One of my darling girl's favorite things to do is to build things using her Lego blocks. I'm really pleased she has taken to liking doing this because I am one of those people who believe in the power of Lego to enhance children's minds, skills, and creativity.
Anyway, last night was truly an amusing night for the starstruck mom (with my daughter as the star). The little girl was playing in her room as always (she knows it's her territory), then she came up to me, showed me what she built with her blocks and said, "Mama look, house!" I loved it! Then she want back inside her room. After a few seconds she had a new creation and said "Mama look oh" to which I asked, "wow honey what is that?" She replied, "Mama, it's airplane!" I was really amused and praised her.
Then the funniest and most amusing for me happened...
She went back inside her room, then came up to me, holding a tower of stacked blocks. She said "Mama look oh, wan!" I looked at it, couldn't figure out the tower and what she said, so I asked, "Marie, what is that again?" She replied, "Wan!" I asked again, "Honey what's wan?"
Her reply?
"Mama, wan! Wan, two three! Wan, wan, wan! Two three! Wan!"
Aaah!
ONE! As in the number ONE!
I laughed so hard! How stupid could I be for not getting it! A stack of blocks did look like the number One!
Love love love my daughter! Wouldn't you be proud too?
