Last night, I had dinner in Spiral at Hotel Philippine Plaza, together with my boss and the attendees of our conference for captains and chief mates. All I can say is.... WOW.
The buffet was huge! There were so many stations having different cuisines of various countries, that I didn't know where to begin: Mongolian, Chinese, Japanese, Indian, Mediterranean. Then of course, the grilling station, the sushi bar, the cold seafood station, the salad bar, the dessert bar, etc... So I first had my usual appetizers, which was sushi, and cold seafood: crabs and oysters. I was however a bit disappointed because they didn't serve rock lobsters, which I always looked for and binged on whenever I eat in any hotel's buffet.
After the appetizer, I went straight on to the main courses, and my boss was totally amazed at how much food I ate, that this morning while we were discussing some plans, he just suddenly commented... "you have a huge appetite, where does the food go?" Hahaha. Well at least I eat with poise hehehe.
Anyway, I tried almost all cuisines, and felt a little "sad" when I wasn't able to try on some Mongolian food. My gastronomic exercise ended with me eating about 5 types of french cheeses, together with some grapes and strawberries. Yum yum! I ordered some wine to go with it, but the waitress forgot to bring me one... Oh well..
I was still feeling a bit hungry that time, but then I was the only one left eating. Dang.
I was also amazed at how much food I ate, and I just reasoned out that this was due to being starved since March because of my braces. Seriously, eversince I had my braces, I slept with a hungry stomach.
Anyway, the gastronomic experience was really, well, gastronomic and satisfying, and I can't wait till Enrique comes back so we can go back to our usual habit of pigging out in buffets (or in Dampa). I'm sure he'll want to try Spiral, especially if he finds out that they have chicken feet dimsum in the buffet.
