Cheaper Alternative

categories: ,
Last weekend, I chanced upon the YSL Muse Bag in Maroon, and I immediately fell in love. Bordering on obsession, actually.

Then I went to Greenbelt 5, and got to see some Balenciaga bags again. No giant city bags, but the thought of coveting a city bag streamed through my thoughts. I really want one. Wish list!

While strolling though, a Marc by Marc Jacobs bag caught my eye.

It is a cheaper alternative to YSL or Balenciaga. Which color should I get though?

Eanna Going to Preschool?

categories: ,
I am amazed at how young babies (yep, I still call them babies) are enrolled to Preschools as early as 15 months old. Is this the trend nowadays, and is this good for the child? I've been researching lately on early education for kids and what I have read so far are the disadvantages of early schooling. Well, probably because of my sentiment on this topic too. I myself do not believe in too early schooling, probably because I am not 100% sold on what others believe, that the early a baby starts, the earlier and the more advanced he/she will be.

I mean, I started going to school at 5 years old, that's Prep. Then at 6 I went to Grade 1. Now, there's Nursery, there's Jr. Nursery, Sr. Nursery, Kinder 1 2 3, Prep, before reaching Grade School.

I will still continue researching on this mater, and actually I am opening up tot he idea of homeschooling during Eanna's pre-school years. If however husband and I decide to enroll her next year (ugh, 2.5 years old? She's still a baby!!!!), here are my top choices (based on what i read online):

1. Explorations Pre-school
Simply put, there are three main considerations when planning our curriculum. First, we take into consideration the child's developmental level. Second, for optimal learning to take place, children actively interact with people and materials in their environment and reflect upon these interactions. And third, there is an interaction between thinking and feeling: we pay equal attention to teaching skills and knowledge and attitudes and values.

2. Creative Learning School - where my brothers went and my nephew is currently "studying"

At this stage of your child's development, learning is done through a happy combination of song, dance and play. The child goes through sensorial and experiential activities as well as readiness lessons for Reading, Language, Science and Mathematics. Manipulative excercies for finger dexterity, body movement and oral language are all done in a playful manner. The emphasis in this level is on social adjustment.

3. Lincolnshire Internationale Preschool
LIP opens its door for children to a world of

VALUES EDUCATION
INDEPENDENCE
CREATIVE GROWTH AND LEARNING
CRITICAL THINKING PROCESSES
SOCIAL AWARENESS
4. Riverport Pre-school - This is the pre-school run by hubby's relatives, and it is conveniently located in their compound - where my in laws stay (aka hubby's former home). I heard that it is a good school, and more importantly, tuition fee is free. I hope! Hahahaha.

5. Poveda Learning Center/St. Poveda College - for Kinder onwards. Of course, I studied here and would want Eanna to study here as well.

Gash... Sooner or later I have to face the fact that Eanna is really growing up. Ack, I want her to forever be a baby! Hahaha. Well, she will always be my baby.

Check out BestHomeschooling.org for interesting articles on early "education" and homeschooling.

Only One Awake

categories:
I'm the only one awake at this house now. For some reason, I am enjoying this little peace and calm here in my very own home. No loud TV, no sound in the kitchen, no Eanna blabbering and going around, no helpers talking. Just the sound of me typing, plus the sound of the outside world (my balcony door is open).

I just came home from dinner (and a round of drinks) with my friend C, and I feel so weirdly happy now. I don't know, maybe it's because of the good company I had, the dress I wore tonight (thanks, BC Manila for an awesome dress), an well, most probably because of the thought of my husband.

*Sigh*

Yeah, that's probably it. You know, the feeling that no matter how far away he is from our family, no matter how it feels that I am alone tonight, somehow I find comfort in the fact that I know, believe, and feel that my husband is thinking, nay, dreaming of me tonight, and that my longing for him pales in comparison with his longing to be with me.

Gash, I am yet another woman in love. Friend J commented that, especially when I recently changed my FB profile pic to that of me and hubby's wedding pic. Hahaha.

Now I can't wait for 8 more weeks. He'll be home by that time. And I know we're gonna have so much fun together. I look forward to celebrating three years of being husband and wife. And next year, I look forward to our very first celebration of our bf-gf anniversary. Many find it weird why we are so attached with our bf-gf anniversary, probably even more than our wedding anniversary. But it's ok. I know only the two of us can understand why.

