last year. But man... her character is totally bwitchy.

Sometimes I couldn't take it, but then, well, it is a guilty pleasure so I continue to watch. Hehehe. Must transfer some of the movies I already watched into my flash drive to make way for newer tv shows. Hehehe.

Have you watched this tv show yet?

Hell-o to Glee

I was waiting with anticipation on the return of Glee, and was semi-obsessed in downloading the latest episode. No success though, so I just headed over the FastPasstv.com and watched it online.

The episode was.... ok. I wasn't that blown away compared to what I felt upon watching the first episode of the The Tudors (last season, huhuhuh). And it's not because I prefer watching The Tudors because of this....

It's more on, I don't know, the x-factor is a bit missing? Not sure but it really was a bit "blah" to me. The songs, I really didn't dig them that much too.

Nonetheless, I'm still glad that Glee has returned and I am looking forward to great episodes.

So here is the list of what's keeping me busy now:
  • Glee
  • Gossip Girl
  • The Tudors
  • The Vampire Diaries

Love the Internet! Hahahaha!

My Current TV Obsession: The Tudors

I know, I am so late on getting hooked. But I am. Why haven't I watched this series before???

Thank goodness for torrents, I was able to download all series. Last night i finally started watching. And I couldn't stop!!! My husband had to remind me to sleep, or else. Hahaha.

Plot is very good, lots of twists and turns though of course, we all know history, right? But the scenes, my goodness. Veyr realistic. Even the sex scenes were woowoowie. I was probably blushing while watching hahaha.

But do watch it, if you still haven't.

I guess this will be my temporary relief for today, after the Pierre Herme Gashapon incident. Huhuhu.

I slept late last night to download the 15th episode of The Vampire Diaries, only to find a fake video today. ACK!

I should have wiki-ed it and checked out the episode list. "A Few Good Men" episode has not yet aired, and will only be aired tomorrow, US time of course. ACK.

Fine. Will download it on Saturday, I'm sure it's available that time.

Have You Been Bitten?

I know I should have blogged about this last year, but better late than never.

There's this series called "The Vampire Diaries" that kept me busy last year; hence, the lack of blogging and endless arguments with my hubby (you're always in front of the laptop!!!).

It is kinda similar to the Twilight series, where the setting is in a small town and involved high school kids and "teenage" vampires. The similarities end there though, because not only is it darker in theme, but also because the plot itself is more interesting. Sure there is this great love between the vampire and the teenage girl, but it's not the sickeningly sweet / obsessed kind. And there's more it than the ordinary teenage girl. There's history in her which makes her character even more interesting, you'd be curious what happens. Well I at least am dead curious hahaha. I just hope that as the series goes on it won't devolve into weird twists and all. Hate that when it happens to great TV shows (hello Pinoy series, can you hear me?).

At least there's a show that runs while I wait for the next episodes of...

Glee!

Yup, I'm a bitten Gleek. Hahahaha!

ABS CBN's 2009 Christmas Station ID

categories: ,
The first time I saw ABS CBN's Christmas Station ID for 2009, my initial feeling was "wow, very nice." Message is quite clear, and reminds us what Christmas is all about.

ABS CBN for me always makes remarkable station IDs, and in my opinion, always better than GMA's. However, I cannot help but wonder if the station really does take into heart and put into action the messages that they always put across. This year, there were some actions of the station that I frowned upon (hello, Willie issue?!?) and convinced me that at the end, it's all about money.

Again, I just pray that their message in the Christmas ID will remind us what our priorities are and what we should be doing. I hope the station will not just be a "messenger" but the mover as well. Walk the talk, talk the walk, walk the walk, talk the talk.

History Channel Feature on The Financial Crisis

History Channel feature on the Financial Crisis.

This was what I watched last night, and after watching it, I felt this uneasy feeling about this whole thing. Maybe we haven't felt it that much here in the Philippines (except of course in the office where our vessels are being laid up as effect of the crisis), but watching the feature made this situation even more real to me. It narrated what had happened to the 1920's during the Great Depresison, and how similar it was to what is happening right now. The difference though was in the 1920's it's more on the crash of the stock market and is contained in the US. the crisis right now is, as we all know, is more global, and does not only involve stocks. Insurance and life insurance rates, mortages and the fall of value of real estate, and most importantly, credit, are the major concerns now. Back then, Roosevelt had this "The Deal" in roder to address the situation, and though measures were taken (start of the SEC for one), it proved to be unsuccessful, and the commentary claimed that it was the World War that got the US our of the slump. Now, Pres. Obama is being likened to him, and the world is watching as to how he will address the global situation. The conclusion though is that maybe the US will no longer be the sole influence in the market today. We'll see.
