Beauty Loot: Burberry Oxblood and Fresh Glow

categories:
I was all too happy to have finally received the Burberry beauty loot that I ordered via Instagram: LizzyxCosmetique more than a month ago! I chanced upon the Youtube video of Burberry's Spring Summer 2016 Makeup Tutorial. I immediately fell in love with the look... I mean, who wouldn't want to have a clean and fresh looking face, with a burst of dark lip right?

Here's the video, which I kept on watching over and over again to remind myself how to recreate the look.

I got obsessed with the products used, specifically the Fresh Glow Luminous Fluid Base and the Lip Velvet in Oxblood. I also wanted to get the contour pencil, but alas, reality took hold of me, and I gotta save and just get what I know I would use anytime, always.

Besides, I think I got a lot of beauty loot already in a short span of time, specifically lipsticks. That will be another post, as I think it's about time for me to check all my lipstick loot and see what I would keep and what I would give away (my usual Christmas tradition hahaha). I also plan to share what I use on a daily basis as my "base makeup." Again, very timely since my husband is already giving me the evil eye and grumbles that I should stow away my makeup stuff and put them in my makeup case. :)

EDIT: I got to try the Oxblood, and it is similar to Tom Ford's Bruised Plum, but not quite. Oxblood is a little more red-based than Bruised Plum. Bruised Plum is, well, on the plum side. Both are gorgeous!

Beauty Loot: Picture Polish

I rarely get hit by the nail polish bug, but when I do, I hoard.

I remembered the days when my husband used to ask me if I was planning on setting up my own nail salon because of the daily deliveries of nail polish orders I had. That came to a halt when I got pregnant with my second child. I still wore nail polish, but rarely. In order not to waste all the polishes I had, I lent all of them to my staff at work.

Fast forward to now, here I am hoarding my favourite polishes: a-England, Zoya, and Picture Polish. Right now I am featuring the latest two polishes I got from my trusted online seller, Polish Please. Both are introduced this year, are 5-Free, and dries smooth on the nail.

First up is Bardot. It is a French baby pink jelly scatter holo, and described as "French in every way a sultry fashion forward siren." I could very well see the French in it once applied on my nails. This reminds me of Brigitte Bardot, so I guess the polish's name does suit it perfectly. The baby-ness of the pink is just gorgeous, while the subtler silver scatter holo makes it unique (well at least to me). This is a colour that anyone can wear anytime, be it at school (if allowed!), work, or at parties. Honestly I'm not into pink shades, since I am more of a red or burgundy type of girl, but this lovely polish had me at hello. It's currently what I'm wearing now. :)

Next is Karma. This was actually the first one that caught my eye when the nail polish bug bit me. I was so in love with it that I got heartbroken when I was told that it was out of stock and that it may take a while before it was restocked. I forgot about it until Polish Please sent me a Viber message informing me that it was already available (after months!).

The picture I took below did not do any justice to how gorgeous and rich the polish looked. According to the website, Karma is a vampy eggplant (purple) jelly scatter holo, inspire by the night sky. "Karma can be as radiant as the starry sky and mysterious as the dark night." Perfect description! The irony though is that under sunlight, the polish bursts with magical colour! Perfect for Winter, Spring, Summer, and Fall. Love love love.
Ok, here's one more photo of Karma, just to have a better idea on how truly wonderful the colour is. Got this from Polish Please's IG account.

Lovely, right?

I'm currently eyeing Picture Polish in Bordeaux. See why.

However, in order to save on shipping costs, I need to order another one. I hope that by the time I do, it is still available!

Wish List for Christmas: Urban Decay's Naked 3 Palette

categories: , ,
I've been following Urban Decay's IG for the release date of their latest Naked 3 Palette, so imagine my surprise when I just missed 2 days of checking, and the palette got released!

Now it's Sold out. Huhuhu. As if I can buy it online, non? Hahaha. Affected much.

