Ceiling Fan vs. Aircon

categories:
I still cannot decide on whether I will install a ceiling fan or an aircon in our living area. The days are getting hotter, and it's still warm even when the BER months kicked in. I'm expecting this Christmas time will be the warmest we've experienced, and since we would love to invite friends and relatives over, we would have to address the "warm" issue in our home.

At first I wanted to get an inverter technology aircon but our condo's house rules forbid us from installing split-type aircons. Inverter technology aircons claim to have a high energy efficiency rate, thus lesser power consumption. This technology is not yet available for window-type aircons (or maybe I should check it out in the mall).

Then there is the option of a ceiling fan. My concern here is the aesthetic aspect. Though Hunter fans appeal to me, I don't know if it would suit well with our kinda-modern ceiling. This is kinda a good option though...

We'll see what the hubby will prefer, though I have a good idea what he'd want.

Eanna's Assessment

It was Eanna's assessment in school today, and for some reason I wasn't really nervous or stressed about it. We didn't review or prepared for it.

When her 2-hour assessment was done, her Yaya (she's always with the little one because she gets too clingy and loses focus when I'm around) was in very high spirits. Why? Because our darling lady did quite well during her assessment! According to the Yaya, "walang kahirap-hirap" and began comparing Eanna to the other students who were scheduled the same time. The only concerns were the Linggo ng Wika questions because Eanna wasn't around that time, as well as when she was asked if chips are good or bad and the naughty girl said "good!" with gusto. Hahahaha.

Anyway, the parent-teacher meeting will be done next week and hopefully it confirms that Eanna did well.

Me and My Tin Whistles

categories: , ,
I have to admit, I have been blogging less because I rediscovered my favorite hobby during my "younger" years: playing the tin whistle!

For those who don't know, this is the definition of a tin whistle according to Wikipedia:

The tin whistle also called the penny whistle [1], English Flageolet, Scottish penny whistle, Tin Flageolet, Irish whistle and Clarke London Flageolet[2] is a simple six-holed woodwind instrument. It is an end blown fipple flute flageolet, putting it in the same category as the recorder, American Indian flute, and other woodwind instruments. A tin whistle player is called a tin whistler or whistler. The tin whistle is closely associated with Celtic music.
I used to collect tin whistles, buying them online using my mom's credit card.

My first tin whistle was this:

Walton's Little Black Whistle
Then got this Clare Brass Whistle

Then I got crazy and bought more:

Walton's Mellow D Whistle
Clarke's Celtic Tin Whistle (loved this!)
Clarke's Black Whistle

Generation Tin Whistle

And the most expensive one by Sindt:

Yes, I was a tin whistle addict. More information on tin whistles here at Chiff and Fipple.

Got these books too:

Unfortunately when I got married and moved to our own home, I was unable to get all of my whistles (too busy checking out wedding stuff like destination wedding dresses hehehehe as well as home decor). Actually, I only had 1 left, the Sindt whistle as I kept it with care and never used it, until now.

I commissioned my parents' helpers to look for all of my other tin whistles and will give them a bonus should they find them. I really hope that they find them. At least the Clarke Celtic Whistle. Please...

But in the meantime, the hubby surprised me with this gift:

Walton's Little Black Whistle Guiness version

Hubby, if you're reading this, if I can't find my tin whistles, can you reconstruct my collection for me? You're in Ireland and the UK anyways. Please?

But for now, I am relying on my Sindt whistle. Been practicing for days and I am slowly and painstakingly beginning to get my groove back.

So, fine. I will not have any Birkins in my bag "collection" but heck... why not go for this...

Don't the colors look yummy! I want the orange of course, and the Lagoon (robin's egg blue)

Maver, all your fault! We do have a good plan though! Hehehehe.

I'm feeling some online shopping vibe so maybe this, aside from apple bottoms which my cousin told me to get one, will be one of my loot. We'll see. Like what Maver said, the customs fees might kill us if ever we buy online, so buying in Tresorie Makati might be an option too. Hmmm. Think think think.

I bought my latest eyeshadow: Maybelline Hyper Diamonds in GN-1.

Yes, I am too fixated with green eyeshadow and this one is just perfect for parties as well as vamping up even when at home. I tried it today with some of my makeup loot and voila...

My eyes are acting up again, one is smaller than the other!
Electric fan blew my hair so it looked funny
More serious shot there

These are what I used for this look:
  • Etude House Bright BB Cream
  • Etude House Eyebrow Kit
  • Nars Orgasm
  • Mac Lipstick in Kinda Sexy
  • Maybelline Hyper Diamonds in GN-1

Similar to my basic makeup but with a sexier eyeshadow palette!
(One eye just looked darker coz of the light source!)

