New Hobby?

categories: ,
As soon as my hubby leaves (huhuhu) again and is away for 3 months, I do, sincerely, honestly, and truly will hit the gym and exercise. That, plus join my mother walking every Saturday morning.

I know,  I know. Even my hubby was smiling as I told him my plans. Thanks for the vote of confidence, huh? Hehe. But seriously, I am really serious in finally losing weight. I hit the 120+ pound limit already, so that's my cue to start shaping up.

But aside from this, i also want to take on a new hobby. Something music-related, perhaps? For the longest time I've shied myself into doing anything guitar-related. My hands were to small and my fingers I guess were not long enough. But hey, maybe it is about time to explore this part. I can just imagine that when I finally get to learn playing, I'd ask my brothers to play the drums and the bass guitar, while I play the guitar and sing. My sister will be back up. Hahaha. Kidding. Then we'd have a headset microphone each so that we can blend our voices beautifully. Naks.

If all fails though, I'd just play the piano again and do more practices on my tin whistle. We'll see. Till then, I must prep myself for some serious bootie jiggling.

Rock n Roll for Kids

There's this "shop" in Powerplant mall that provides music lessons to kids, and I'm wondering if I should enroll my little girl. She has always been very inclined to music (and musical instruments), from piano to violin, to anything that fancies her. She sometimes even makes production numbers complete with ticket stubs and lighting, hahaha!

It's nice that she has interest in music, something I would proudly say, came from me (and my family). Hahaha. Husband just likes listening, but I don't think he knows how to play any instrument. Hehehe. My brothers were very much into music too, taking up guitars (both acoustic and electric), piano, and drums (boy, did my brother hit those fantastic Sabian cymbals!).

Hubby would say, probably not now, since we do not have enough space to store musical instruments, but later, if my dear daughter really would love too, I will not hold her back. Not even if what she will fancy are drums!

LPU 2012

Much as I wanted to subscribe to LPU this year, I opted not to do so (for now at least) because I know I might get disappointed again. Not because of the membership per se, but last year, I was really this close to meeting Linkin Park. Yes, not just watching them, meeting them. You see, I was one of those selected to meet them for their concert in Singapore, which I was unable to go because of a conflict of training schedule planned for me by my company. Ugh.

Now, I fear that if I do so again I'd get disappointed that I won't be able to go to their concert nor meet them at all. Actually, I really want to go to their summits where fans around the world get to mingle, meet the band, ask questions, and even play LP's instruments. I've always dreamed of playing the piano of MS, or even tinker with their apc40 for some Linkin-Park-ified sounds. I've always wanted to try to play Rob's drums too, or even touch the guitars used.

*Sigh*

When oh when will I ever see my favorite band? Only time will tell, but here's hoping.

Family Band

Whenever I listen to "family" bands such as the Corrs, I get envious and wish that my brothers, sister and I have formed our own band. Earlier on, we had our own expertise: my brothers were in to guitars and drums, I'm into singing and piano, and my sister, well, she can manage us. Hahaha. We used to sing and play instruments after family dinners, and boy those were really fun. We used to check out different instruments, what the best brands are (such as hartke musicians friend) in terms of showcasing our sounds. That was crazy. How I longed for those days to be back. But it's ok, I understand that we have grown up and decided to take on different paths. However, once in a while of course, I keep wishing I'd here my brother play drums again, my youngest brother play the guitar (acoustic or electric), and I play the tin whistle.

Maroon 5's Overexposed

Lately I've been listening to Maroon 5's latest album, "Overexposed" and I must say that I truly enjoyed this album.
Very upbeat and danceable enough that even my darling daughter loves listening to the album. Our current favorite is Payphone (not a surprise), the remix version, that is. Eanna keeps on hitting the replay button, I just set it to single loop. The style is very much different from the other Maroon 5 songs I was used to (gotta love "And She Will Be loved"), and maybe it seems like the rhythm's more mainstream (was there an effort to reduce hum), but nonetheless I enjoyed it. Too bad though that the song "Stereo Hearts" wasn't included, else it would have been all the more enjoyable.

Overall I would recommend this album for those who want to witness Maroon 5's new direction in their music. If all else fails though, just hit the replay button for the remix "Payphone" hehehehe.

Enjoy!

The Space Between

One of my all-time favorite songs. More than the tune, the lyrics is just... yeah. It is about my life right now.

THE SPACE BETWEEN
by: The Dave Matthews Band

You cannot quit me so quickly
Is no hope in you for me
No corner you could squeeze me
But I got all the time for you, love

The space between the tears we cry
Is the laughter keeps us coming back for more
The space between the wicked lies we tell
And hope to keep safe from the pain

But will I hold you again?