I love you my husband. I really really do. And I miss you too.

... and when the night wind starts to sing a lonesome lullaby, it helps to think we're sleeping underneath the same big sky....

What's For Eanna?

Eanna's second birthday is coming up, and though there will be major party (at this time) during her special day, I plan to indulge her with a lot of stuff. Clothes, shoes, and probably some toys too. Oh, yeah, new books for her too. I don't know if I will give her new videos, but if ever, maybe new videos of Strawberry shortcake again, plus maybe Dora? I have yet to ask Mommy friends too. hehehe. I was suppsoed to treat her to a movie... UP, but she got sick, and i wasn't sure if she'd behave too inside the moviehouse. We'll see. or maybe I'll just wait for hubby so that he'll be with us for Eanna's first movie exprience.

*Sigh* My little baby is growing up already. She knows what she wants, and what she wants and does is what I want and do! Hahahaha.

Of course, other than material things, I will shower her with all the lvoe I can give her. Gotta fill in for E too, you know. *Sigh*

I am not a regular coffee drinker, but there are moments when I crave for coffee. Like now. I want some coffee!
Of course, I have to steer clear of anything that gives high carbs and all, and honestly I am getting used to it. But what do I do with cravings??? Last night, I craved for chocolates. Chocolate ice cream. I thought about chips but i was sooo happy I snapped out of it.

But now... coffee... Gash, I really want some. I am soooo torn. Ack.

And wouldn't be nice if you own one of these Nespresso babies?

Eanna Sick Yet Again

It's not that bad though, just a slight fever (highest 38C) for two days already. Yesterday it was quite obvious that she didn't feel well because she slept in the afternoon twice. Normally she only naps once a day.

However, even if she has fever, she still plays, still dances whenever she like the music she hears, and she still bosses around the mother. Hahahaha.

I still don't know what caused Eanna's fever but I'm glad she's still as cheerful as any ordinary day. Hope she gets well soon.

Useless For Now

I was so excited when I finally bought a Linksys wireless router. But my excitement turned into extreme disappointment when I failed to install / configure my laptop. Now I've been whipped by the very very very tight security settings our company has set up in our laptops.

Argh.

So I just told my Dad that they can use it for the time being, until we get hubby's laptop (that would be November! *sob sob*).

In the meantime, my plan of surfing while in my room will have to be deferred. Poor dining table.

Who Should Own It?

After the phone incident where hubby was so angry at me that he demanded that I buy a new phone that is accessible 24/7, my dreams of getting a Samsung phone was slowly materializing. The clincher however was when hubby told me that his Ericsson phone finally died. Yes, I can buy a new phone! Of course, it was meant for dear lover of mine, and it will serve as my birthday gift to him.

Still disappointed with the new iPhone 3GS (does not have a camera in front, ergo video call not good), off we went to Samsung. The Haptic pop phone, which I was hoping to be sold here in the Philippines is still not here (and probably will never set foot here), so I eyed on what for me was the second best, the Samsung Jet.

Love love love it. At first I struggled a bit (all of 2 minutes) but I got the hang of it and used it with ease. Here's a REVIEW.

Now I'm thinking whether I should give this to dear hubby. Little devil, noh? Dad also told me he'd be surprised if I give it to him (I will give it to E's office for them to send onboard). He said I'll probably make all the excuses for E to trade phones with me. Well....

I told hubby that I finally bought his phone (told him about the Jet earlier), and well well well... He said that it doesn't matter as long as we get to video call. Implying that I can have the new one and I give him my N82!!!!!

Bad wife. But I really feel guilty. We'll see. Hehehehe.

Tipid, Tipid

Hubby and I had a video call session. It went like this...

Hubby: So, what are your plans for Eanna's birthday?

Me: Well, just a simple party here at home. Second birthday naman eh.

Hubby: Ok. So, since I'm going home around October, joint party namin ni Eanna will be delayed again to November?

Me: Hmm... joint party... bakit di na lang tayo magtipid kasi we are going to Boracay anyway. We can splurge on our vacation.

Hubby: Wow... alam mo pala ang salitang "tipid"

GRRRRRR.

