Heart-ing Skype

I am so loving Skype right now. YM would've been ok since I've been using that for the longest time. But then, the video calls simply couldn't get through. And Skype does.

Goodbye super sky high phone bills!

Small Bump Ahead

Didn't realize the Holy Week schedule will cause some complications in our budget. It's just a small bump and I know things will fall into place. But still, I feel a little anxious. Don't want to say stressed.

Breathe.

My First iMovies

Finally ventured into making "movies" using iMovies, and though it took me quite a while, it wasn't as difficult as I thought. My only "bummer" moment was realizing that you have to import pictures to the iPhotos library and events/videos in iMovies (thus having double copies, with videos converted to .mov - more space!). I will still check out if I could delete them after making the projects, but in the meantime, I will export them to the hard disk (so it can be "shared") then burn them in dvd's. Tedious task, noh? But we'll see, maybe I am missing out on things. What's good though is that projects can be directly uploaded to Youtube.

Anyway, here are the two projects I made...

Eanna at Julia Gabriel

Eanna's "Graduation" at Julia Gabriel

It was the end of Term 3 of the Julia Gabriel Play Club last Friday, and though it was a happy event, I felt a  small gush of sadness because the teachers, staff, kids, and their parents already became endeared to us. Goodbyes aren't exactly good scenes, right? Hahaha.

But anyways, here are some pictures taken during that day. The last day's theme was "summer fun" where kids are clad in their swimsuit attire for some water fun.

Unlike the Christmas party last December, it was just a simple get together of the two classes (last December all of the students gathered for the event, and there were no formal invitations nor goodies/freebies). It was still pot luck, and as was the last party, there were lots of food. Heheheheh.

Anyways, it was a very good experience not only for Eanna both also for me as well. Since I attended all the classes, I was able to learn a few tricks on how to teach my little girl using play. Aside from this, I got to learn (again) children's songs so that I could sing these with Eanna even after class. All her art works are posted in her room's walls, as reminder for us how far she'd gone, thanks to Julia Gabriel.

Of course, I only wished the husband was here, but hey, no use pining over it right.

So before I go into EMO mode again, cheers for now!

Sea & Learn Development Center: Progressive Schooling

I came across Sea and Learn Development Center, a newly opened progressive school just behind the Fun Ranch at Tiendesitas, from Fedhz's blog and just would like to share this with you mommies!

The center believes that education should be a right and not a privilege, and so because of this philosophy, their tuition rates are lower than the other progressive schools (those that I went too, at least) - around PhP 50k for Kinder 1. It is a small place but offers programs for Toddlers, Nursery, and Kinder.

I haven't had the time yet to visit the place, but for those who are looking for progressive schools but have a tight budget, please do check it out and share your notes (e.g. educational background of the Faculty and Admin, do they offer an authentic progressive program, etc etc.)!

PS: They do have summer programs that start on April 12. Php 6,500 for those who will not attend 2010-2011 school year, Php 6,000 for those who will. At least this will give a sneak peek on the schools curriculum!

Happiness In Hard Times

I found this post by Denesa really nice, and so I would just like to share it with you the Essence of Happiness of Andrew Matthews...

  1. Gratitude. Miserable people concentrate on what they don’t have. Resolve to wake up everyday and look at what you have.
  2. Do Not Blame Others. Take responsibility. Happy people do their best, giving themselves the best chances to feel good about themselves.
  3. Happiness is a decision we make. It doesn’t happen by accident.
  4. Accept what you have and where you are at and move on.
  5. Get up tomorrow and focus on what you have. Keep on looking for the good things in your life and you will keep finding more. We are an energy system. The more we focus on our abundance, the more we will get.
