Long Weekend

I'm so looking forward to this long weekend... doing... nothing...

Ok, I should stop this "I'm lonely" and "I'm sad" crap. I better move on and start thinking on what to do for this long weekend... especially on Sunday.... Hello Vanessa, it's your birthday, remember???

Ok, tomorrow, I plan to take Eanna to Jollibee for breakfast (she loves Jollibee, gets crazy whenever she sees the resto!). Then we go to Megmall for the Sale... Will be there early then leave early too. I don't like crowds. Hehehe. Then we go back home: Eanna goes to sleep while I get a massage. Then I'll cook a lovely dinner.

Saturday: We go to Salcedo Market. Then go to Powerplant for the Urban Bazaar. I do my groceries and all. Eat lunch then go home... Get some sleep. In the afternoon, probably visit the in-laws, then have dinner at home (or at my in-laws hehehe).

Sunday: Hear Mass. Have breakfast in Jollibee (we'll get the free tumbler by this time!). Go to Greenbelt. Lunch at home or in GB. Should I exercise? hehehehe... Dinner at my parent's place. We'll see, bahala na.

I hope I'd have good spirits in order for me to push through with this schedule, or even think of other (more creative) plans.

Happy weekend all!

Wardrobe Anemia

*Sigh*

My wardrobe right now is as updated as my "fashion" blog... which means it is outdated already! I've been too busy with work and home that I simply forgot some of the finer things in life (nyahahaha). I'm not regretting though. Past months have been really good ones and I wouldn't ask for more.

Aside from the Tyler dress I bought last month

My most recent purchase was this top from Plains and Prints.

I first saw this in their catalogue, but at that time it wasn't on sale yet. I gave my contact info so that they will notify me once the blouse is available. It was good timing though that we went to Megmall and the colelction just arrived!

I wanted to buy the other pieces but I opted to restrain myself... For now at least. But right now, I'm totally loving this piece.

Well... Shopping and updating my closet... it's something I look forward to while hubby is away...

Something to look forward to this weekend. Hope I can get myself a birthday present there.
*Sigh*

Kinda obvious I'm still sad, noh?

Have You Visited GOOP?

Have you visited Goop.com?

It's the personal website of Gwyneth Paltrow, one of my favorite Hollywood actresses. I have completely forgotten that I am subscribed to her newsletter until I read an article about it in last weekend's newspaper. Apparently, GOOP has had mixed reviews, and some very negative about the "lavish" lifestyle of Gwyneth. But like what the author of the article said, what do you expect, she's a moviestar, and brought up in a luxurious lifestyle (not to mention having WASP-y Blythe Danneras her mother and who doesn't know her Dad, right?).

Anyway, after millions of years ago, I checked out the website again, and found this interesting read:

Back in the day, I had a “frenemy” who, as it turned out, was pretty hell-bent
on taking me down. This person really did what they could to hurt me. I was
deeply upset, I was angry, I was all of those things you feel when you find out
that someone you thought you liked was venomous and dangerous. I restrained
myself from fighting back. I tried to take the high road. But one day I heard
that something unfortunate and humiliating had happened to this person. And my
reaction was deep relief and…happiness. There went the high road. So, why does
it feel so good to hear something bad about someone you don’t like? Or someone
you DO like? Or someone you don’t KNOW? I once asked the editor of a tabloid
newspaper why all of the stories about a famous British couple had a negative
bent. He said that when the headline was positive, the paper didn’t sell. Why is
that? What’s wrong with us? I asked the sages to shed a little light.
Here’s
to washing our mouths out with soap...
Love, Gwyneth

The replies of who Gwyneth has asked the question...

I’m curious about the spiritual concept of “evil tongue” (speaking evil of
others) and its pervasiveness in our culture. Why do people become energized
when they say or read something negative about someone else? What does it say
about where that person is? What are the consequences of perpetuating negativity
or feeling schadenfreude?

are found HERE.

Nice question, noh?

Anyway, you'd find more topics, so do check it out.

My interest in GOOP has been reactivated, so I'm looking forward to adding her website to my daily blog read. :-)

What To Do While Waiting

I'm trying to come up with a list of what to do while dear husband is away, and here's some that I've thought of...

Ack. I can't think of any. *Sigh*

Let me try again....