But what pained me was that I just discovered this online shop via IG called ShopFromTheUSA and in those 2 days I missed pre-ordering. Imagine if I saw the IG account sooner, I would have preordered on time. Now the owner said that since UD Naked 3 is out of stock, they're currently not accepting pre-orders. So so sad.

I was slightly consoled by the fact that  I can have the Naked Basics (it's a smaller Naked palette with all-Matte eyeshadows for everyday use) and the super rare NARS Mysterious Red (remember this, I've been obsessing about it!).

Can't wait to get my hands on these lovely vanity loot!

Sigh. I know it's too much, but I really hope that I can get my hands on the Naked 3 palette. Please? Heavens, please hear me. Hahaha. Drama queen to the heavenly levels. Cheers!

EDIT: Surprise! I got the Naked 3 Palette yesterday, from ShopFromTheUSA! :) LOVE!

Found this in Nars Cosmetics' Instagram account, which best describes my beauty peg of late. Well, when I think about it, this is my beauty peg almost all year round!

With this, I got inspired and put together my "bare" essentials this season.

Notice the abundance of red lips? :) Hehehe. I am currently loving my NARS Cruella Lip Pencil. I really wanted to get the Mysterious Red color, but unfortunately it is out of stock... everywhere. Oh well. Gotta love NARS Namibia eyeshadow too!

Nivea Creme: Alternative for La Mer?

categories: ,
I've been reading online that Nivea Creme, the German version, is comparable and even a good alternative to Creme de la Mer. Too bad I can't verify this because only cremes made in Thailand are sold here in the Philippines. I just got myself a medium-sized tub for my legs and feet, as they have become drier than usual.

Anyways, back to Nivea Creme, German version. When I think about it, maybe it is really an effective creme. Why? A little story years ago... When my dear husband was assigned to sail in the Northern seas where winter is really terrible, he used the Nivea creme. When he came back he had this with him. I was laughing at him, asking him why he was using an ordinary creme especially for winter. Yep, snooty snooty me. I even told him to use other (aka more expensive) brands, but he swore by it. he laughed back at me and told me he can't believe that I didn't know that this Nivea creme is THE BEST creme he has ever used.

So now, as I ponder about the German version that I really want to get hold of, maybe this is the one that he had? I've read almost everywhere about Nivea creme that one should get the German one, because it is the best version, with Thailand version (the one I have now) next. The difference between the Thailand version and the German version is that the German does not have (safe) preservatives methylchloroisothiazoline and methylisothiazoline. Maybe there is a need for warmer regions, perhaps? Oh well. Since he got his in Europe, the probability was quite high. And so his rave (which I dismissed back then) was most likely a legit one too. Hahaha, I shouldn't underestimate my husband when it comes to product reviews, from now on.

Anyways, until I try the German version myself, I guess for now I will stick to my la Mer for my face. One thing I can tell you though... the consistency of both Nivea and la Mer is very very similar, plus the scent. Both their scents are very very very similar. Now, as to the rest of my skin... I guess, Nivea it is!

Way Long Overdue Product Review: Creme de la Mer

categories: ,
Yes, this is indeed a way long overdue. More than a decade actually, hahaha.

I know, there are already a lot of reviews about this uber-luxury creme, Creme de la Mer, but I guess I just have to blog about it because of how pleased I am with this product.

My love affair with Creme de la Mer started back in the 90's when I first read about it. Back then, of course, I was a teen-ager in college, and much as I was mystified by the allure of this creme, I just didn't have the means to get one. Besides, it wasn't even available here. Then when I started working, in the early 2000's, I got a chance to go to Singapore for a business trip. That's when I saw the creme in person. Woah, I was really happy, my eyes glistened at the sight of it. I know, some people complained about the packaging, but I didn't care. Actually, I liked it.