Eanna's First Ballet Class

I enrolled Eanna to ballet class conducted by one of her teachers in Rainbow Room. At first the hubby was a bit skeptical because ballet classes meant Eanna will be in school from Monday to Saturday. However, we gave it a shot because the little girl showed some interest in ballet, with poses and all, hahaha.

Here she was on her first day:

While I was out (checking the net for some body acne treatment for my SIL hehe), her Yaya told me that Eanna was very attentive and enjoyed a lot. When I entered the room though, initially she was cool with it, even waving at me. She probably realized that this wasn't her normal reaction so she went back to her old ways: clinging to me like crazy and distracted! The whole time I did all the poses and steps just for her to follow!

Next class I will not go inside the room, no matter how much I want to watch my little baby girl do ballet. *Sigh* But I'm still happy she has this little extra-curricular activity and I look forward to her dancing for me after her 10 sessions!

Eanna's Trick or Treat

Eanna's preschool organized a Trick or Treating event last night at their school in Tivoli Gardens. The little girl dressed up as Belle of Beauty and the Beast and she looked soooo adorable!

They had a small program before visiting the homes of the students: making Halloween masks and paper bags, short song and dance, and story-telling by the actor Dominic Ochoa.

Here's a shot of the home of Eanna's classmate:
The kids had so much fun receiving goodies and treats from the kids' parents. I told them to go to our home too hahaha but of course that wasn't possible (only 3 students don't live in Tivoli Gardens, including Eanna).

The little girl was very tired but she surely enjoyed her first Trick or Treating!

Macbook Air and Mac Facetime

Just saw the new Macbook Air in the Apple website. Yes, I am drooling like crazy.

Slim is very very in. And paired with the iPhone 4. Oh man...

What's added (and this is for all Macbooks I guess!) is the Facetime application where video calls are allowed from Macbook to Macbook, iPhone 4, and iPod Touch. And vice versa. I'm still downloading the application and hopefully this tool will be well-used in the feature. Which means... an iPhone/iPod/Macbook for the hubby? Hahahaha. If all goes well, maybe I'll just surprise the hubby with the Macbook Air!

All I Wanna Do...

Is trade this life for something new... Holding on to what I haven't goooooooot!

Love the lyrics of "Waiting for the End" by Linkin Park. Yep, Another LP Love post.

WAITING FOR THE END

This is not the end
This is not the beginning,
Just a voice like a riot
Rocking every revision
But you listen to the tone
And the violent rhythm
Though the words sound steady
Something empty's within 'em

We say Yeah!
With fists flying up in the air
Like we're holding onto something
Thats invisible there,
Cuz we're living at the mercy of
The pain and the fear
Until we dead it, Forget it,
Let it all dissapear.

Waiting for the end to come
Wishing I had strength to stand
This is not what I had planned
It's out of my control....

Flying at the speed of light
Thoughts we're spinning in my head
So many things were left unsaid
It's hard to let you go...

(Oh!) I know what it takes to move on,
I know how it feels to lie,
All I wanna do
Is trade this life for something new
Holding on to what I haven't got

Sitting in an empty room
Trying to forget the past
This was never meant to last,
I wish it wasn't so...

(Oh!) I know what it takes to move on,
I know how it feels to lie,
All I wanna do
Is trade this life for something new
Holding on to what I haven't got

What was left when that fire was gone?
I thought it felt right but that right was wrong
All caught up in the eye of the storm
And trying to figure out what it's like moving on
And i don't even know what kind of things I've said
My mouth kept moving and my mind went dead
So, picking up the pieces, now where to begin?
The hardest part of ending Is starting again!!

All I wanna do
Is trade this life for something new
Holding on to what I haven't got...

This is not the end
This is not the beginning,
Just a voice like a riot
Rocking every revision
But you listen to the tone
And the violet rhythm
Though the words sound steady
Something empty's within 'em
(Holding on to what i haven't got)

We say Yeah!
With fists flying up in the air
Like we're holding onto something
Thats invisible there,
Coz we're living at the mercy of
The pain and th fear
Until we dead it, Forget it,
Let it all dissapear
(Holding on to what I haven't got!)

Past Life

I have been thinking about past lives lately. For some reason I am beginning to believe that maybe our souls are older than our bodies are, and that we have lived even before. I know this goes way beyond Catholic teachings (please don't excommunicate me!), but I don't know. Is it possible we are indeed infinite beings in a finite body?

This goes to relationships with people. If this is true, past life I mean, then souls must have been connecting with each other. And if so, does one have a memory of these connections, like they feel that somehow they have interacted with one another, even when in the present there is no way that you had, has, and will interact or even meet.