  1. Spring clean our closet. Donate old clothes. Promise to make more room for hubby's stuff (he complains about this all the time!)
  2. Flex my cooking muscles again. You know, international cuisine? Because E always wants Filipino food while he's here.
  3. Check out my shoes again. See if there are any that I haven't used for a long time, or I haven't used at all.
  4. Make it a point to always bring Eanna downstairs in our clubhouse and in the kids' play area. I used to be too lazy to do so.
  5. Ahem... shop?
  6. Be more positive about work... It helps to keep me busy and stop thinking about hubby being away too much.
  7. Buy a notebook and write to Eanna everyday...
  8. Buy a notebook and write to Enrik everyday...
  9. Take Eanna to Gymboree? We'll see.
  10. Plan for E and E's birthday party.
  11. Check out new restaurants and resorts for us to try. See, hubby only has 2 months vacation. We gotta maximize it. Hehehe.
  12. Shop? Hehehehe.

Ok, that's all I could think of for now. Will update this again later.

Getting More High-Tech!

I miss my husband so much, but I've got some good news... Their vessel is possibly equipped with internet (wifi?) connection! How did I know? One of hubby's colleagues has just chatted with me, and he's (the friend) onboard! I had to confirm it that they have chat capabilities, and hubby's friend confirmed it. And most likely, vessel of hubby will have that too. Yehey! Now I can chat with my beloved! I just have to check out good netbooks and suggest to him the best one he could buy (we didn't buy one when he was here, shucks). I was thinking maybe a macbook should do, but E has to check first if Mac is compatible with their vessel's sy6stem.

I'm surely keeping my fingers crossed that their vessel will have internet connection. Please please please.

Oh, and yeah... An even better news? Webcam is a possibility too. Please please pleae...

Eanna's Version

Here's Eanna's version of SJP's outfit in Sex and the City...

She tried on the shoes and the clothes, and didn't want to take them off. So we got them for her. Hehehehe.

Anyway, she wore the whole ensemble when we went to Greenbelt. She used her Strawberry Shortcake bag filled with her cologne and her lip gloss. Yep, she saw me put on some gloss, and wanted to have one too, so we bought her one for kids. Kikay!!!

Don't I look fat???? I think I did put on some weight (Mom said so, but not enough for me to take weight loss pills).

Oh, enough of that. Going back...

Doesn't my dear darling look so charming? She's the cutest doll ever.

16 Steaks To Go...

This was how hubby simplified our waiting time till he comes back home. You see, every Saturday, their chief cook onboard always serves steak either for lunch or dinner. Since hubby's contract is just 4 months, he jokingly told me that we just think of his cotnract that way... 16 steaks to go.

Hubby left for work yesterday, and it was a bit hard for us to part, since he was on vacation for almost 7 months. He even refused for us to bring him to the airport. instead, his brother did.

*Sigh*

I'm still in denial that he's away. I hope I can recover fast enough though. Maybe I'll make a checklist of what to do while waiting for him.

On the lighter side of things...

We spent the whole weekend together, either eating out, bonding at home, or shopping (hehehe). Hubby joked that he hasn't even left yet but Eanna and I have already started shopping (hihihih). Dear daughter got herself a new pair of shoes, a skirt, and a racerback (?) shirt.

Eanna having dessert...

The whole outfit Eanna bought...

I wanted this as well... but... expensive! Next time!

I in turn got myself a new blouse and jeans. Hubby wanted me to buy some shoes so we checked out Charles & Keith (my favorite women's shoes store), but I was unsuccessful (shoe size issue, as always).

Oh well. At elast we had a wonderful time before he left for work.

We look forward to seeing you again Papa...

Disability due to work

My Boss has informed me that one of our crew who was recently declared UNFIT for sea duty has filed a case of disability, and that he has acquired his illness from work. This is one of the risks of being a seafarer. You are exposed to a tough work condition which may ultimately affect your health.

This is a constant worry for me, because hubby goes onboard tanker vessels. We often joke about the "tanker effect" wherein seafarers who have been onboard tankers have a "weird way" of thinking. hehehe. But seriously, the fumes may affect hubby's health. Good thing he's not exposed to asbestos or other more poisonous substances, but still.

Oh well, maybe I'm getting paranoid again ebcause he's about to sail again. *Sigh*

And so time has come for hubby to go back to work... Ouch. That made my heart pause. *Sigh*. What more can I say. I'm never gonna get used to him being away. But I've got to keep on trying, right? It's his profession. I should always keep in mind what i tell my crew: in your profession, forget about holidays or any attachments to dates.