It's the third day of our 15-day trial of Sky Broadband. So far it's performing well, quite fast. I hope that if ever we get this, the speed will still be the same and downtime, if any will be a minimum.

My only concern is that I might spend the whole time here at home surfing the net or playing FB games. I'm such a comp addict, hahaha. Advantage though is I won't spend much time in the mall (with temptations and all).

Hmm... should I proceed or not? We'll see.

I really really love it when Sandra Bullock stars in romantic comedy films, that's why I was sooo delighted that The Proposal was showing. I got to watch it with my friend C and brother P, and thank goodness I watched this (supposedly we planned for GI Joe).

This movie is such a major laugh trip I had to scold myself every now and then to stop laughing like crazy. Loved every scene.

A plus factor though are threee articles: Her Louboutin heels, her tan Prada bag, and my super favorite Orange Hermes Bag. Hehehe. Love the orange Hermes.

Hubby in October

categories:
Ok, now this idea of hubby coming home in October is beginning to sink in and I am slowly accepting that fact. No sue crying and whining and moping right? However, I have to do some changes in our plans too. Major change is hubby and bebe's joint birthday party. We initially planned it to be held first week of September, so i guess we have to move that to November again. I don't know if I will have a separate party on Eanna's birthday itself, we'll see. Hope it's not too late if ever. If not, then a simple party at home will do. Then other household matters: cleaning of air conditioner filters, change oil of the car, among others. Renewal of my passport and application for Eanna's passport... hmm... maybe I'd wait for him.

Another major change? Hubby might be able to attend friend S's Boracay wedding in January. Cross fingers!

Anyways, happy weekend to all!

Going Low Carb

Yup, I am trying out the low-carb diet as part of my quest to lose some weight. I have started this week and i am quite happy with myself. Had a few slips here and there but now that I'm feeling this new "regime" I'm quite confident I will be able to maintain this for at least 2 more weeks.

Friend C and I have been discussing weight loss and ideal weights (while having buffet dinner in Brazil Brazil, hahahah!) and one topic was about eating depending on your blood type. I got curious and checked it out in the Net. I have yet to check on my blood type though (I think it's a B). Also, she told me the ideal size of the arm is 9 inches. Mine's 10.5 inches. Hahaha. If that's true then I should rid of that 1.5. Didn't discuss about weight loss pills, but we discussed a bit about Mikaela and losing that 1.5 if diet will not work. Harharhar. Thinking about exercise but I don't know. Maybe I will, maybe I won't. Whatever. Hahahaha.

Anyway, good luck to me. I checked out recipes from Atkins.com and the recipes look really good. Will try them next week.!

Double Black-Eye

categories: , ,
That's what hubby said last night. He had double black eye obviously becuase of two things:

NOT GOING HOME TILL OCTOBER
========================

Yup, barely two weeks before his scheduled sign off from his vessel, he was advsied if he can extend his stay until last week of October. He accepted without much hesitation but of course, he was not ok with it. His bags were all packed and all. I guess when I joked him that since there's no advise yet of his reliever, maybe he's not yet coming home. I guess I'm in this business well enough to know that is a possibility. I tried to make jokes out of it but when reality sets in and it's confirmed, it's just so hard to accept. *Sigh* Oh well, that's life. The good side is he'll be spending Christmas here. He has asked for some requests too so I hope their office will accept.

CANNOT CONTACT ME
================
Because of this news, he tried to call me. There was no answer. He tried calling our landline, no answer too. He tried to call for 2 hours but no one's answering. He called my mother-in-law, asked her to help him contact me. he called my Mom and my sister too. Even hsi Captain was alarmed that we cannot be contacted. Everyone got so paranoid. Sister went to my place to check us out. She was thinking of the worst already and was crying on ehr way to our place. When she was finally there in our lobby, she didn't want to go up, so she asked the guard to call us up first. Of course we answered. She was soooo mad. When she came to our palce, she threw a lot of things at me and was very teary-eyed.

Reason for us not being contacted? Eanna played with all our phones. My mobile phone was "dead" and our landline phone was in disarray. Helper's phone was being charged too so I guess it was off as well.

When I finally got to talk to Enrik, he was sooooo high-blood and he was angry. REALLY ANGRY. Refused to talk to me for a long time and kept on saying I should always be accessible and all. It was funny, but not funny for them I guess.

