Mommy's Day Out By Unilab

I attended Unilab's Mommy's Day Out Program for selected mom bloggers at the Linden Suites yesterday, and bot it was a very timely event for me. I badly needed a time out to feel good about myself after being sad for a couple of days since my husband left for work.

It was an afternoon of food, lessons, and spa. Perfect combination right? We started with small talks among fellow mom bloggers: making money online, kids, pregnancy (including how to increase breast milk production, among others. Then we had a buffet lunch...

Lasagna, Veggies, Chicken Fricasse, Fish with Caper Sauce, and Leek Cream Soup (didn't get dessert hehehe)

After our lunch the program started with Ms. Aileen Dalisay as the host. Mr. Jack Orendain of Unilab Corporate Affairs gave a short intro and talked about one secret of marriage that can be summed up by this sentence:
Quality time together, quality time apart.
First speaker was Ms. Marie Calica, a beauty and personal care expert. She gave a short but meaningful presentation on how to take care of ourselves (skin and all). These are what we talked about:

  • Loving yourself. We were all asked to affirm to ourselves what we love about ourselves, physically at least. I chose my facial skin, hehehehe.
  • Exfoliate. Once every week or two weeks for dry skin, 2-3 time a week for oily skin.
  • Moisturize. Include the eyes and neck. Be gentle! Don;t for get the hands too.
  • Drink water. 8 glasses a day!
  • Take Vitamin E (a little plug in here for Myra E!)
  • Sleep well. 7-8 hours a day is the best.
  • Protect your skin from the sun.
  • Always keep yourself fresh and clean. This is stressed especially to those SAHMs who often times forget about themselves.
  • Make your beauty habits available.
After her talk was Anjie Gogna, a make-up artist who studied in Maquillage The Fort. She demonstrated how to wear the everyday makeup.

Most of the mommy bloggers were nervous in putting on makeup but Ms. Anjie has shown that everyday makeup need not be complicated and scary.

During her talk we were served meryenda. LOVE this, though it would have been better if the waffle was crispy and hot.

After the makeup session, we each were handed out a heavy loot bag full of Unilab products. Take a peek later on!

After the talks we had a group photo. Say "A" instead of "cheese!"

And we were off to Mane Depot where a spa package awaited us: foot spa, hair treatment, manicure, and pedicure. A little back and head massage were thrown in too!

Overall it was a truly fun experience not only because of the topics, loot bag, and the pampering we got, but also because I got to know new people, fellow SAHM bloggers like me who share a couple of things. Having Mommy's Day Out moments like these are needed by us moms, and not only for the busy working moms out there but for SAHMs like us too. Sometimes we have a tendency to not care about how we look because we just think that we're home anyways and the "we're not vain" thinking. I used to think that, that when at home I can just be carefree and all, but this event reminded me that moms shouldn't stop taking care of themselves just because they become, well, moms. Let alone stay at home mom. So maybe I should make it a habit that while being in front of the computer I fix myself just a little bit. Hehehe.

Now, the exciting part... I waited the next day to open my loot bag simply because I wasn't feeling well last night. Hehehe. Here are the giveaways!

  • 4 packs of pHcare feminine wipes
  • phCare bottles - minis, medium, and large ones!
  • Swish oral care mouthwash
  • Celeteque facial wash
  • Celeteque facial moisturizer
  • Celeteque alcohol-free toner
  • Celeteque anti-wrinkle moisturizer
  • Myra E capsules (yay! will try this!)
  • Myra E face powder (yay again!)
  • Myra E Vitaglow tinted moisturizer (triple yay!)
  • Myra Vitaquench dry skin lotion
  • Asian Secrets Lulur Whitening Scrub
I must admit the only products I used before were that of the pHcare products. But I am very excited to try the rest of these. Since most are facial skin products, I will use them and make a review on them. I'm sure these products will turn out well. They're from Unilab after all!

I really hope this is not the last of mom / blogger events I will be invited to go to. It was really a fun time! Thanks again Unilab!

And thanks, mom bloggers who I met: Mec (she was the only one I knew that time hehehe), Paula, Didi, Nikka, Peach, Pehpot. Hope I didn't miss anyone! And hope we see each other again!