*Sigh*

It's back to just me and my little angel. And I just always have to think of this... it's just 4 months...

Summer Outing in Canyon Cove

Last 06 April, our family headed south to Nasugbu Batangas and spent the whole day swimming in the beach and the swimming pool in Canyon Cove. We initially wanted to stay overnight but teh place was heavily booked, so we had no choice but to just take the "day trip." Entrance fee is PhP 500 per person, PhP 200 of which is consummable (food or rentals). We stayed in one of the cabanas (with a fee of PhP 550, if you don't want this then you can stay in the umbrella-type tables), which in my opinion could have looked better (hehehe).

The place is nice, there are two pools (for kids and for adults), and the beach... fantastic. Just like the Nasugbu I know. The food was the concern. Bringing in food and drinks is not allowed, and the price inside is just too high! The buffet simply doesn't look like it's worth PhP 600 pesos. We didn't check out the ala carte though.

Anyway, our family had fun nonetheless. Our little baby enjoyed too. Sheeps, she's such a swimmer, maybe i should enroll her in a swimming class. We would want to try to stay overnight next time, even though the cost (strictly two per room!) is not that budget friendly. And I don't think there are any cheaper alternatives nearby.

Till next summer!

PS: We weren't able to take too much pictures from our camera. I'll post more pics when I get them from my sister's.

Another shot, but I like the first one.

Here are some pics I would also like to share.....

Dalagang-dalaga! Shot taken at MNG. Shirt reads "Somebody has to spend Daddy's money." Harharhar.

One of her kulit moments, but this shot seemed like she was an ever adorable angel. Hehehhe.

"Show your teeth!" And she does this smile. Hehehehe.

Hubby's Oath-Taking

Date: 08 April 2009
Venue: Manila Hotel

The occassion was well, a disappointment for us, and the only redeeming factor was that his license and ID were issued and that we were patient enough to wait for his name to be called. I don't want to rant anymore, but all I can say is... poor planning, ang gulo, and hello... at PhP 700 one could expect more than the pancit bihon, fried chicken, banana cake, and brownie in one plate that was served. Wala pa drinks! Like what my Boss said... most likely may kumita dyan!

Anyway, here are some pics...

Eanna still in a good mood

Eanna getting sleepy. Ang daming tao! And it took forever for us to be given a table!

Finally... hubby was called...

Family picture...

There was a dress issue pa nga eh. I originally wanted to wear something else, something less formal, but hubby felt bad (tampo effect!), commenting that I wore something nice on my friends' wedding, then on his special occassion I would wear something less. Fine, the yellow dress then. Hahahaha. But he was serious, ha. Aside: is it the camera, my pose, or did I get fat? Sheeps, I probably have to finally exercise and do some workouts such as Kettlebell workouts. Ngik.

Anyway, we ended the day with dinner with his family in Bonifacio High Street.

Again, we thank the Lord for this blessing, and we pray that his career will continue to flourish.

Eanna's Egg-hunting Treat

categories: ,
Let me take this opportunity to give updates now (whew, got some spare time, thank goodness). As previously mentioned, Eanna had an egg-hunting treat for her friends last Easter Sunday. It was truly a fun experience, both during the planning and the actual event. It was just a simple party, nothing too fancy. Maybe when she grows up it will be a little more creative, hahaha.

Anyway, it was an impromptu idea for me to have this little party, but I'm glad we pulled it off quite well. We surely had fun hiding the gegs, only to forget noting the places, so we ended up trying to remember and hunting for the hidden eggs. Hahaha. At the same time, we made sure that the floors were clean (ours do not have wood flooring so it might be slippery for some) and that fragile objects were stowed.

We invited her closest friends and of course, her Kuya Aden, to join us. All that we invited attended, though some weren't able to do the egg-hunting because they came in late.

We served chicken fingers with honey-mustard sauce and sweet spaghetti with meatballs and orange juice for drinks. Eanna was very much a gracious host, lending toys to the kids while waiting for the others, as well as offering marshmallows as appetizers. Super funny, becuase instead of giving the mallows to the kids, she literally "fed" them. Hahaha. Anyway, the kids had fun looking for the eggs, though we had to "help" some so that they will not leave empty-handed.

