Check this out!

Eanna is wearing a DVF x Gap Kids dress!

We dropped by Gap at the Fort and checked out the latest collection of Gap for Kids. The little girl loved this dress plus this one...
So I just got both!

Little girl didn't want to take off the black dress so she just wore it immediately. Hahaha. The second dress, she chose the color.

I also wanted to get this for her, but hubby already gave me the evil eye. Maybe I'd sneak it one of these days hahaha.

However, if I get to see this jacket (didn't find it in the store), i'd definitely get it for my little lady...
It's got a really nice design which is similar but more interesting than other jackets that are military models that I've been wanting to get her before.

*Sigh* I wish I had more moolah so I could splurge and buy the whole collection as my graduation gift. Hahaha!

Check out DVF x Gap here!

This collection is available only in The Fort and Shangri-la branches. Hurry and check it out!

Feeling Blue

I don't know, but I really feel a bit off today. Started this afternoon, and lingered till now. This afternoon, I was busy preparing the letters for my staff on their job levels, salary increases, and performance bonuses. As I browsed through them, I started thinking about my own (I haven't seen mine). It just made me think that *sigh* I was really hoping that I'd have a good performance assessment. It was ok, and likely I'd receive a bonus too. It's just that I cannot help but feel sad for myself, because my score wasn't exactly what I have always gotten in my previous companies. I guess I'm just used to being sorta "top of the class" type of thing, and now, *sigh* it's not the case.

Gosh, can't believe I'm this down. I wanted to post something in FB but decided against it. Wanted to check out retail stuff like those in Personal Creations Facebook but then again I didn't want to splurge or spend too much just because I'm depressed.

*Sigh*

Sometimes I still think and wonder if this is the right work for me, if I'm in the right company, or if I really deserved that kind of assessment.

Yet, I just try to console myself that at least I have a job that pays good in a way, and that my work is something that honestly I do enjoy.

Oh well. Till next year I guess.

I finally took the plunge and got myself a nice little makeup case! Wanted to get the zebra print version but it was out of stock, and they weren't sure when it will be available. I don't have that much makeup hahahaha but it's ok. At least all of them are stored in one place.

Goop Spring!

Not sure what others feel about I definitely love reading GOOP - Gwyneth Paltrow's virtual corner! Haven't checked out her blog for the longest time, but I guess her newsletters are enough already. Latest that I've read and enjoyed were her Spring style and her dinner with Jose Andres.

Yup, two thing I like most: Fashion + Food. Hahahaha.

First up is the Spring Style. Check out it out here:

These were my faves:

Whew. Totally love all these looks. If I were to get all of these, I'd have to get lots of retail boxes to stack up all my loot, hahahaha!

Then there's the dinner newsletter here:
Check out the paella...

CHICKEN & PAELLA RECIPE:

¼ cup Spanish olive oil
3 cups diced seasonal vegetables such as green beans, zucchini, baby squash, cauliflower
1 cup seasonal mushrooms
2 pounds organic chicken legs and thighs, cut up
1 tablespoon chopped fresh garlic
1 cup grated fresh tomato
a pinch of saffron
4 cups mineral water
½ cup dry white wine
1 teaspoon pimenton (Spanish smoked paprika)
2 cups Spanish bomba or calasparra rice

Heat the olive oil in a 15-inch paella pan over medium-high heat. Once hot, sear the vegetables until they get a nice brown color. Remove vegetables from the pan and reserve. Add the chicken in small batches to the pan and sear until skin is golden and crisp. Remove the chicken and reserve. Add the chopped garlic and cook for 2 minutes. Stir in the grated tomato and cook for 1 minute making sure to scrape up all the browned bits from the chicken. Pour in the wine and let it reduce by half, about 2 minutes.

Return the vegetables and chicken to the pan and pour in the mineral water. Allow the mixture to boil for 2 minutes to flavor the water. Then stir in the rice. Season to taste with salt and boil for 10 minutes. Do not stir the rice again, as this can cause the rice to cook unevenly.

Crumble the saffron across the top of the paella and sprinkle the pimenton evenly. Do not stir the rice. Cook for another 5 minutes. Remove the paella from the heat, cover with a clean kitchen towel and let the paella rest for 5 minutes before serving.

GRILLED BUTTER OYSTERS RECIPE:

12 oysters
6 tablespoons butter
¾ teaspoon mace, freshly ground
¾ teaspoon Black peppercorn, freshly ground
Melt the butter in a small pan.

Place the whole, raw oysters on a rack on the grill. Allow the oysters to begin opening. Once they begin to open, immediately remove the flat half of the shell. Place the oysters back on the rack. Top the oysters with butter and allow the grill to flame up - this will add more flavor to the oysters. Sprinkle the oysters with fresh ground pepper and mace. Serve immediately.

School Girl

WARNING: SENTI POST.

Or maybe not that sentimental. Hahaha. I came back to my senses just as I typed those words. Anyway, since I am on sick leave right now, I'm left alone here at home while hubby is doing some errands while the little girl is school. Later today we will head back to her new big school to enroll her for next school year.

This thought of her going to school where I studied is the one putting me on senti mode right now. I mean, hello, my baby girl (who I still call baby girl) is now going to a big school by June. She will have more friends, more activities, and more time to develop her talents and skills. I guess I'm all sentimental because my baby girl is fast growing and becoming more independent. You know, I'm feeling like time is too fast, the next thing I know, she will have a family of her own and leave me.

Yes, I'm that much of a forward-thinker. Hahaha. But seriously, these thoughts get me teary-eyed. I want her to be forever mine, forever the baby girl who keeps on telling me she loves me, who keeps on giving me multiple kisses (especially if she wants something). Will these ever end? Will these stop once she goes to school and realize that it may not be all that cool to be sticky-clingy to old Mama?

*Sigh*

I better stop or else my cold will worsen. There's this big lump on my throat right now, just by thinking about Eanna growing up. But I guess it's what every mother has to face, the fact that we don't own our kids, but merely we help as much as we can to develop and groom them to be fine and good-hearted adults.

Ok, I better stop, seriously. Bye for now.

Weekend @ Nasugbu

I'm down with a cold (and sore body) right now, but it's ok, because the main culprit for me being sick was a really pleasant one... a weekend trip to Nasugbu, Batangas!

It was a major major afterthought one early Saturday morning when the little girl suddenly said that she wanted to go to the beach and play with sand. Hubby, being very eager to please our dalring, told me to book asap for an overnight stay. And so I did.

It was a trip well worth it! The little girl enjoyed playing at the beach, while we enjoyed eating, hahaha. Got some T-bone steaks and crabs for dinner! The next day, we hired a boat for us to have a boat ride. We loved every minute of it!

Look at Eanna's face here hahahah!

This was how we ended our day at home...

Who wouldn't want this every week right? Goodness, all these weekend bliss makes me crave for more. If only we had enough moolah then I would love to do this every week, going to all fab places in the Philippines!

Well... actually, I surprised hubby with a new vacation spree this April... Here's a sneak peek...
Still in the Philippines, but yeah, I'm sooo very looking forward to this trip!

Anyways, need to rest now. Gotta get well because I can't afford to be on sick leave again (workaholic talking). Hahahaha!