I'm just babbling here I know. But like I said, I have been thinking about this lately.

Etude House

I have always known that Etude House has a shop here in the Philippines (SM Megamall), but never really went inside to check out the products. At last, i was given an opportunity to do so when I was unable to get myself Dr. Jart+ BB Cream (yes, I am somekinda into Blemish Base creams right now). Etude House's BB cream was my alternative bet.

So off we trotted to the Etude House shop. There were 3 kinds of BB creams there: two Magic BB Creams for oily and for dry skin, and the Bright BB Cream. I asked what was better for me, and naturalmente the saleslady told me to get the more expensive one, the Bright BB cream. I told her that I wanted to test it, not only on the side of my face but on my whole face. She happily obliged and after putting just a small amount of BB cream, I looked in the mirror. WOAH.

Unbelievable. My face still looked natural, but brighter. AS if an enhancer was put on. There was no trace of "foundation-y" kind of look. Just my skin, enhanced. I was sold then and there.

I was feeling make-up-y that time so I put on this eyebrow kit, plus a small dash of blush, and lipstick. I love the lipstick I got too, so even if I know I have a lot of tubes already, I still got it. In the end, I got myself these:

Bright BB Cream
Eyebrow Kit
LUCIDarling Lip Rouge
(I got the No. 10 I think it's the last one though it looks dark here)
It still looks dark above, oh well. But that's the one!
Cleansing Tissue

A lot of loot considering I was only after the BB cream initially! I don't mind though because I love the stuff I got! I will definitely come back to purchase more loot such as their cleansing oil as well as this product which they claim as the best wrinkle lotion!

Anyways, on to the BB cream... I've been using the Bright BB cream 4 days already and so far I am happy with its consistent results. My face didn't "cake" even when it was hot or cold, inside or outside. I didn't turn gray (the term I think is oxidize). The whole day my face looked radiant and again, enhanced. Very natural-lloking. At first I thought of getting Dr. Jart+ or the BRTC Gold Caviar (online!) to have a comparison but nah, never mind. I am happy with my Etude BB cream. Well unless my dear sister gives me one of the two I mentioned, hehehe.

Pics, you may ask. Well, I don't have a decent camera to take pictures of myself. The only one I have is the real made-up me, which I took right before I left for the Muji Launch:
Etude House BB Cream and Eyebrow kit, Revlon merlot-colored lipstick, Nars Orgasm, The Face Shop black eyeliner

EDIT: I got a picture! Just saw it now hehehe. Taken last Sunday.

Muji Launch

I attended the launch of the much-awaited Muji store in the Fort, and I was really so glad that I got invited to go. We were a bit late because of the traffic but wow, it was worth going.

I loved the stuff there. However, I didn't get to take pictures because honestly I don't have a camera to take pictures that will do justice to the stuff there. The prices are not that bad too! I've eyed a couple of things to buy on my next trip there: the chef's knife, shirts for my bros for Christmas, a blanket, the cleansing oil, and some office/organizing stuff.  I wanted to buy last night but the line at the cashier was just too long!

Anyways, what did I finally wear last night? Well, I chose the pants and the faux-furry jacket. I loved the ensemble hehehe.

Sorry, that's my only shot and unfortunately my phone didn't focus too well!

And my bff loved it too, plus my makeup: Etude BB cream and merlot lipstick for the win! That BB cream is a different post but I tell you, so far I am loving it. It may not be an acne solution treatment but it surely does brighten your skin!

Ok ok back to Muji...

Guys, check out Muji at the Fort. You won't regret going there! Actually, you will, because you'll probably spend some (or a lot) of moolah for a lot of things. Hahaha!

Eanna's Krispy Kreme Field Trip

Yes I know this is a week late, but like I always say, better late than never!

Eanna had her first taste of field trip last Thursday when their whole class went to the Fort and tour Krispy Kreme. This is in connection to their theme for this month: "Communities." Their trip was about the mall, park, restaurant, and bakery.

This was the group before we left:
With teacher Sam inside the "school bus."
Eanna knows where Krispy Kreme is Hahaha!
Hands on the back and fall in line from smallest (and youngest) to tallest!

We went inside and the kids made their own krispy kreme donuts: glazed dipped in chocolate and sprinkles!
The kids were given coloring materials too as their activity. I felt like a kid all over again hahaha. And the donuts, man, we were given about 3 pieces each, whatever we liked! Imagine the damage that causes to one's belly fats hahaha! I should click here to keep my fats from ballooning hehehe.

Another group pic before leaving Krispy Kreme

Time to go!

Well, we didn't really leave immediately after as the kids played in the park.

Overall, it was a fun experience for the kids and for adults too. What a wonderful way to teach kids about the community. Experiential!