These fickle, fuddled words confuse me
Like, will it rain today?
Waste the hours with talking, talking
These twisted games we're playing

We're strange allies with warring hearts
What a wild-eyed beast you'll be
The space between the wicked lies we tell
And hope to keep safe from the pain

But will I hold you again?
Will I hold?

Look at us spinning out in the madness of a roller coaster
You know you went off like the Devil in a church
In the middle of a crowded room
All we can do, my love is hope we don't take this ship down

But the space between where you're smilin' high
Is where you'll find me if I get to go
The space between the bullets in our firefight
Is where I'll be hiding, waiting for you

The rain that falls splash in your heart
Ran like sadness down the window into your room
The space between our wicked lies
Is where we hope to keep safe from pain

Take my hand 'cause we're walking out of here
Oh, right out of here, love is all we need, dear

The space between what's wrong and right
Is where you'll find me hiding, waiting for you
The space between your heart and mine
Is the space we'll fill with time

The space between
The space between

VMAs: Linkin Park Lost to Katy Perry

Awww man. I was really rooting for my favorite band to win the Best Visual Effects for their video "Waiting for the End." Katy Perry won instead for her video ET. yes, I know her video looked nice and all, but I think LP should've won still. A lot of tweets were hurled against the winners of the VMA's. Some probably didn't deserve winning, but hey, such is life. I guess the VMAs have a different target or agenda altogether.

Oh well. In other celebrity news, it was also announced that Beyonce is pregnant with her first child with Jay-Z. She was even rubbing her belly for the world to see. Hahaha.

On A Night Like This

Yeah!!!! I cannot even describe the happiness and ecstasy I felt while watching Kylie Minogue live in Manila last night! It was sooo sooo soooo worth it!

At first I wanted to take photos and videos, but then I realized... No effin way. I wouldn't want to miss the whole concert just because I'm too preoccupied with finding the right angle and all. So so happy. Actually, the only sad thing is that at the last minute I chickened out in getting the patron tickets (our palce was still very near though, love it!) because I thought I'd save for the Linkin Park concert. Ugh. How I wish I was right smack in front.

The choreography, the theatrics, the costume change (7!!!), everything, the total package was so well thought of, yeah, I was really worth it.
Kylie was so sexy and so beautiful, just the way I imagined her to be. Golden. She must have been using orogold all over her body. Lovely. Her voice, love. Plus, she sang all of my favorite songs!!! Her surprise number was her singing "Especially For You." Yup, she did research about Filipinos hahaha. That song was memorable for me in a sense that it was the song I sang the first time I joined a singing contest. Yep, I won hahaha.
I've followed her through the years and I couldn't help but sing along. Love love love. I love Kylie.

At least now I can tick off one entry in my Wish List.

Thank you Kylie for visiting the Philippines!

My California King

This song is for you who have this one love, but you know he will never love you the way you love him. Who will never adore you the way you adore him. Who will never desire you the way you desire him. No matter how close you are, even just inches away from each other, the distance is still too great. You know it can only happen to dreams or parallel universe, if that exists. Yet, only in yours. Your dreams. Your parallel universe.

And yet you still love.

Rihanna's "California King Bed"

Chest to chest
Nose to nose
Palm to palm
We were always just that close
Wrist to wrist
Toe to toe
Lips that felt just like the inside of a rose
So how come when I reach out my finger
It feels like more than distance between us

In this California king bed
We're 10,000 miles apart
I've been California wishing on these stars
For your heart for me
My California king

Eye to eye
Cheek to cheek
Side by side
You were sleeping next to me
Arm in arm
Dusk to dawn
With the curtains drawn
And a little last night on these sheets
So how come when I reach out my fingers
It seems like more than distance between us

In this California king bed
Were 10,000 miles apart
I've been California wishing on these stars
For your heart for me
My California king

Just when I felt like giving up on us
You turned around and gave me one last touch
That made everything feel better
And even then my eyes got wetter
So confused wanna ask you if you love me
But I don't wanna seem so weak
Maybe I've been California dreaming

In this california king bed
Were 10,000 miles apart
I've been california wishing on these stars
For your heart for me
My california king
My California King

In this california king bed
Were 10,000 miles apart
I've been california wishing on these stars
For your heart for me
My California king

Linkin Park's New Iridescent Video Premiere

Check this out!!! Linkin Park's latest video of their song "Iridescent," which is the theme song of the latest Transformers movie "Dark of the Moon."

I know there's a lot of symbolisms in the video, which may spark some theories again. I'm also confused. Are they for or against? You know what I mean (or not, hahahah). Oh well. One can never really know what's in the minds and hearts of these men.

But this video is nevertheless a really nice one. Artistic, cinematic, lots of tech jobs too. I for one am impressed. Congratulations to Linkin Park for yet another great song, great video. Congrats to Joe Hahn for a job well done!

