Weekend Sickness and Work

categories: ,
I noticed that ever since I began working again, I've always felt ok during work weeks but slumped and all sick during weekends. This never happened before prior to my current work. What's different this time?

Then I realized that the amount of passion I have and the intensity of my engagement to my current work might be taking their toll on me. That when it's time to rest and unwind during weekends, the kinks are still there and my body just gives up and feels the maximum impact of my fervent drive at work. This week alone, 70% of my time was with meetings with different people, here and abroad (yes, business conference calls at zip conferencing). The remaining was devoted to reports and coming up with analysis on challenging areas.

I know I should take care of myself more, just chill a bit, and maybe lower my level of engagement just a tad bit.

I really don't know why I've become so devoted with my current job. I just hope it's worth all the weekends missed due to sickness.

Eanna Hospitalized!

categories: , ,
Home sweet home. After 5 days of staying in the hospital, we're back home.

Yup, the little girl was hospitalized since last Thursday, due to... guess what... Dengue + Pneumonia + Acute Tonsillopharingitis. Now is that stressful or what?!? I cried a river upon hearing this from the doctor, and felt that I was at my lowest as a mother. How did that happen? Well apparently, pneumonia and ATP were likely complications of dengue, so it's not like these were totally not connected.

That was really scary for me, as I wondered how come the little girl is so pampered and all, and yet she got sick that way. What scared me even more was her fever that never went away, up until the very last moment before being discharged. So many blood tests, so many needles, so many medicines to take.

But the little girl was very strong and brave. She only wanted me to hold her hand whenever blood was extracted, whenever she needed to take medicines, and during her x-ray. Brave brave child.

That's the power of mother-daughter connection I guess. And I'm glad I was one of her sources of strength. I love you my daughter. I promise to be there for you always and keep you from harm as much as I can.

Fancy Nancy for Eanna

Eanna's birthday is 2 months from now, and i'm already thinking if she will have a birthday party or we'll just head to HK Disney.

If we decide to throw her a party, this is what I have in mind: FANCY NANCY!

I think this theme will definitely suit my little girl! I can just imagine Eanna with her hair curled, plus those trinkets and a truly kikay outfit! Hahahaha!

Yes, I'm such a late bloomer. i just recently discovered the art of Tumblr-ing, and how I am loving it. I hope this is not just a phase (just like my Bloglines days), as I am also active in my Tumblr account. This is different from this blog, so I hope you do check it out as well.

But anyways, these are some of my favorite Tumblr sites that I've been stalking:

Classy in the City

The Glitter Guide

Everything Fab

Bennoda Bliss

Linkin Park Love

Hope you find inspiration in these sites too! Happy Tumblr-ing!

Gifts for the Hubby

categories: ,
Hubby and I will celebrate 7 years of togetherness (different from our wedding anniversary hahah!) tomorrow, and I was thinking what simple gift I could give him. For one, I have to consider his conditions: nothing too expensive and just something simple. I really wanted to buy him those Tod's loafers but his refusal to take that is just stressful, so I'll forget about that for now.

I realized that maybe I should give him something he could use in formal events - whether onboard (he is a senior officer now) or here onshore. He has a couple of long sleeves already, and now I'm thinking of giving him those extra touches: cufflinks silver or gold, but most likely just in silver (nothing too expensive hahaha).
The one above has this "Dad" engraving, and I know the hubby will like this. I know that he's trying hard to be the best father to our darling daughter, so this will definitely suit him.

Hmmm, I really hope he will like this little gift. I love you my hubby. Happy 7th!

I love this picture. I love everything about it. What it conveys, the feeling it evokes. I don't know, for some reason, it reminded me of my quiet-er days in life (tea instead of coffee though).

Reminiscing: Injuries

Now, that nasty little cut (thanks to that nasty pair of scissors) I had last Friday was really something. It was not painful, it was small (but blood poured like crazy), but I had this dizzy, giddy-like feeling the whole time. It made me remember all those times when i had little cuts and bruises during my childhood. It also made me remember the time when I hit my shoulder very hard when I fell off the balance beam (gymnastics training). That "scarred" me in such a way that I could never perfect my freestyle position of my arm when swimming. I know, I should have gone to the doctor, and probably would have recommended that I use a rotator cuff brace.

My shoulder would've healed properly. Oh well, that's water under the bridge now right. Maybe next time, I should be more conscious when an injury happens to me, to the hubby, to the daughter (I hope not please!). Now at least I know that when shoulder injuries happen, it is best to use something to help it heal better, faster.

Bloody Palm

Maybe I was just too passionate with our team building session the other day during our Interpersonal Effectiveness course. We were supposed to come up with this floating device, and I was busy and intent in cutting the paper, it didn't occur to me I was cutting at an ultra-fast pace. Then I overshot my cutting. That nasty little scissors just found its way on my palm.