Heaven dropped upon seeing the price tag. It was something like almost PhP 4k. And during that time, that was a lot, and veeery expensive for a face cream. However, I didn't care. I was in my early 20s, felt that I have the world in my hands, super carefree and all. So I took the plunge. I even got myself an SK II Essence to boot. Imagine, my first two really expensive products. Hahaha.

So I tried Creme de la Mer first. Being in a tropical country, I found it tooooo heavy, but then as I lessened the amount, I got to "perfect" the exact amount that I needed for my small face. Instantly my skin felt really soft, smooth, and supple. I finished the whole jar eventually. Did I like the results? My skin was maintained. Did it improve? well, maybe but back then I couldn't really see. Not to brag and all, but my skin was fantastic back then. No pores, no blackheads, very fine indeed.

And since I was, like I said, in my early 20s, there was this desire to try other things. I tried my SK II which was really good as well - my face brightened each application.  I tried Ole Henriksen, Olay, then back to Creme de la Mer, SK II again, Olay, etc.

Zoom to recent times. I'm now in my mid-30's (nearing it), and lo and behold, my skin ain't that great anymore. Yes, I still have fine pores and all, but maan, the zits on my chin killed me for a time. Plus, my skin was dry. I got so depressed that for the first time, I had my aunt dermatologist treat my freaking face. Blue laser, injections, creams, weekly treatments, the works. My pimples subsided, but never healed. There were small tiny spot/scars that dotted my chin. That was the time that I came to terms that my skin will jus this, and will never be back to my old 20's state.

Then I got pregnant, and vain (vainer than usual). I suddenly got so addicted to buying cosmetics. I bought this really nice foundation from Max Factor, but felt sad that upon applying it, certain parts of my face showed really dry areas = flakes. Again, I got depressed. Surfed through the net and found Embryolisse creme. I got myself one and found it to be good on my skin. However there was something missing still, I don't know.

Then I suddenly remembered, wait I have Creme de la Mer plus the Eye Concentrate! I used them months back but since I was scrimping on it (the creme now cost me a hefty PhP 7600 plus the PhP8k eye cream!), I completely forgot about it.

So I started using it again, alternating between the two brands. Then started using Creme de la Mer solely. Somehow, my skin felt better with it. And I was happy. Every morning when I wake up, my skin felt so fresh. No new zits for me, no more dry skin. Plus, though it has mineral oil and petrolatum, there are no parabens here.

So now, why am I blogging about this again? This is the main reason....

I went to my Aunt derma last week to have my daughter's wound treated. The light of course was very unforgiving, and saw the imperfections of my face, aka dark spots/scars on my chin. I whined about it to my Aunt, and that I can't have my face treated because of my pregnancy.

Guess what she, a dermatologist, said....

Well, your skin is very nice right now. (of course minus the faint marks). I was very pleased with it, and I think I know the reason why. Yes, it is this wonderful Creme de la Mer. I just have a gut feel. Of course, I can say it's because of my pregnancy and all. But I think it really was the creme. I'm not even eating healthily right now because of my morning sickness and being picky with food. I stay late too due to the amount of shows I download. But yes, my face is really noticeably nicer. More even in complexion that some may not notice, but I do.

So, is Creme de la Mer worth it? For me, well yes. Why? Because no matter how many creams I've tried, I still go back to this wonderful product where my facial skin becomes always at its best. Maybe it is about time that I settle down. Sure, it is quite expensive, so I'm not sure if I will explore the other products apart from the eye cream and the original creme. My family is growing, times are hard, and I'm no longer that girl who thinks the world is in my hands and splurge always.

It may not work for some, based on a couple of reviews I've read, but it definitely worked for me.  I don't think it's all in the mind nor my history of being mystified and awed by it. One touch, and I know.

PS: Not sure yet, but I have a growing obsession over the Creme de la Mer Lip Balm. Blame it on Kiehl's for being out of stock (Lip balm #1), and my Burt's Bees not working too well lately.