12 Things I'm Loving Right Now

Since I'm sick at home and have nothing to do, might as well post something here in my blog. Here's a list of What I'm Loving Right Now.

1. Medieval TV- yep I'm into Medieval TV right now, specifically "Game of Thrones." I'm so glued that I'm thinking of reading the whole book series altogether. We'll see!

2. Cambridge Satchels - yep, I can't seem to get enough of it. But, sigh, enough is enough too. I'm happy with my yellow and green bags. Sister wants a red one, so maybe getting one isn't over for me yet (won't be paying that though hahahah what a cheapskate sister I am!)

3. Pepper Lunch Promo of Standard Chartered Bank - It seems like every week we eat in Pepper Lunch. Thank you Standard Chartered Credit card for this promo! I hope this is extended and that it will offer other selections!

4. Nina Garcia's "The One Hundred" - I didn't know what to get among Nina Garcia's books but I chose this one, and I'm glad I did! Most likely I'll be getting the very first book, "The Little Black Book of Style." It is a must-read for those fashion-philes out there!

5. Vigilant Citizen - I love this blog! Everyday I check it out just to see if there are new posts about "sinister sites," "occult places," the Illuminati, New World Order, etc etc. This blog satisfies my curiosity. Do check it out.

6. Talkative Eanna - yes, my darling daughter is soooo talkative these days, I can't keep up. IT's true, what they say, that once your little baby begins to talk, he/she will talk non-stop. Love Love Love.

7. Jewelmer Pearls - Yes, I'm now a pearl convert. All I have to do is save uo and muster all my strength to finally get them golden pearls.

8. White Denim Pants - just when you think summer is over, you suddenly feel that you gotta need something summery. And for me, white jeans it is. Thank goodness I found a nice one that really suits me well.

9. Net-A-Porter Magazine - I wait every week for the latest issue, and Net-a-porter magazine always never fails. Love love love this.

10. Mike Shinoda / Linkin Park - need I say more? I will meet them someday. Yes, meet them.

11. TKEES Slippers - I recently blogged about these TKEES slippers and I can't wait till I get myself one!

12. Trench Coat - Yep, the yearning is still there (and yep, I recently blogged about trench coats too. Too recent, actually just this morning hahaha). Don't care what the hubby says that our weather doesn't permit wearing this (coz I surely don't bugger him about getting ATV Parts you know). Our office is cold. And so I must get myself one.

That's just about it for me. How about you guys? Please do share the things you're loving right now!

EDIT:

Oooh! How can I forget this lovely gadget??? Didn't mean to leave it out!

The ipad 2 makes my list to 13 items. Nice!

All This Time

I lie awake thinkin' of the days gone by
Wishing that you're still here with me, baby
I was wrong and now you're gone
Please hear this heart of mine
Hear me calling

Whenever you're around me
I feel different in your arms
With the way you touch me
I feel the love that last a lifetime
Your love so true
And I never knew
That it's you I need all this time

See these tears that keep fallin' from my eyes
Wishing that I never let you go, my baby
Take this heart, feel me with your love
Please hear these words of mine
Hear me calling

Yeah yeah

Your love so true
I never knew
That it's you I need all this time
All this time
All this time

I Have Not Begun (Unreleased Linkin Park Demo 2009) by Mike Shinoda

Check out the lyrics on Mike Shinoda's website.

Unfortunately I am not an LPU member (US only I think!) so I can't really buy the CD. Great track though and I am sure the others are great as well.

Teenage Dream

I'm not talking about Katy Perry's original version. What I am obsessing about is Glee's version of Katy's song "Teenage Dream." Check this out!

What a wonderful voice. That's Darren Criss. And guess what, he's half Pinoy (and half Irish, what a cool blend)! I'm not surprised because I know Filipinos are very very talented (and smart among other positive characteristics!).

Anyway, I read that he's gonna be a Glee regular. Yay! Oh and I read too that another Filipina, Hazel Faith dela Cruz will grace an episode of Glee.

She's the winner of Glee Off to Hollywood Promo.

Galing ng Pinoy!

PS: Yes, It is a Cyber Monday for me today hahaha. I've been checking out videos nonstop from Linkin Park to Mary Bergin to Land Before Time to even TinkerBelle. Well actually, every day is a cyber day for me I guess. Hahaha!

My New Whistle!

Thanks to my hubby, I have a new tin whistle! It's the Walton's Guinness Black Tin Whistle!

The hubby got the whistle+book+dvd package and I am so thankful that he got me this. It's another whistle to be added in my collection.

Goodness, I have suddenly re-acquired the "phenomenon" known as the Whistle Obsessive Acquisition Disorder (Whoa) hahahaha. Relatively cheap (in price) collection, maximum satisfaction!