The instructor immediately attended to my bloody palm because blood was everywhere. And guess what, I was still passionately working on the paper boat i was making hahaha.
Oh well, I should take care always even when doing the littlest things. I mean this is just cutting paper right, not as if i'm working on a steel building!

Anyways, my wound is a bit better now. Though honestly, it wasn't painful nor stinging. But for some reason, I felt weak after I had the wound. Hahaha.

Rain Rain Go Away

The past few weeks have been nothing but rain pouring from the heavens. I just hope that the downpour will not reach or even go beyond Ondoy levels. Remember this?
{Image from Coffeedrunk.com}
I remember that time when I was stuck in traffic for more than 3 hours, with my sick daughter and the Yaya with me (we came from the doctor and went quickly to Powerplant to buy medicines). That was one scary experience.

Then two weeks ago something similar happened. I was stuck in traffic once again, this time with my colleagues. The streets were flooded, and I could only hope that my A/T car will not give in. I was also secretly praying for metal detectors underwater just in case there were any nails that could've punctured my wheels. Ack, that was nerve-wracking. Thank goodness all of us were home safe.

I really really hope that though rains are inevitable in our side of the world, Mother Nature will not be too harsh on us.

On A Night Like This

Yeah!!!! I cannot even describe the happiness and ecstasy I felt while watching Kylie Minogue live in Manila last night! It was sooo sooo soooo worth it!

At first I wanted to take photos and videos, but then I realized... No effin way. I wouldn't want to miss the whole concert just because I'm too preoccupied with finding the right angle and all. So so happy. Actually, the only sad thing is that at the last minute I chickened out in getting the patron tickets (our palce was still very near though, love it!) because I thought I'd save for the Linkin Park concert. Ugh. How I wish I was right smack in front.

The choreography, the theatrics, the costume change (7!!!), everything, the total package was so well thought of, yeah, I was really worth it.
Kylie was so sexy and so beautiful, just the way I imagined her to be. Golden. She must have been using orogold all over her body. Lovely. Her voice, love. Plus, she sang all of my favorite songs!!! Her surprise number was her singing "Especially For You." Yup, she did research about Filipinos hahaha. That song was memorable for me in a sense that it was the song I sang the first time I joined a singing contest. Yep, I won hahaha.
I've followed her through the years and I couldn't help but sing along. Love love love. I love Kylie.

At least now I can tick off one entry in my Wish List.

Thank you Kylie for visiting the Philippines!

Set You Free

We often fool ourselves
And say that it's love only
Cause when it's gone
We end up being lonely
So how are we to know
That it just isn't so
That we just have to let each other go

There were many times
When we shared precious moments
But later realized
They were only stolen moments
So how are we to know
That it just wasn't so
That we just had to let each other go

If loving you is all that means to me
When being happy is all I hope you'd be
Then loving you must mean
I really have to set you free

Each day we meet my love for you
Keeps growing stronger
But everytime we meet
Makes leaving you so much harder
So how are we to know
That this just wasn't so
That we just have to let each other go

If loving you is all that means to me
When being happy is all I hope you'd be
Then loving you must mean
I really have to set you free

Letting go is not an easy task
When smiling feels like I must wear this lonely mask
It hurts deep inside
And I just cannot hide
That there's anguish at the thought
That we should have to part

If loving you is all that means to me
When being happy is all I hope you'd be
Then loving you must mean
I really have to set you free

If loving you is all that means to me
When being happy is all I hope you'd be
Then loving you must mean
I really have to set you free

DPALS Phone Sock

Feeling a bit down earlier today (thanks so much for my hang over plus the fact that hubby dear has nuked me), but this surely lightened up my day. Got myself this phone sock from Dpals.com

It came with a really cute dangler. I was choosing between "Sarah" and "Vanessa" but then I realized both names have exactly the same design. Hehehe.
Cute noh? I know, it's so not for my age (hahaha) but I can't help it, it really gave me this warm fuzzy feeling (up until I saw the cordless barcode scanner used to pay for this plus all the other loot of Eanna. yaiks). Oh well. At least I have this new item right now to cheer me up. Good thing my phone fit (hahaha, yes I didin't try it on before buying!). Took me a while to hook the dangler too (dang, Nokia phone).

The Yaya and the Little Girl didn't want to be outdone, so both grabbed one for themselves. Hahaha.

Dpals Phone socks are available in Fully Booked stores. Cheap, promise: only PhP 149.00.

Fruit of the Earth

Sometimes when a girl has just got too many problems, fruit of the earth is a temporary solution to bliss. After effects of taking too much may be unpleasant, but sometimes, it can be worth it.