PPS: I seriously think my old helper (or gasp, my current one!) has either used my creme or accidentally dropped it and thus the contents spilled. I cannot believe that in the small time frame I previously used it, I used so much that it's almost finished. Paranoia much? Obsessed much? Hahaha!

Skin Care and Fragrance 2013

Here's my skincare and fragrance loot!
My Skincare 2013

You know what's missing though, body lotion. I need one. Thinking of getting Kiehl's Creme de Corps, as it was my lotion before. However, upon checking the ingredients, it has parabens. Since I'm now aware of this ingredient, I'm very much not at ease in getting Kiehl's. Hmph. Human Nature product again? Not sure too. I want diversity in my products, and as you can see, Human Nature basically dominated my loot.

For some odd reason, I'm kind of obsessed with makeup and skincare. Well, more than usual. Surprisingly though, I stick with a couple of makeup stuff, even though I have more in my makeup box (with safe, hahaha!).

Here's what I have been using lately, which most likely will be for the rest of the year.

My latest makeup 2013

Yes, featuring Max Factor foundation, hahaha! Why? Because I am soooo in love with it, that's why. Great finish, great coverage, and lasts all day. Up next, skincare products I've been using!

Making Up

I seriously think my baby will be a girl. Right now I'm too fascinated with makeup that I even watched videos of Lisa Eldridge haha!

Anyways, I went to Digital traincase and got a Ben Nye luxury powder in Buff, Embryolisse lait creme concentre, Nyx lipsticks in Circe, Snow White, and Thalia, and a new set of Charm makeup brushes! Hahaha! I could've gotten more but thank goodness they only accept cash for now.

This morning I tried out my new stuff together with old stuff. My face is bloated right now so I'm too scared of posing full face. So here's one shot that showed a part of me. Haha!

What I used:
- Embryolisse creme as primer
- Charm makeup brushes
- Skinfood Good Afternoon Tea BB cream in Apple Cinnamon
- MAC concealer NW20 Though usually I'm NC20!
- Ben Nye Luxury Powder in Buff
- Urban Decay Naked Palette using Smog and Dark Horse
- Benefit Sugarbomb blush block
- Browlash Ex brow pencil
- Fairy Drops mascara
- Shu Uemura lash curler
- Nyx lipstick in Circe

Whew! That's a lot for a bare face, noh!

But I'm getting into it so I need to really take good care of my skin so that makeup would be very easy to pull off.

What I'm missing is the Max Factor Flawless 3-in-1 Foundation which I'm now sure that I need as replacement for my Étude House BB powder. My Skinfood cream is nice but I want to have an alternative hehe!

Battle of the Red Lips

categories: ,
Happy Valentine's day to all!

I know this day is too commercialised, but still, I choose to celebrate it. Yeah, I'm cheesy that way hahaha.

Anyway, I'm not the type of girl who wears red clothing every Valentine's Day, but I do get to wear something else... red lipstick!

Actually, for me it means spring is here (naks, even though wala nito sa Pinas haha) and soon summer will be next. I'm pretty much predictable in this aspect... red lips for spring/summer, maroonish for autumn/winter. (Feel talaga ang 4 seasons noh!) Pinks, corals, and nudes in betweens, but generally it's red or maroon for me.

But I'm kinda getting tired of my Mac Ruby Woo and Russian Red (currently wearing this shade) and my Revlon Top Tomato, so I'm scouting for my next favorite red lipstick.

My contenders are:

1. Chanel Rouge Allure Lipstick in Enthusiast

2. Guerlain Rouge G Lipstick in 25 Garconne

3. Revlon Colorstay Suede Lipstick in Backstage

Le smokin'eh? Hehehe. As sexy as a red-lipped woman hitting some nicaraguan cigars, hahaha!