Till next year's Easter!

Getting Well

Saturday morning we rushed Eanna to the ER because her fever was still high at 39.5C. We were immediately attended to (nice service, Medical City!) when they learned that my bebe's fever was already running for 4 days. And so they have conducted blood tests and supposedly a urinalysis and urine culture but we were unable to get urine immediately.

Thank goodness the results were better than feared... No dengue at least, "just" upper respiratory tract infection. We were advsied to continue giving her Vitamin C, Calpol for fever higher than 37.8, lots of water, and 3x a day nasal spray (Eanna didn't and still doesn't enjoy this at all) for 5 days.

Anyway, here's Eanna yesterday, as we're off to go to Sunday Mass...

Of course she was all-smiles because after Mass we went stright to jollibee for breakfast...

As for me, last night I was glad that Eanna was (and still is) recovering.

I looked like a zombie because of the sleepless nights I had. But that's ok. At least I know Eanna is getting better. And I hope she fully recovers really soon.

Update on Eanna

categories: ,
We went to the doctor yesterday, and he advised us to have Eanna undergo lung x-ray and urine culture. It really is unusual that every month Eanna gets sick. Maybe UTI is being considered and the lung x-ray can possibly determine if our bebe has weak lungs. I seriously hope and pray that she doesn't have weak lungs. I refuse to believe, if ever. I mean, how else can you explain the really loud shrieks and cries (extended periods!) Eanna makes. Hehehehe.

Anyway, I'm still here at home. Am I was even crazy to think of going back to work, but in the end I realized... my daughter is my priority. So I told my boss I won't be reporting for work today.

I really hope Eanna will get well soon. And I also hope her appetite will get back. Right now she's very picky, only drinking milk, a few spoonfulls of food, and pediasure.

Ted Failon

categories:
I feel sorry for what happened to the family of Ted Failon. Since I'm here at home, hubby and I are watching the news for updates on the case. I hope his wife will wurvive and tell what happened. So far what has been reported all the more confuses us watchers. To some extent it seems it really is suicide, but in some angles it seems that TEd has a hand in it.

So many questions are inside my head, as well as hubby's. I would like to believe that Ted has nothing to do with this. Hubby on the other hand thinks there is something fishy. I asked E if he would shoot me because of money. Negative. However, he would shoot me if there's another man (joke sana but his look was serious!). Nyahahaha.

Any which way, I pray for his family. Hopefully everything will be resolved, and if ever somebody has to take responsibility over this (you know, jailed an all), I hope that that person will be where he/she should be.

EDIT:
17Apr'09 -
1. I'm just wondering... If it weren't Ted Failon, I mean if it were an "ordinary person", would the investigation take this long or would it immediately conclude that it was suicide?
2. Is it true, the wife (May she rest in peace) tested negative in paraffin test?
3. Nakakahiya ang police natin. Based on the footages shown last night. They're too much. For me, if that's their form of "revenge" against Mr. Failon, then all the more his "reports" against them becomes more credible, that our police are, well, I don't want to say it. But you guys know what I'm trying to say, right?

Eanna Sick Again

categories: ,
This is too much. It seems that every month, Eanna gets sick with fever. Just last night she was very "matamlay" and she hardly ate anything. Early this morning, the only thing that cdheered her up was play with the remaining first birthday supplies such as toys and stickers in her room.

After drinking medicine, her fever went down to 37.7 C, which is still high right? Then after, her temperature rose again to 38.9C. I'm thinking whether to send her to the ER or wait for Dr. Alfiler's clinic hours. I'm still hesitant in bringing her to the ER though. You know, my fear of hospitals and unecessary tests. We'll see.

For now, I'm just here taking a break (while she's sleeping -- again)... working and blogging.

Trip to the Pasig Rainforest

We initially wanted to go back to the La Mesa Park, but later on decided to try out something new and went to the Pasig Rainforest. We were immediately amazed by what pasig has done because almost at the heart of the city lies this rainforest. It is open to the public, and what's even better is that admission is free!

It is a small rainforest compared to the La Mesa park, but I told hubby that I enjoyed this more because in such a small place, we were able to go to the Zoo, check out the pool (we didn't swim though), watched people play tennis, amazed that there is a gym inside, talked about the ampitheater, etc etc. I prefer this than trekking and panting under the heat of summer, noh? Eanna of course had fun looking at the animals. She really is fond of animals, dogs and fishes in particular. I previously blogged about having a pet dog for her but backed out of this plan. Health concern (for me and the bebe, you know, my asthma and all) is one factor, plus of coruse the maintenance (food, anti-flea products like Frontline, grooming, etc...). Maybe next time, but not now.

