Nursing Matters

Nope, I am not talking about nursing that pertains to feeding or caring for a newborn. I am talking about Nursing as in the profession. My niece-in-law is a licensed nurse but she hasn't found any nursing jobs here in the Philippines. Right now she is working as an agent in a call-center, which is obviously not related to her profession. I feel sad though because I know she very much wants to practice her profession and yet there are little opportunities for her to do so. She wants to apply in other countries but I guess she has to undergo the perils of agencies (nurse uniforms and supplies, medical exams, plus exorbitant fees!) and stuff like that before landing a contract.

What I have suggested to her is that she goes to a clinic or a public hospital and offer her services for free or at least minimum amount in order for her to gain experience. If budget is an issue she can also offer that she supplies her own scrub clothes. What is important is for her to practice her profession.

As to her supplies needs, maybe we can check out places where discount nurse uniforms are on sale. Hopefully this plan will turn out well.