Honestly, I really like the Garconne lipstick but the price is sooo prohibitive hahaha. But initially I wanted the Revlon as the Revlon lady told me that it has the same staying power as that of the Ultimate Liquid that I have (Top Tomato), which I must say is sooo worth it.

So, what would it be? We'll see, because right now all three are unavailable, so I can't really confirm. I'm really hoping though that I'd get the Guerlain. :)

Vernis Addiction

Oh my goodness. Seriously, my nail polish addiction should stop. I'm getting broke already. I must stop!

How can I when new polishes by A-England cannot be resisted? Argh.

Case in point, this...

Image from Pointless Cafe

A-England's Beauty Never Fails. Ack. Its beauty does not fail, literally.

*Sigh*

I'm really hoping my addiction will stop, or at least mellow down. I have too much already, but they just keep on coming! I must focus on my priorities or at least buy something else aside from polishes. Yule is drawing near anyway so might as well spend a few for decor like a floor stand display or some garland. Ack.

Monroe is Here!

Today I received my two latest polishes from Picture Polish, and boy I was so happy upon seeing them!

I got Monroe and Kryptonite and thank goodness I did not hesitate getting these two. I was torn what to wear between the two, but decided to try Monroe first as it was initially the one I wanted to get. It was a beauty!

I didn't use a high def camera so it looked a bit dull but believe me when I say the color is fantastic. Try googling it as there are loads of photos with even better quality. It just check out the FB or website of Picture Polish. I can't wait to try Kryptonite! PS: just got my post office notification that my package has arrived. I scrambled so fast, almost tripped and needed a knee walker. Hahahaha! A-England loot, come to mama! PPS: it's official. I've traded fashion for nail polish. I am officially addicted, especially to holo polishes!

Picture Polish: Monroe

Just when I thought I'd be done with nail polishes after hoarding a couple of a-England polishes, here comes Picture Polish in Monroe...

{Image from I am Anaa}

Ack! Of course I gotta have this! I asked the supplier already when this will be available so that I can get my hands on one. Sheesh, I think it's gonna be weeks until I get hold of it, but hey. I'm patiently waiting!

I think I am now a certified nail polish addict. Noh?

A-England Nail Polishes

I seriously need help because I have developed a really mean addiction.... Nail polishes! It's kinda obvious because lately I've been blogging more about nail polishes... a little much more than usual. You can't blame me, because there are a lot of really good nail polishes right now, I'm amazed people can resist hoarding!

Case in point, this latest nail polish brand that I just discovered recently (as in yesterday)... A-England!

Check out A-England's website or even google the nail polish names and you'll get why I'm so into this brand, I purchased a lot in one go.

 Here's the Legend Collection...

I got the St. George, Dragon, and Princess Sabra.

Look how gorgeous St. George is...
{Image from Makeup Withdrawal}

Princess Sabra is love too...
{Image from Pointless Cafe}
And Dragon....
{Image from The Swatch-aholic}

I also got Lady of the Lake, Morgan Le Fey, and Tristam from the Mythicals Collection.

Check out Lady of the Lake...
Tristam...

And Morgan Le Fey

I can just imagine I'd be having lots of fun topping my other nail polishes with this!

Ack. If only I had enough moolah, I would have purchased all of them. Seriously. ALL. Hahaha!

I can't wait till they arrive. I just hope Customs won't charge me that much for these babies! Now that would take a lot of prayers, walking towards the altar passing by lots of church chairs in order for that to happen. Hahahaha! Joke!

Fall Is Here

Hahaha, as if it really is here in Pinas. Anyways, what way to celebrate than to get some Fall loot...

F/W 2012 Recent Loot

Yes, I can't help it. No matter how hard I tell myself, SAVE to buy a house, I can't. I guess I do not have self control over these kinds of lovely things. But I have to, or else I'll grow old broke huhuhuh. Anyways, I'm happy at least. Instant gratification at its finest. PS: Multiply can be your sweetest worst enemy. Especially when it comes to instant gratification for nail/makeup fetish. ACK.