*Sigh*

I'm trying to sound light and all, but beneath, really I'm so sad and disappointed. I will never get used to this kind of arrangement. *Sigh*

There's a ghost in our house! A ghost chair, that is!

Finally, after months of thinking whether to get one or not, I decided to take the plunge and get myself the Louis Ghost Chair. I got one first to "test" it but if I really really love it, then I'd buy a couple more pieces and be our dining chairs. Hope hubby gives me the stamp of approval... or else! hahahaha.

Anyway, Eanna loved the chair that she refused to let me sit on it. She wanted it to be her chair.

I only got to sit on it when she was asleep already. She was pushing me out of it while she was awake!

Still No News

Weeks have passed and there are still no news on our planned business proposal - do we get the bid or not? I am getting a bit anxious already after the initial excitement and sleepless nights. Yes, I was that excited. Too excited that my mind kept on thinking, working, planning, imagining, and dreaming on our possible business. The layout of the place, needed items (do we need a cash register? or should we be more modern and opt for barcode scanners?), what products to sell, etc.

I received a phone call from my agent and I thought that there would be news already, but no. Still, no confirmation. Ack. It's killing me. I want to know if we get the slot, or if I should just check out bags and get myself one (out of depression). Hahahaha.

A yellow game for the Ateneo - La Salle game. It was a mix of blues, greens, and mostly yellows... as a sign that the game is for the late pres. Cory Aquino.

Thank goodness we won. Lots of heart-stopping moments, disappointing turnovers, bad moves, and the like. At first Ateneo seemed sooo "kalat" but I guess the turning point was the kick by Webb (La Salle). Ateneo picked up and eventually won... after 5 additional minutes. Good game though, La Salle.

Anywayz, here's my bebe cheering on during the game.

Gothika The Movie

I got to watch Gothika again on AXN, and boy oh boy, Robert Downey Jr. never fails to amaze me and sweep me off my feet. Hahahaha. I have always been his fan no matter what has happened to him (drug rehab and all). He's a great actor, aside from his killer looks. There really is something about him (drug abuse aside).

Anyway, on to the movie. I liked this movie but I can't shake off the fear that gripped me everytime I watch this film. You get to think about the people you thought you knew but then they have these dark secrets you'd be really shocked once knowing. In the end, "justice" was served, in a gruesome and ghostly kind of way.

Gothika however will be capt my quota for suspense thrillers for the year. I prefer to watch light movies or action films now.

Zara Therapy

Cryfest was just too much yesterday (again Ma'am Cory, may you rest in peace), so I decided to do some Zara therapy yesterday.

I was a bit set on buying stuff for myself (rocker chic stuff), but I couldn't resist buying some things for Eanna too. Rocker chic din! Hahahaaha.

She was initially wearing her trusted jeans and new I heart Zara shirt, and her purple plaid high-cut sneaks.

Then I let her wear this leather jacket (GASH, I think I am going back to buy it) and the sequinned Barbie pink ballet flats (no size smaller, *sigh*).

Then I tried on a different outfit... grey skinny jeans and this long sleeved shirt that has a bone applique (quite, not scary!). And oh, the ruby red ballet flats. LOVED THESE.

But I ended up getting her these instead. Not the skinny grey jeans but this leggings that had this grey skinny jeans feel to it. I told her that these would be my 2nd birthday gift to her, but of course I was joking (I want to give her a heart pendant necklace for her special day).

She left the store wearing her new loot. Hahahaha.

Crooked teeth again

No matter how hard I try, I just keep on forgetting to use my retainers to make sure that my teeth stay in place. You see, shortly before our wedding, I had braces on after one of the makeup artists I went to told me red lips are not good for me because of my crooked teeth (Ack!). So even if it was out of our budget (thanks Tito for giving me dental discounts during the whole time), I just had to have braces to fix it somehow. And yeah, my teeth got fixed all right. But being the lazy me, I am unable to maintain my teeth.

A few weeks ago, because of one front tooth overlapping the other, a part of my tooth chipped. I had to go back to the dentist to have it fixed. And he reminded me to wear my retainers. I did a couple of days but now, not again. Ack.

Promise, I will try again.

Anyway, I am back to work and I feel much better now. Must be the wine Cat and I downed last night when she dropped by for a dinner of pizza and wine.