Anyway, going back... It's just too bad that I was unable to take more pictures of the place. But definitely we will go here again. And hopefully, I would remember to take more pics of the place. Mayor E of Pasig... good job!

Eanna in Oceanpark

After months of planning, we finally went to Manila Oceanpark as a treat for Eanna (she loves fishes!). The place is small comapred to HK's OCeanpark, and there are no rides, but I must say that our little family (especially our sweetcake) enjoyed what our Oceanpark has to offer.

At the first sight of fishes, Eanna was totally ecstatic and kept on pointing at them, while repeatedly saying "Hshish! Hshish!" (her version of sih, heheheheh). She was not afraid with the big aquariums, not even the big fishes that went in front of her. When we entered the "tunnel", she kept on looking up at the fishes that were above us. Eanna kept on running around, pulling our hands, signally us to go with her to whatever aquarium she wanted to look at.

More picture are found HERE.

After the Oceanarium, we tried the fish spa, wherein we dip our feet in a low pool filled with doctor fishes. These are said to eat dead skin cells! Hubby was at first hesitatnt to try it, ebcause he was shy about his feet (harharhar) but later on agreed to do so. When I dipped my feet, a school of fish munched on my feet like crazy.

It was a tingling and nice experience for me, while hubby kept on grabbing my arm (he was very ticklish but afetr a while got used to the sensation). Eanna dipped her little feet as well, but no fishes went to her. Hahahah. oh, a funny thing... When hubby dipped his feet, a huge number of fishes "migrated" to his spot. More food eh? HARHARHAR.

We ended the day with a buffet dinner in Ozeano (by Tamayo's), and given the price, we were pretty much pleased with what was served. I especially liked the very fresh tuna sashimi. The ones I ate were even better than those served in hotels. It's one thing that would keep me coming back to this place! Eanna seemed to enjoy the food as well, as she kept on eating all that we have got (save for the raw tuna and salmon!). Curiously, she liked the spicy beef soup. Exotic taste ang lola! Hahaha. Hubby on the other hand chowed on the Filipino classics. Both of us liked the Mongolian station (well, of course, he liked what I concocted hahaha), simple but the important ingredients are there. Finally, we had dessert: chocolate fountain, cakes, puddings, chocolate, chocolate, chocolate! Hahahaha.

I really recommend families to go to this spot in town. I also look forward to setting foot on the future Hotel H2O. Location is nice, peaceful, and relaxing 9especially at night by the bay. I hope that they maintain this place, because it is one of those places where you wish our city would look like always (especially at night!). We should be proud of our Oceanpark. Worlds class? perhaps!

Belated Happy Easter to all!

I've got so many updates but have so little time to blog about them. See, it was a very long holiday vacation (for me at least), and now I'm trying to catch up with work. Once I'm done, I promise to spend some time blogging (and de-stressing hahahaha)

Some highlights during our vacation:
1. Moments of Summer Fun - with Net25's Moments
2. Swimming in Canyon Cove
3. Eanna's trip to Oceanpark Manila (finally! this was a long-delayed plan!)
4. Eanna's trip to the Pasig Rainforest
5. Hubby's oath taking
6. Our Visita Iglesia
7. Eanna getting sick for 3 days (huhuhuh)
8. Eanna's Egg-hunting treat for her friends (and cousin!)

Plus: Recipes I would like to share:
1. Braised Beef in Red Wine
2. Baked Fish in Parmesan Cream
3. I don't know how to call it but... raw tuna tapenade... ngik. Hahahaha.

Hope I can do all these updates within this week!

Hubby and I have been discussing about whether Eanna will take Gymboree classes or not. He's quite hesitant because he felt that Eanna is too young for any classes. I on the other hand can't wait for her to experience Gymboree!

Anyway, I finally convinced hubby to take Eanna for gymplay, and he saw that our little angel was so happy with our treat!

Still, hubby is not yet fully convinced. Maybe one more trip to Gymboreee, say a Preview class, and maybe he'll say Yes. Hehehehe.

Anyway, here are some pics...