Anyways, check this out. Latest inspiration (and all the more reinforcement of) for the wine lip trend... Kate Bosworth!

Ski Teal We Drop

Move Over Zoya. At Least for now.

Seriously, this nail polish color by OPI is haunting me.

Look at this.

More than haunting, it is taunting me. Why? Because I don't know where to buy it locally!

ARGH.

I have found a supplier but she said the next shipment will be mid-September. Argh. Can I wait?

Argh.

Get Naked!

categories: ,
A little over a week ago, I had my lashes done in Xtensions Greenhills, thanks to the Groupon vouchers that I had purchased 2 months ago. I really liked the look of it, but for some reason (psychological I guess), I felt it wasn't for me. I was conscious that there was something attached to me, and so I did my best to weaken the lashes' adhesion and after one week, I could pick them out one by one with minimal discomfort.

Also, I can't seem to accept the fact that I cannot wear eyeshadow while I had those extensions. For me, that didn't set that quite well. I'm not a makeup-y person and I rarely wear eyeshadow as daily wear, but when I do feel like it, I want to have that option of having eyeshadow anytime I want.

So, off with the extensions, and on with the Naked.

Urban Decay's Naked palette, that is. :)

I was struggling to decide on whether to get the Naked or the Naked 2. What won me over for the original Naked was the inclusion of the eyeshadow primer, which for me is more important than the Naked 2's lip gloss.
It would be too much if I bought both, hehehe. But I was really torn on this one.

Anyways, I love my latest splurge and I look forward to experimenting. For tomorrow's look, perhaps!

Summer 2012 Current Obsession

I think obsessing over Korean beauty products is part of my cycle on
Fashion -> Home Design -> Beauty

Currently I'm digging these:

Etude House MiniME World Traveler Collection Perfumed Mist Ms. Ever (Body & Hair)
The scent is floral-y fruit-y. It's not the usual scent that I get but I think it suits me. A little strong, but I'm after that stronger effect. :) Plus, the packaging is so lovely, who could resist?

Skinfood Good Afternoon Apple Cinnamon Tea BB SPF 36 PA++
Thank goodness I got this. It has a very mild but gooooood scent. It brightened my skin, which is good always. :) The coverage is quite light, so those with dark blemishes may need to use a concealer underneath. The look is really natural. love love love it. :)
Throw in some Majolica Majorca Products too...

MM Lash King - this product I totally love! It works best for both natural look and the Famous Smoke eye look. I'm a convert since I first used this. Love!
MM Blood On Lip & Cheek Gel - got this and it's one of my best buys this year. Totally love the stained effect!

Beauty Peg: Louis Vuitton's Spring/Summer 2012

I just fell in love with Louis Vuitton's Spring/Summer 2012 Collection. Most of all, the looks of each of the models...

Peg ko yan this summer! Hahahaha.

I got this headpiece already in Powerplant, so all that's left is to clear my skin and rid my face of the eruptions happening. yes, my skin is revolting. Derma said it is probably hormonal but I don't care. They have to go.No matter how painful or expensive it takes. yes, I'm vain like that, at least for my skin. Sorry, the feeling is back. AS I've said, I'm not used to this kind of problem so forgive me if I really rant about it.

Anyways, going back to the main topic. Yes, I love this look. I'm even tempted to try those lash extension stuff. My staff had those on and she looked amazing! Maybe I should try that. Makeup is minimal so I guess I have those in my stash.

But other than the runway looks, I really like the color palette used. Soft pastels. I'm not the pastel-y type of girl but this collection pulled me. I love it. Now I'm into those mint green polishes and coral-y ones. This is reflected in the nail polish colors that I'm wearing for the past few weeks.

Orly Jealous Much and Essie Tart Deco are my current fave nail polishes aside from the Royal Navy of Butter London and my ever trusty Chanel Dragon).

Here are the details I love....
